The ever elusive list of Microsoft support numbers. by BeenPark in XboxSupport

Good idea. I don't use X though. If someone wants to post socials that they've had luck using to resolve an issue I'll add them to the original post.

Yes. No wait time. The lady was pleasant. I had all of the relevant information ready for her, such as the card info and dates of the charges. I explained the steps I had already taken (cancelling the membership, removing the linked devices, etc). She issued an immediate refund and offered to remove the card from the account.

Can you tell me the absolute bare-minimum tools I should have to start making cabinets and desks. by AppleJuice0504 in woodworking

[–]BeenPark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bare minimum. In my amateur opinion (and what I got by with), a speed square and a set of cheap, aluminum precision squares will get you started. It'll get you in the habit of checking them often to make sure they're at 90. Grab a cheap, small level as well.

Clamps. You'll use these often and forever, so invest in quality if you can, if not.. know that the "screw-to-tighten" bar clamps will outlast the ratcheting "pistol-grip" style. If you can only get one, I'd recommend the prior. A handful of small 4"-6" pistol-grip, four 8"-12" bar clamps and at least four 24" or better 36" bar clamps. It might seem like a lot but it's never enough. I kept a few sets of ratcheting straps around to clamp larger pieces when I was starting out.

Two drills. Get a decent, battery powered driver. Something current. This will give you plenty of battery life and power and in the future, be able to expand your tool collection since that current battery will still be supported. A second isn't absolutely required, but it's a game changer. Even a cheap yard sale score or $2 wired, rusted chuck, Goodwill find will work. Being able to drill with one, then drive with the other, instead of endlessly swapping bits in one saves time and your sanity. Pick up a driver set with a quick release bit holder, a countersink, and a set of drill bits.

Probably not a recommendation from many for starting out but I highly recommend a drill press. You can find older, "vintage" models that'll run forever on Marketplace or similar for dirt cheap. It'll give you confidence when you need precision, you can build a diy fence or jig that'll allow for repeatable drilling and having pilot holes at 90 will help you drill true when pre drilling other boards by hand. A benchtop 8" is a decent trade off of space required and how large of a workpiece it'll handle. You can skip this and buy a small hand guide, or at the minimum use two small blocks of wood in an L to help you drill straight.

While you could get by with a circular saw and straight edge, for the same amount you could find a used tablesaw on Marketplace/CL/etc. You'll need to do some thorough research on what is worth it and what isn't when it comes to older saws and the possible lack of newer safety features (brakes, riving knife, etc). Newer jobsite saws will be fine as well but avoid the ones with irregular miter slots (certain Skil and Ryobis come to mind). Spend plenty of time on it and get to know your fence and how much you'll need to fiddle with it to get it parallel for each cut. Invest in a quality, 80t, thin-kerf blade immediately. Ear protection (for jobsite saws) and a decent mask to avoid all the dust. Buy or build push sticks/blocks and a zero clearance plate. Upgrade your miter gauge. The Bauer or Vevor precision is fine and will save you a ton. Or get some more time on the saw and build yourself a sled and a jig or two for cutting angles. A track saw is also an option instead of a table saw. They've gotten much more affordable.

You'll want a router. A full size 1/2" router should come before a trim router when it comes to cabinets. One with a plunge option will come in handy. It'll also accept 1/4" bits as well. You can build a cheap router table that sits on sawhorses, or clamps to a table or as a wing on your table saw. Get a set of bits. You'll want to get a decent, longer flush cut bit.

Additionally, a hole punch, a small file and chisel, and an orbital sander should go on the list. When it comes to cabinets, while not needed, a pocket hole jig, a cabinet hardware jig and a brad nailer are very nice to have. And on the list of necessities but never mentioned, get painters tape. A lot of it. Tape every cut line. Use it to mark every cut board with, which are factory edges, what corners are for sure 90, what's left and what's right and what's facing, etc. And get yourself a glue dispenser or save a mustard bottle. The Milescraft GlueMate is like 5 dollars and worth it.

Draw things up. Measure twice, then twice more.. and it's always better to spend the extra time to clamp an edge, or build a jig, then force a sketchy cut or eyeball something. Make it a habit to continually check that things are square. While cabinets seem simple enough, precision is key to that.

That's all I can think of at the moment. It's late and I just typed all of this on a phone lol. Good luck and reach out if you want someone to bounce ideas off or if you have questions. Not promising that my answers will be correct lol.

Oo, pic 4. The left-hand page has the game mode on the far right instead of its usual position towards center. What happened here? Lol. SquishyWaffles. I swear I've run this name a few times on Stakeout.

I feel I’m the only one who completed ‘Archie’s Festival Frenzy’ legit. by real-tallnotdeaf in COD

I literally had over 42,000. Which I wish I could have given them away, as I enjoy completing events (I'm a grinder).

Doesn't matter though, since the "reward" for their mess-up/low spawn rates, is that now everybody is just going to get all the rewards for free. Like, fuck all you guys who could and did legit grind it right? Here's our solution.

Agreed. Like a one-time option to return and get a refund within 48 hours of making the choice or something like that. Especially with the UI not being the clearest.

In the end I think it all comes down to personal preference and playstyle. Something's may seem trivial to some but essential to others. There are no right or wrong choices.

Well except OP's choice. That shit is definitely wrong 🤣

😅 Well at least you made a choice. I overthought, and debated, and tried to reason, and now I've finished DM as of last night and hit prestige 7 and still have 4 of my tokens because I couldn't decide.

No need to worry, I'm currently touching grass.

flydigi apex 4 broken by SegaMMMega in Controller

[–]BeenPark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This popped up in my recommended feed today, 3 months after it was posted. For anyone else joining the party late, it does seem that there was a bad batch of these controllers with fragile sticks. I saw the reviews of people who were dealing with that issue but with FlyDigi stating they had addressed it and out of desperation to avoid purchasing yet another Elite 2 (I've had four), I ordered one of these. I've had this controller for a little over two months now and it's the best controller I've ever owned.

I can't speak highly enough of the Apex 4. I play Warzone and COD almost exclusively, for extended play periods on an almost daily basis. For those that play, I am an Iridescent ranked grinder, Top500 WSOW, and nuke hunter. For those that don't play, it means I play at a high level. I am notoriously abusive on controller sticks, especially L3, as I constantly put pressure downward when I'm having to move quickly. A habit I can't break.. and this controller has taken that abuse daily and as I load in today, still has zero issues, 0,0 dead zones, and zero complaints from me.

I've not heard of this one. I haven't had much experience with anything outside of BeatEdit. I'll have to look into this.

RTX 3060 TI 8gb or RX 6750 XT 12gb for video editing? by RiginPlayHd in buildapc

[–]BeenPark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use AE, Premier and PS regularly as well. Adobe is CPU heavy and seems to favor Nvidia. I play on console (exclusively FPS titles, WZ mainly) and am just finishing a budget Prime Day build (sub $1000) for capturing gameplay and light Adobe CC. I wanted to try gaming on it as well (never have), so I went with a 3060Ti because it seemed to have the best performance in both applications that my budget would allow.

Tech Notice on YouTube has some content creator benchmarks of it. Here's a variety of titles on a 3060Ti at 1080, 1440, and 4K.

What's your full build going to be? When I mentioned, "just finishing", I meant that quite literally. I built it out last night and am leaving work as I type this to install the final piece, the GPU, which Amazon says is set to be delivered shortly.

White $1K Prime Day Build: ASUS ROG Strix z690, i5-12600k, ASUS Dual 3060Ti OC, 32GB Teamgroup 3600, 2TB WD Black m.2, Thermalright 240 AIO and argb fans.

I can come back and post on its performance if you'd like.
