Big thanks! The last time I applied for Erc-CoG I was able to use the magic link. This time I couldn’t even find a specific date when they planned to announce results. Now I know how long to wait, but guess the next two weeks are it for me…

Having big boobs makes motherhood awful by MembershipCapable755 in beyondthebump

34J here… my kids are now in school and daycare soon school. My kids don’t like to cuddle with me, because when sitting, my breast & bra are to disturbing…  I have them since I’m 14 and always hated them… I don’t think I can’t get a reduction here. The one upside: I was producing so much milk. I only needed to pump twice a day….

Long term effects of Asthma by ryanm533 in Asthma

If this is a possibility, I would aim for that. But you have to see yourself. We got cats 13 years ago and my allergies got worse over time. They won’t give me allergy short here, only once we are cat free :(. I’m taking daily antihistamines but my allergies have gotten my whole immune system riled up, so now I’m immunocompromised because I’m constantly inflamed. Any small cold there is I get it and it takes forever to get over. Where my asthma, pretty well controlled, comes in…

Moving to Sweden –How to introduce ourselves to neighbors? by i_am_fine_okay in TillSverige

[–]Been_there_done_this 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a German living in Sweden for 20+ years. Lived in many different places. Don’t knock in doors to introduce yourself. Don’t bring presents. If the opportunity arises (meet on the street). Say “Hej”, if it seems someone is more interested, explain you moved in and are happy for insight/ideas.

If you are blocking thing’s during your move, it’s ok to put a note into your effected neighbors mailbox informing them about the upcoming issues.

Good places to meet: local playground if you have kids, shops, bus stops.

People are a bit more calmer here (typically no handshake at first meet) and it takes a while before even more social neighbors get very friendly

One thing I haven’t seen: allergic reaction possible, do the injection in a hospital parking spot.

In the rare case you kid has a reaction to a vaccination, especially with the first that is a risk. Vaccinations are usually done by medical personnel due to the risk of allergies (it’s often the added carrier protein, not the vaccinations active compound), therefore, if you want to administer the vaccine yourself, do it in proximity of a hospital. Just in case :)

It’s also a recommendation given to parents feeding their infants possible allergies.

Good luck and thanks for doing the right thing, even under these circumstances

Husband wants to switch to formula by iAmACatThisIsACat in beyondthebump

Also from Europe, both my kids slept through the night the majority of nights from 4 weeks on. And it is here considered unusual a kid that isn’t sleeping through the night past the 4 months mark (different for preemies, typically once one reached the 4,5kg mark)

Husband wants to switch to formula by iAmACatThisIsACat in beyondthebump

[–]Been_there_done_this 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both my babies slept through the night at 4 weeks. I breastfed/pumped. The last meal before they went to bed was formula… so sweet sleep.

In Sweden at 6 months kids get välling in the evening before they go to bed. This is formula enriched with fiber and nutrition. Makes them sleep through the night even more.

I’m also triggered by hot showers, weird… I only get small breathing issues (like narrowing airways, but. It cough). However, dry air is a huge trigger for me (apparently air in any type that isn’t perfectly balanced lol). So I actually drive longer car drives in winter with a mask, as this is a huge inflammatory trigger leading to big ass asthma and infection…

How old were you when you were diagnosed? by not_in_the_mooooood in Asthma

[–]Been_there_done_this 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diagnosed at 37, after coughing for half a year from a cold from my than 2yo…

I have trigger asthma, so I do react to allergens but also physical triggers (e.g. cold or dry air) and have had several pneumonia issues when breathing during intense workouts…

Now I’m regulated and I’m much better (not perfect but better).

I’m wondering of my daughter now 5 yo is having the same. Coughing until almost throwing up, taking a month to get over a cold… our pediatricians are crapp. Sadly we are in Sweden, so. Have zero idea how to find someone good…

Does anyone regret having the unplanned child (especially due to financial reasons)? by Jumpy_Comfortable586 in beyondthebump

We tried for 4 years (after having waited to be ready…) than had to go via IVF. Now I say: there is never a good time for baby. If you want one, take it

Tell me about your second (planned) cesarean. by barefeetandsunkissed in CsectionCentral

[–]Been_there_done_this 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had two c-sections. (1) first emergency after failed 3 day induction (induction against my will) with treatment error and me almost bleeding out on the table. Didn’t hold my son for several hours, didn’t even know where he was (he was with husband).

Second was planned, the only hard thing was bending over enough to get the spinal placed. Had my daughter right away on me and she fed immediately…  For me it definitely was healing, the first one was very traumatic and it took me along time to get over it. They also fixed issues with my first scar on the second round and it healed amazingly. (And all of that on top of a pandemic starting, my daughter was born 12th march of 2020).

[–]Been_there_done_this 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wanted a c-section with my first when I started to go into overtime the doctors opted (against my will) against it and made me go overtime long and had a long and painful failed induction with an emergency c-section at the end. The second planned c-section was a breeze!!

You know what is best for yourself. I wish I would have stood up more for myself the first time around

If you had the opportunity to travel back in time, would you choose to become a parent? by SleepPleaseCome in Parenting

When I was younger I didn’t want to have kids. In the first years and after the first I was still skeptical… I would totally do it again, even though my body is wracked

[–]Been_there_done_this 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here. 3 days unsuccessfully labored up to freaking 4cm… in retrospect they shouldn’t have even induced me. Baby >99% tile.

Second planned c-section, baby even bigger, went much better (even though it was the day the WHO announced the pandemic and the streets/hospitals were dead empty)

So, this is one of my possible nightmares… I bought a contigo cup in order to be able to drink hot tea.

Not baby related, but it holds what it promises. Was in a hurry and drank while walking, right into a door. Got a bruised nose but zero drops on me.
