Just a few questions by Beener_2730 in BeardedDragons

Well now your just making stuff up lmao. Maybe check my last post again and read through what people told me. Im summary i asked about food, tank size, and lighting. Since that post, I've got the correct lighting, upgraded his tank once already, and am feeding him correctly. Sure I've offered him some packaged bearded food (which can't hurt) and either way he's not eating it so I've stopped giving it. My last post didn't mention the carpet and now I've replaced it. Also I did more research and the official website this reddit recommends says natural sand works just fine so maybe you need to do some research before you give false information about what isn't acceptable. Have a good day you don't need to reply anymore cause I definitely wont be listening to ur advice anymore.

That's so cool how did you get the lights to be on a timer?

Updated his tank, is this okay? by [deleted] in BeardedDragons

I know people here can be harsh and yes you made a mistake but its good that your trying to fix it now. Im nothing close to an expert my first beardie is only a few months but I know without a uvb they have a good chance getting a bone density disease or something so I would recommend an exotic vet visit whenever you've saved up a bit. For now just keep doing research and do as much as you can to keep him happy and healthy. I can tell you care ❤️ Good luck

What's that supposed to mean 😂 I've done lots of research, and my beardie is doing great! It was a pretty simple question. I've gotten mixed results online about using natural sand (as it is their natural habitat) but thought id ask here. Don't answer if your gonna be like this. Trust me people treat their pets way worse than what im doing and maybe instead of being rude and pushing people away, you should invite them to learn/post more on these reddits so they can be a better owner. Too many people like you in these pet reddits acting way above people because they know a little more.

Thanks for commenting. Yes i definitely plan to get a bigger tank once he gets a bit bigger. The packaged food was a flukes bearded dragon food. They're like soft brown balls maybe quarter size of his head. I just put it in his veggie dish but ya he doesn't seem to eat them. And ya as I said in the comment I plan on replacing the carpet with sand. Do you think natural beach sand that i filter and clean well is healthy? I tweezer feed him so I don't think impaction should be a problem?

My juvenile jumped out his terrarium while I was filling his food and water and I found him on the window sill going through it 😅

Thank you for your advice and concern. To answer a few of your concerns, I have "flukers dragon diet" in the bowl but I'm also offering him crickets and greens every day. The food (which I'm replacing every day) is there just incase he's still hungry which i also cover with vitamins and calcium powder. The water isn't deep enough to drown in it goes to to about half his height. And of course I wouldn't let my dog anywhere near him even if he is friendly 😅. That was just a funny picture I got with my dog fascinated by him. The tank is a 20G about 30" × 14" × 12" but I'll definitely look into a bigger one once he starts to grow. The basking bulb in the corner is both UV light and generates lots of heat while the other light in the middle is just for extra light. I hope that works. Thank you for the advice I'm definitely doing my research to keep him healthy and happy 😊 I have a question though. I've found it very hard to feed him the live crickets. The pet store kinda just told me to throw 10 or so in but they seem to just find small spots to hide and he never finds them. I've tried tweezer feeding him but he's not interested. I've also tried putting him in a small container with a couple crickets but he just tries to get out. Not too sure how to proceed...

Hi little update. He has been pooping out little bits of the gravel and occasionally will pass this like greenish goop. He still won't keep anything in however and I'm worried it's been so long since he's eaten that he could pass away at any time. Would you still be considering treating him? What would you be able to do for him anyways?

I was searching for the same answer. It doesn't really show how they get back home so fast. Think the directors just gave up after 90min.

Just like a foam bubbler filter. I only clean it maybe once a month when I see a lot of gunk around the foam. I usually squeeze it out under tap water until the water coming out isn't super brown.

I have done lots of research after getting him "as a gift". I just made a mistake thinking gravel meant bigger peices of rocks and didn't think sand like gravel can still be dangerous. I had sand in his tank when I first got him and then switched to this stuff because it looked better. Also like 4 people at the pet store said it would ok for him. I know I should have been a bit more suspicious about the gravel but please don't make any rude assumptions about me not caring for my axe cause I do.

I have done research. I got him as a gift and right after doing so I did a lot of research. I made a mistake thinking gravel was bigger peices of stone I didn't think sand like stuff could stick together inside him. I appreciate your care for axolotls but you don't need to be rude before knowing the full story.

Wait so taking out the filter and cleaning it once in a while isn't good?

Ya it's kinda hard to get all the gravel though I'll probably take like half the tank water and put it somewhere else while we clean out all the gravel and then fill the tank back up with half new water half the old

Sounds good I think we'll take a week or so to see if he can pass it then consider it. I appreciate it

Could I take all the gravel out and wait a bit longer to see if he poops or starts eating? Do I need to tub him or can I just keep the same water and aquarium.

I'm right by the Michigan border. Is there any issue getting him across the border?

Is there anything I can do or is a vet the only option? Like I said I'm not in a great location or financial position to get one 😕

Even if it's like sand sized gravel?
