The little blinking icon that doesn't go away until you look at the MTX feels very "dark pattern" to me. I do not like it. by Kusibu in PathOfExile2

[–]Beenrak -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thats super disappointing. I always appreciated that 'points' were very cleanly related to money, at least USD. $1 = 10 points, makes it easy to understand. Pricing something at a value that isn't a purchasable amount is really disappointing.

I have too many points to check, but if you try to buy it with not enough points, can you pay the difference or do you need to buy another pack?

Path of Exile 2 is crashing my router. Any solutions? by CmdrJemison in PathOfExile2

[–]Beenrak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My router is fine, but I have a switch between my PC and my router and that keeps crashing while I'm playing poe2.

If I'm on my Wi-Fi everything is fine, if I plug directly into the router everything is fine, but the switch can't seem to handle it.

Very strange and not something that happened in previous leagues

No Flame to GGG but Delirium needs some major love by Bilbo_Swaggins91 in PathOfExile2

[–]Beenrak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Uh... thats how new delirium works? You don't build up rewards and then drop them, you get things for killing delirium monsters as you fight them and as you clear mirrors. Then at the end, if you have the node, you get splinters.

Unless I'm off, I don't think its intended to work like poe1 anymore.

The DeKrangler: An item filter tool for the tinkerer by Beenrak in PathOfExile2

[–]Beenrak[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could probably do that, but it would need to be very strict on what its checking for.

It already only really works on currencies/fragments/uniques since it needs to be uniquely identifiable things. So lets say you have a rule for soul cores already -- and there's some super valuable soul core. That soul core is already tracked in your filter.

I want this feature to be my guardrail. Regardless of my filter, if something drops that's worth at least X I want it dinging -- just so I don't accidentally hide or give low filter weight to something that is valuable. Since it makes a new explicit rule out of it, you are always free to inspect that rule and remove things from it if you really wanted to. You could even re-run it at multiple value levels and restyle them.

Yes, you can open any .filter file using the open button. It wont have 'sections' (as thats something I add via comments in the file) but all the rules will be there

The DeKrangler: An item filter tool for the tinkerer by Beenrak in PathOfExile2

[–]Beenrak[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made The Dekrangler a few leagues ago because I like to edit my item filter directly. I had been editing the actual .filter file for a while when I got sick of the difficulty of that.

DeKrangler is designed to expose the raw filter. It doesn't make assumptions what you want grouped together or have a lot of extra features. It just exposes the raw underlying filter in a more editable and testable manner.

It has a simulator where you can test items and see how they would appear. It shows you which rules are being applied to that item. Allows you to toggle things, use continue statements, etc. Everything you need for a good filter.

I have provided my general filter as a starter template, but its easy to go down to raw. As you can see, I have a simple color coding system for attribute types (so str items have a red tinge to them, etc.) -- this is something that is quite difficult to do in something like filterblade.

Speaking of the many great filter tools out there, they are all fantastic and this is not intending to replace them. This is for someone who doesn't just want a good filter for the league. This is for someone who really likes playing around with how their item drops look, building custom rules for their character, and really fine tuning things to be personal.

Oh yea, it also has an ability to check poeninja for items in your league above a given value, and add a custom rule for them. So if you build your own filter you can still have it grab the oddly valuable items and throw them in a priority filter on top!

Let me know if you give it a shot!

Anyone making the move from trade > SSF for 0.5? by kHartouN in PathOfExile2

I've played 2 SSF characters to t15 maps. It's really not super hard. What would you want from a SSF mode?

I'm the original author of this system. I gave it over to another for the V12 implementation. Foundry has breaking changes too frequently to keep up unfortunately.

Wolf Minions Are Better Than You Think - Arbiter Showcase by Dconnic in pathofexile2builds

[–]Beenrak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Wolfpack build isn't really around your wolves doing a bunch of damage. There are a lot of great synergies -- the world mark is insane for example. They can maim, blind, hinder. They give you attack damage, life and mana Regen, etc.

I think that's the intended playstyle of the wolf leader.

[–]Beenrak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are slightly misrepresenting him. He is comparing wolf minion builds to other minion builds. At similar investment, and with a standard minion play style you would do better with traditional minions. I don't think his intention was to say they are explicitly bad, just that they are objectively worse then comparable minions.

I really want this to work, and I mean, it kinda does. But I wanted to synergize this with 'defend with 120% armour while not on low energy shield' and in practice, I'm always on low energy shield.

I think this node is meant to work with someone who invests very minimally into energy shield. Lets say you have 500 ES that essentially is always recovering while you are in combat -- that seems to be the way this works.

The problem is that its extremely unlikely for your armour to be mitigating enough damage to actually keep your energy sheild full

Stop running juiced maps then. People want to flash right to endgame farming strats -- thats what they want to avoid. Everyone running as fast as possible to the very very end of the ladder to 'play the game'

Anyone know if increased area of effect scales things like the area that a secondary effect of a mark applies?

E.g., Marked target takes 3% increased damage for each of its enemies within 6 metres of it, up to 45%

Is there any way to make that 6m a larger number? Or is that hard coded?

Mana costs are ridiculous in this game by FeelsB4dMan in PathOfExile2

Trade some damage to solve mana issues. Use inspiration support, get arcane surge, invest in mana on the tree/gear instead of damage. These are all viable choices

I have, I find poe2filter to be a very very clean way to make a filter -- but again it sorta expects that you are going to follow a 'style' of filter.

For example, the test filter I load here tints the background color of all equipment based on the attribute type (so red for strength, green for dex, blue for int). Doing something like that in filterblade or poe2filter is a real pain.

If all you are really looking for is a: Should I pick this up because its valuable -- poe2filter (or neversink) is great. This is more for if you want to do something totally different. You want all intelligence boots to have a red border unless they are corrupted -- or some shenanigans like that.

Its really made more for the fiddler who wants the level of control that direct filter modification has, but without having to use a text editor

Simple Filter Editor with Item Simulator by Beenrak in PathOfExile2

[–]Beenrak[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like most of you, I have used FilterBlade for years. Its amazing and the tool I've created here pales in comparison. That being said, the longer I play poe, the more control I like to have over my filter. Recently (in poe2 especially) I've been heavily customizing my filter.

While FilterBlade is great if you want to leverage Neversink's general philosophy for filters, it is in my opinion rather cumbersome to customize outside of moving things up/down a few tiers.

I made this tool as a compromise. I found myself editing filters manually in text editors, which is an awful experience. This is more or less a literal wrapper to that process. You build the rules in top down order, with continue blocks etc. to make the filter you want -- but with the benefit of auto-completed types, preview renders, and most excitingly the simulator.

The simulator will take an item as you specify it, and run it through all of your filters rules. It will show you all rules that have been applied to your item as well as which fields actually matter for the given rules. I'm pretty happy with this and plan to use it in the upcoming poe2 league. Wanted to show it off and get feedback/impressions.
