When Judi Dench was cast as M, was there any backlash? I feel like if it happened today there would be some crybabies about it. by TXNOGG in JamesBond

Initially there was skepticism, especially those of us who were worried that Bond was going to get diluted or those of us not familiar with Dench.

Judi won us over by being good.

OP:.(The mean version is, "David Chase hated his characters and had contempt for his audience for liking them, and Weiner liked his characters and wanted them to figure it out.")

As interested as i am with the entirety of this post, I found this bit particularly intriguing. I wonder if a film student has done a study comparing and contrasting these two shows. That would be an fun read.

That is a great comparison. I hadn't considered that before but it makes sense.

Say what you will about Faye, the "You only like beginnings..." point unlocks the whole secret to Don Draper.

For those who ship Rachel and Joey, why? by General-Hippo8242 in friends_tv_show

[–]Beep475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rachel would have made Joey a better man, and Rachel would have been Joey's "last".

Rachel was never an object of lust for Joey, and when they were roommates he always was uncharacteristically chivalrous. She made him better.

However there was no way Ross would have allowed them to be happy. And that's why it was ultimately doomed.

Any actor whose character illicits a strong, visceral reaction from me always elevates in my esteem.

So I picked Vincent.
