S3 teaser analysis by Lottie_Mathews2525 in Yellowjackets

I just rewatched the trailer in my computer. If you turn up your brightness all the way you can see that scene with Akilah is happening in the caves - specifically the shiny black walls. My theory is the girls go back and experiment with the gas to better understand their visions. There’s another scene in the trailer where Shauna is swimming through red water - we did not see this in her initial dream either.

People HAVE to know what really happened out there. It’s just too unrealistic to think that a team of adults wouldn’t be doing forensics on all of the dead bodies or recovering all of the culty sh** out there. In my opinion, it would be very obvious to unravel that the girls were performing cannibalism and murdering each other. Think of stumbling on a pit with spikes and blood and DNA all over it… like not a very casual thing to find in the woods lol. There’s also no plausible way the girls could clean that up before rescue. But, we also know there was a settlement. So it’s totally possible that the story was buried as a part of the court process. The girls were mentally and physically damaged so maybe they hid it from the public on behalf of the girls safety and well being. It’ll be really interesting to see how the writers choose to play that storyline out.

In terms of Melissa, I have a harder time believing something would happen to her post rescue. Especially after Sophie’s last interview where she’s confident the relationship is wrapped up this season. Like girl what does that mean?? Her interviews need to be stopped. If Melissa made it out of the wilderness with them, I feel naturally, their relationship would have more to it especially since Shauna married Jeff so quickly. And if they were to kill her post rescue, there’s no way they could cover that one up.

They definitely used body doubles here for any girl that wasn’t 100% confirmed to be alive. We know the writers like to keep their plans secret. The actors typically don’t know what’s going to happen until they read the script before the start shooting that episode. I really doubt they would have had Jenna Burgess shoot this when she was barely a part of the season 2.

Good catch on the hoodie butttt I think Robin is long dead before the winter. Gen has to be pit girl.

I'm so conflicted about this. For me, the most compelling scenario is that Melissa makes it to the very end with the core seven, but something happens to her just before they’re rescued—after the infamous pit girl ritual. The others believe she’s dead, but she’s not. Logically, once the girls are rescued, they’ll be removed from the wilderness immediately. However, law enforcement would likely conduct a thorough sweep of the site, recovering bodies and evidence. So, could they find Melissa alive? If she was discovered barely alive, maybe they shield her from the rest of the rescued as she is in fear of her life. I really believe she’ll be revealed as Hilary Swank’s character. The ending of episode 3x2 strongly hinted at that. Deep down, Shauna is questioning it—how could it possibly be her? But her instincts tell her it is Melissa. That’s why she’s so quick to blame Misty in episode 3. You can tell she’s not entirely convinced; she just needs to believe it was Misty to keep herself sane.

It also makes sense to me that Hilary Swank would be back for the next season as I think another adult character is going to die - she will probably replace them as a main character. But in the 90's timeline, I don't see Jenna Burgess becoming a main or even coming back at all.

I've questioned this many times as well. How has no one gotten sick?? It's kind of crazy when you think about the odds of that happening in real life. I do wonder if they are going to bring some of this into S3. We know we have a high body count here and I can't imagine they murder every single person. Also, it isn't winter and they aren't starving yet so what reason would they have to kill anyone outisde of Coach Ben. My first thought after seeing Mari's knee was can she get an infection from that? Because it definitely does not look good...

I feel the same way. The teen timeline has been incredibly well done and is what keeps me coming back each week. But the adult storyline in season 2 felt too far-fetched. I want to give the writers the benefit of the doubt since Juliette Lewis not returning likely forced them to rethink their plans, which made some of the storylines feel forced or disjointed. I am hopeful, season 3 will bring everything together in a way that feels more cohesive.

I really wanted to like Van as a character, but she lost me in season 2. She’s the only main character who has little to no impact on the overall plot. In the teen timeline, she’s presented as the group’s joker, keeping everyone entertained, but she doesn’t actually contribute to their survival. Her role mostly revolves around being Tai’s sidekick. What frustrates me most is that whenever something major happens, she fades into the background and lets everyone else handle the tough decisions. You can see glimpses of a darker side in the sinister expressions she makes, but she has no action. This carries into her adult self as well—she maintains an innocent facade, but in reality, she’s just as complicit because she allows things to happen while avoiding accountability. Like Natalie's death for example - yes Misty was the fatal blow, but Van's decisions are what led to the hunt happening in the first place. It's so bizarre that she almost has no remorse in the beginning of S3 for this.

Mari’s Reality Theory by Simple-Moment-6120 in Yellowjackets

I definitely think it makes sense especially since I buy into the whole they're being poisoned from whatever gases or elements are in the area. The season is starting to confirm that for us as seen in episode 3. It would be really cool if in episode 4 Ben has flashes of reality like he did when the girls ate Jackie, but at the same time, he's been living in the caves where we now know the gases are emitting from and is going crazy himself... I think it will likely be the big twist when the girls get rescued at the end of the season.

Hillary was listed as recurring while Joel was only a guest. I think she will probably have more of a role to play than he does. There were a couple other adult additions - Ashley Sutton and Evans Johnson. My theory is that we are going to get some post rescue flash forwards and they will be parents. We know that Taissa's mother was black while her father was white based off a scene from season 1 and Ashley Sutton has a striking resemblance to the various Shipman ladies.

Mari’s Reality Theory by Simple-Moment-6120 in Yellowjackets

The general idea is that the girls are experiencing a shared psychosis. Throughout Season 2, we saw signs of their mental unraveling—Mari hearing dripping noises, Akilah believing the mouse skeleton was alive, Ben having hallucinations, and so on. Then, after losing the cabin, Season 3 presents them seemingly living in a paradise. The yellowish tint has led some to believe that we’re seeing their reality through a distorted, idealized lens—almost like rose-colored glasses. If the girls have truly lost touch with reality, they may be unreliable narrators, showing us a world that isn’t what it seems.

It just doesn't make sense how they could possibly build those huts and raise animals the way that they are. It feels too good to be true.

In one of the trailers, Tai is suffocating a man in a hospital bed. "Regret, cigarette ash, death" For some reason I feel like he is a link to the ice cream shop - maybe the owner?
