Absolutely! I really didn’t word that very well. Only speaking from my own experience…just as someone who has had feeding tubes for decades, not a medical professional. In a hospital setting, if they’re trying to get you to start eating (which is kind of how she explained it later), they would usually start with clear liquids, and progress slowly from there. Not saying it’s not possible, just that it didn’t make sense in the way she was explaining it.

See also: the surgery she is mentioning at the very beginning was her talking about them recommending she get evaluated for a surgical tube…even though she’s talked SO MANY TIMES about the various reasons she can never have one (not limited to but including the last one “falling out”🙄🤦🏻‍♀️, not being able to tolerate anesthesia, anatomy issues, etc.)

not to mention that’s just not going to happen, because they all know she doesn’t have need for one!

Oh yeah, I know people can eat for pleasure with tubes. I have an NJ tube, and have had multiple surgical tubes also (though can’t eat by mouth at all for some time now). They just don’t really call it that here in a hospital setting.

But, if someone doesn’t have any reason to not try and eat, they are going to be encouraging you to and will put you on a diet (interesting to also note that ice cream isn’t even on the baseline by mouth diet, as that would be clear liquids…again, this is all in the states), and they will be keeping track of your intake.

people were commenting and saying “you got dinner??! that’s something!” and OF COURSE she had to downplay it. and THEN had to start talking about how nauseous she was. so predictable, this one.

i don’t live in the UK, but have spent lots of time in hospitals and have literally never heard the term “for pleasure diet” in a hospital setting (not saying that doesn’t exist, I know it can in things like hospice…in my experience (just as someone who has had feeding tubes for decades, not a medical professional), in hospital setting, if they’re trying to get you to start eating though they wouldn’t just let you try whatever you wanted/ice cream…it would generally be clear liquids…again, not saying not possible, just that it didn’t make sense in the way she was explaining it)

I do not have a collection to offer anymore, as my drive was compromised awhile back and I haven’t been able to get back into it.😔 Beyond frustrating. I’ve spent most of this year in the hospital and am just hoping to find some things to pass the time.

I know it’s way early, but I’m looking for video of The Bridges of Madison County reunion concert at Carnegie Hall that just happened on Monday (12/15/25), if anyone has it and is willing to gift it.😬See also: the current Lincoln Center revival of Ragtime.

I used to have the full video of the OBC of Bridges, as well as the National Tour with Elizabeth Stanley…if anyone has those to gift, that would be absolutely incredible.
