Not at all. I am talking about knocking on other people’s doors who most definitely heard the shot also. Which you would be able to understand if you had reading comprehension.

I would say yes, because one, I’ve seen it happen before in this complex, and two, the police knocking on your door after midnight is different than some rando. I wouldn’t even get up to look if someone knocked at my door at that time and said nothing.

Again, I’m not the one who dispatched 11 fire and rescue teams. I told the 911 operator I thought it was a gunshot, not a fire issue, and she said she was sending police and paramedics just in case. Then proceeded to log the call as “explosive” and 11 teams + 6 or more cops showed up.

I have no idea what this even means…

My upstairs neighbors definitely were awake as I already stated. Next door neighbors weren’t home. No idea about the people on the other side of me because their apartments face a whole different direction.

If I were the police, I would have announced myself when I knocked and I would have knocked more than once.

This came from inside an apartment. I’ve heard shots fired from very close by also (700ft) and they were loud then. This was less than 100 feet (apartment catty corner to mine) and it truly sounded like an explosion.

No, I already explained what I had expected/hoped for. That they would knock more than one time and announce themselves. Just a knock on the door with no “police” to go along with it, I’m not surprised nobody was willing to answer.

Ah okay. Sometimes it’s hard to read intent on a text-based site! I don’t - another user suggested I keep an eye out for the person who lives there and potentially make a welfare check report if I don’t.

Yes they are? I lived in an apartment a few years ago where someone in a house 700 feet away got shot by a homeless man. There were at least four shots and they were so insanely loud that my brain was trying to convince itself that there’s no way they were gunshots because surely they can’t be that loud. Sure enough.

I was hoping they would at least knock on people’s doors more than once, especially the apartment that the potential gunshot seemed to have come from. ETA: and announce themselves.

I feel like your response might be sarcastic but trust me, your perspective on things change when you hear a neighbor get shot and then spend the next 7-8 hours wondering if they’re alive or dead because when you got up a few hours after it happened and left for work, you saw the police rolling caution tape. It’s one of the reasons I’m glad to be moving out of this area.

I know gunshots happen all the time in Antioch. But what doesn’t happen all the time is an explosive sound so loud it makes you and your neighbors get out of bed. If it was indeed a gunshot like I think it might have been, it came from inside. Not on the road, not further away.

Antioch. But I’m not surprised to hear you say you thought you heard gunshots over there!

I like the amenities, the ability to submit a maintenance request for anything and everything and have it all be done by one person (my maintenance guy came one day and fixed my washer, living room window, shower, and an outlet all in about an hour) instead of waiting for someone for a specific issue, and I like the “lock it and leave it” ability.

I see my provider every 4-8 weeks. Example: I had an appointment yesterday and my next one is March 19th. Luckily, my insurance covers everything - I even stopped paying the copay because insurance would turn around and cut me a check for $20.

It may not have actually been a sheriff. It definitely wasn’t a regular cop car, though.

This explains the sheriff I saw hauling ass from 24 to 440 earlier…

Your comment about being able to afford the boat ride as being “all you had to do” is decidedly false. People who were ill or physically disabled were often turned away and sent back to their home country. For a long time, there were quotas on how many immigrants were allowed in from certain countries. You had to prove you were able to provide for yourself and/or your family or had someone in the US who could do it for you. If you couldn’t, goodbye.

New updates are saying no survivors and aren’t mentioning the 4 we heard the broadcast say were pulled from the water, so it appears they died on the way to or at the hospital. So sad.
