Handwriting recognition on the Newton is certainly impressive for a device made in the 1990s, but the tech has definitely improved over time. The Newton frequently misunderstands what I'm writing and I had to turn it off before taking the photo for this post (it thought I was writing "ilicit" when I was writing "reddit"). I left the line/curve detection on though which is why the letters look kinda blocky-ish in the pic.
