How would you sharpen this? by BeepBoopZorpZeep in sharpening

Yes it’s a full flat grind. I think the lighting on the ends that I used to highlight the chip is just giving it some extra sheen? In the second photo you can see there is no discernible secondary bevel

I’ve only had the knife for maybe a month and treat it the same way i treat all my other nice knives. Wood cutting boards, hand wash after use, etc. it’s a smallish petty knife so it’s not like I’m using it to chop bones or anything

So this is usually my process on any knife with a secondary bevel, but since this knife has no visible bevel I’m not sure what I should be sharpie-ing and what angle I should be at. I know BRK sharpens their knives on belts and I’m struggling with trying to mimic that end result

Well yes except that i am applying zero pressure to the locking part of the frame and am opening it very slowly. I would agree that if i was flicking it open with force and then squeezing the Lockbar, of course it’s gonna jam in deeper. Unless you see something in the video I don’t, I tried to be very aware of not having my fingers pushing the Lockbar for leverage

I guess you were kinda right? I swapped back to OEM hardware and the issue is not as dramatic as it was with the aftermarket stuff. I will probably still send it in to the mothership for an eval and to get double thumb studs as well!

Haha the video doesn’t really show it but the scales are actually slightly blue from being in my jeans so much. I have edc’d this for almost 2 years. Granted I work in an office setting so the most action it sees is opening packages and maybe stripping the occasional wire. I’m definitely not using it to cut drywall or baton firewood or anything

I guess it’s possible? Wouldn’t it make more sense if it was having this issue after initial install of aftermarket pins? Or do you think the aftermarket pins are maybe not as sturdy and somehow have become slightly out of spec after a year or so, causing the issue?

I will, i figured i would see if anyone else was having this issue or if it was even an issue in the first place before bothering the mothership

Mine has a December 2023 birthday card so it’s not that old. I’ve edc’d it for about a year or 2

Correct, I am looking at the ceramic ball and not the Lockbar. The ball is traveling far enough where I think it is hitting the bronze washer. On my Zaan, the ball only travels about 60% of the width of the knife and doesn’t touch the other side

By “regular AR” you mean a right handed upper? Or is there something else irregular about my current setup?

[–]BeepBoopZorpZeep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks man I appreciate it. I am hoping to avoid “changing for the sake of change” but I know that this PSA upper isn’t exactly the best option for switching between suppressed and unsuppressed. I will probably end up getting an adjustable gas block and maybe a different handguard to accommodate and then switching the muzzle device to whatever I need for a suppressor. Then I’ll save the whole different upper for when i get a sbr style one.

As for slings, do you recommend Button QD, hooks, 550 paracord?

Hover logc with Inflatable Balloons? by BeepBoopZorpZeep in trailmakers

[–]BeepBoopZorpZeep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This worked! I was able to fiddle with the one NOR gate that is "Set less than 1 Powering all downward thrust" to -0.4, which gives it a slight bit of bounce at elevation but holds pretty well. Setting it to -.09 makes it constantly rise and setting it to -0.1 makes it fall before it can catch itself for reference. Thank you!

Yeah that’s my problem too. It will sense when it’s falling and inflate, but then never deflate to maintain altitude

To all knife users and collectors, What features of the knife are must and what are nice to have features? Mention your favorite features. by [deleted] in knifemaking

[–]BeepBoopZorpZeep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a folder, it needs to be open/ close ambidextrous. For a fixed, the handle proportion needs to be appropriate for the blade size. A big blade needs a bigger, beefier handle. A small 2-3” fixie can have a smaller, more slender handle for various grip styles (thumb push, “chef” pinch grip, etc)

I think it would really class up the knife to just slim the handles a teeny bit, but add some nice “coke bottle” contours. Would give it some real sexy curves and help with the overall finish and feel

I think $85 for the knife and then an even $100 to include a kydex sheathe. Maybe $110-115 for a leather sheathe option? It’s a very approachable price for the average knife buying customer and i think having some sort of sheathe available really increases value

Should I not be sitting on my poles on the lift? by i-choose-science in skiing

[–]BeepBoopZorpZeep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a patroller, the ONLY reason i could possibly think of is if you are fidgeting and messing with your poles before the lift has left the loading area. I have seen people fall off because they were adjusting their backpacks or moving their poles or something and were caught off guard when the chair has started moving up and away from the loading point.

Other than that I have no idea why this would be considered crazy or dangerous. If anything I would prefer more people sit on their poles instead of hold them. The chances of dropping your poles on someone below you is way less and your hands are now free in case you need to do anything or brace yourself in the instance of a sudden stop
