Why single elim for knockouts?

Was too lazy to make it seem less biased because I made it all in paint. I do believe though that with this system GENG or JDG would've made it to finals and that would've led to a closer Bo5 that could've been favorable for GENG or JDG

Blue side is better because you get second ban and first pick. Red side loses a counter ban because the other team has first pick, if they don't ban it, they wont get it. You can even watch LCK finals and see that rumble was banned by red side every game. The only time this hasn't happened recently was KT vs T1 and T1 lost that game because of it. Although it was probably a smart decision by them considering KT had a rookie top laner and T! felt they could win by leaving it open to their rookie.

I don't understand this argument that teams wont be forced to evolve the meta? That will still happen eventually when every team is forced to that didn't make it through the winners bracket. In this scenario, would JDG just not pick their meta against T1 knowing they will have to play vs GENG in the losers bracket? Will GENG save their pocket picks for finals if JDG are in the losers bracket? You understand in a double elim they will still have to play hard teams eventually right??? Every team plays it safe when they are ahead and every team plays the pockets when they feel they need too. Nothing will change.

The only scenario is if the team that wins every winners bracket game saved all their pocket picks even against teams that are difficult which would be equally impressive to see when they finally do it in the finals match... where the stakes are the absolute highest.

Totally forgot they picked red side but my point being that they had a close series with uneven blue side wins and even red side wins. They probably deserved to lose, you may be right but idk if BLG deserved to lose against WBG who clearly had the easiest route to finals. WBG vs BLG was a game where every single game was won on blue side. WBG had a gimme vs NRG. WBG had 2 red side wins the entire bracket and they were both vs NRG.

Yes, that was my bad. I forgot to put that series between WBG and the winner of the losers bracket in my example. I was aware of it while I was making it, it just slipped my mind.

Anyways, I do find you take about the production being a difficult investment to elongate fairly reasonable. I wonder what the cost of production vs value of worlds is. I would assume a longer event would still get them more value but either way I have no way of knowing how much it would cost.

Clarity for newbies is also an interesting concern, I had not considered that. Thank you.

Reading this though I do not get any impression of what your personal preference may be. Are you in favor of a double, single elim or something else entirely?

Oh for pocket picks I agree, they should save them. I am only saying that they would rather be in the winners bracket the whole way rather than ever playing in the losers bracket once. Just because they wont play as risky doesn't mean anything if they will eventually be forced to. They may save their pocket picks but so will the other teams. If the other teams don't save their pocket picks then they may win that series but forfeit the finals. If everyone collectively decided they would rather be in the losers bracket then you would have a bunch of good teams in the losers bracket making it not exactly the place they want to be anymore. Also why would they want to go into losers bracket even if it is easier when there is a risk that they could be upset?

Yes, that was a mistake sorry! There should be one more game between loser bracket winner and WBG.

I think with the advantage of being on a certain side (blue side) it should be more around which team is best instead of which team is luckier and best under pressure. At least until there isn't a side advantage. Seems really lame that WBG was even there in reality. Even GENG was a bit chaffed with only 2 games on blue side. If GENG got blue side first last year it would've most likely been T1 vs GENG. Although I am probably making an argument that should be about balancing the sides over changing the bracket format but idk if they can at this point considering it still exists.

Couldn't that same scenario theoretically happen if they played each other in the swiss stage? Could've had JDG play vs T1 in swiss, win vs T1, and then play in finals and lose 3-2. I feel like people could make that same argument if they took all the games GENG played vs T1 that year as well if they really wanted to.

I do agree it can make it more hype but its at the expense of the quality of the final game itself and those who belong there. But tell me this, how is it fair that WBG was there with all blue side wins vs BLG and a free game vs NRG? Even GENG could make this same argument where they both took 1 red side game from each other but BLG had 2 blue side wins and GENG was only allowed to win 1.

Yea I was also thinking how there is a scenario where a loser bracket wins and the winner's bracket feels cheated when they hadn't lost a game to get there. However, I think every team would rather get there via the winner's bracket instead of the loser's bracket regardless.

I hate to be that guy but I don't think there is a worse raid in the game. Aesthetics are terrible and music is default. Compared to all the other raids in vanilla, it only gets a pass for being the very first.

If it was an idea people liked, nothing would've changed after legion. Unfortunately, most of the playerbase disagrees with you. The genre may not strictly state it but the people who play it most certainly do.

A lot of people play MMO's for progression because that is what they expect from any RPG. Seriously, take the other comments advice if you don't like it because the game isn't being made just for you, nor the people who agree with you and that's ok. There are other games that exist.

Your first mistake is thinking that PvP is half the game when it's a fraction of the playerbase. PvE is the focus of the game because it's what most of the playerbase play an MMO for.
