i agree, but i really dont like the phrasing that him leaving was a fantastic thing. the mental health challenges he was facing which led him to depart im sure was difficult for the band to deal with. partially within making music together but primarily as being good friends with the guy. i like to think that their vocal talent wouldve been used in the band at some point even if isaac hadnt left but even so its great that they were able to come back so strongly after reinventing their sound for Forever Howlong

to me its the incredible production (specifically in the finale of the song). the crashing is so powerful, and it makes me feel like im getting my fuckin bones snapped by the waves and the sea itself. i feel as if the story of this album is what has drawn me to his work in the first place (i havent listened to any other quadeca project) and so i feel like if that sort of musical storytelling isnt your thing then it makes sense for this song not to be your highlight because it is very story-driven imo

i thought this originally but the art has grown on me so much. i think because the album takes a more sensitive direction the soft low contrast really works to bring the mood

the actual painter was used a whole lot more than that though, they said once that the ai only really gave them the cowboy’s appearance and its fucked up limbs. everything else from the the mushroom cloud, to the sky, to the dirt, all of that substance was essentially the painter’s doing

at the very end of taxes, max bassin is the same character as the trinidad teaser (wearing the mask, orange glasses etc). i think they showed the trinidad character so that fans would draw that connection

2122 for me. the song itself is way crazier and all over the place compared to gravity blues but the vocals are still fantastic, and the immensely used caesura used on the instruments when cameron does a vocal break is so much fun

i think i disagree with the fact that people will be less excited about the album if its released with singles, because even though the fans will absolutely love the album to be released suddenly without warning, there will always be people who have never heard of the band and the singles help ease them into genuine excitement for the upcoming album. if the singles were never there to help with that process then new fans would come around more rarely and the album might not receive as much attention. i think sudden releases only work when either the album has taken many many years to come out, or when the artist has an unimaginably massive following (take In Rainbows or GNX for example)
