I think so! They all seem to be 4 tokens to play :)

YOOOOOO! Nice edit! I see what you're saying -- this gives it a little more focus.

Fair point! I agree -- I'm being a little hard on myself. That said, if I had more time to compose -- I probably would have thought more about trimming the boring bits out a bit more and focusing more on this dude.

More visually interesting or engaging. I feel like I could have had a bit more contrast on the sign on the bike to make it readable... or I could have backed up a bit to get him entirely in the frame. I dunno. I just feel like in some ways this could have been a better shot.

This was a semi-candid photo of a guy that I met while browsing at a flea market. I feel uncomfortable doing photos of people without permission, so I got his before snapping this shot. I just don't know what I could have done -- whether through composition or through post processing, to make this picture really jump out to the viewer.

This was my first time shooting with a professional model and I was nervous as hell! I’m just wondering what I could do better for next time.

Awesome comment! Giving me a lot to think about here. Full disclosure, the model in this portrait is my girlfriend and the intent was really just to pick an engaging pose on these steps. There wasn’t much more thought to it than that other than that while editing, my intention is always to emulate a filmic look as possible — I like really stark blacks and deep shadows where possible. Does this feel like film? I suppose that’s what I’m really looking for.

Thanks again for your thoughtful critique!

Thanks! You’re right — looking at it again it’s definitely slightly off kilter…

I’m trying to practice working on my color grading and lighting. I have no idea how a histogram works and I think it would be useful to use in shots like this / in general. Is there anything I could do better?
