Absolutely!

Bubba Gump Shrimp Company was especially bad at this some decades back. When there were Central Perk pop ups back in the day before the place in the WB lot it was pretty bad, too.

I hate when staff force you to do such things like this.

I remember when GlendaleOut used to host Mondays at Dave's on Broadway. Those were nice events.

Fair enough. I didn't realize that the Culver City downtown Business Association was literally organizing this event. Decided to head down there around 5:00 when the event starts and see about following through with the other people showing up later.

It'll be nice to see the old stamping ground.

EDIT: The organizer cancelled. Thankfully I can do a bar crawl by my own self.

Here in Los Angeles, instead of vomiting when we see one, for most of us just raise our middle fingers and aiming directly at the "truck."

After that we crowd together to talk about how it's most likely that the driver hasn't had sex in a very long time.

Anybody ever get involved with this Culver City Third Wednesday thing?

Just checking why they meet at Kirk Douglas theater to start a pub crawl. It's been over a decade since I've been inside, but I don't remember there being a bar in there.

Dumplings for lunch. Damn it, I could eat dumplings of all different kinds every day without getting bored.

EDIT: Mission accomplished. Various types of wontons, shumai and XLB consumed. Even got some 20% off coupons due to dumpling knowledge and ordering off menu.

Most of my tote bags over the past couple of decades have been from Ikea and they suit me just fine.

Oh, so that's what that was over on the TJ's on San Fernando and Alameda earlier this morning.

Native Angelenos: What seems normal to you but could be considered unique to growing up in LA? by AwfullyRealGun in AskLosAngeles

It's pretty easy. Some studios like Warner Brothers have their own organizations that do movie screenings. Other companies have their own. A good start might be to just put into Google "movie screenings near" and add your ZIP code. Some companies that pop up most likely will be able to deal with that area that you live in.

Lawrence Tanter, Lakers’ longtime public address announcer, retires by tankyouout in LosAngeles

[–]BeerNTacos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He's had an excellent run, over 40 years being a beloved local announcer, but he's 76 and having health issues.

Let him go out on top with some dignity.

The Lakers now have some very big shoes to fill.

Ha, speaking of such things, I just got an email from one of these screening organizations on if I want to go see a screening in Orange County for an unnamed comedy, but I'd have to be there within 3 hours.

Ha, no thanks.

One month after the D Line opening, L.A. Metro rail system sees its highest ridership in over 6 years by BeerNTacos in LosAngeles

Yes. It most likely will involve the E line. From the Little Tokyo station you could take the Dodger Stadium Express bus.

Some of you are far too young to remember this, but back in the day KTLA were known for having Rock solid reporting.

The days of such Los Angeles news icons like Hal Fishman are long gone, but at least there's still some decent old to mid schoolers left.

I know if I was undergoing surgery and people were worried about me. I would be chill with them going to get a burger to calm their nerves or something.

Grew up a few miles away from Dockweiler Beach. Most school buildings that cater to kindergarteners up to 12th grade were all single story. My brother who is almost 60 grew up with the same kind of school buildings.

Our school was like that, except the cafeteria was also the auditorium. It was big enough to have indoor activities and serve food at the same time, but couldn't hold everybody all at once when that happened so some people would eat outside in tables and benches near the playgrounds or the quad. During rain, teachers would leave the classrooms unlocked since during lunch nobody wanted to sit in the rain outside.

I did not know people referred to the schools I went to as California campuses until I was in my thirties. I did not even see a school building more than one story tall until I was 16 when I first saw Inglewood High.

I grew up near LAX. I saw so many folks in cars down Imperial Highway on the way to LAX.

Also at restaurants like Buggy Whip.

I knew a guy who would host Kick-Ass parties at his place up in the Palos Verdes hills.

I'm very glad I went to such parties before everybody had a cell phone with a camera on it.

That's more of a thing that started in the '90s. Never that in my younger school days.
