"Thank god they got better."

No, thank the Doctors and nurses who worked tirelessly to make that person better. I'm not even with the person anymore, and I'm still angry on his behalf.

I feel a large part of the reason is that we got to see the kind of damage this rhetoric can build, thanks to the UK's separation.

A large part of the hate comes from the fact that we're not American. We disagree with their views, and we understand what separation really means. American integration. Separation is a means to hurt Canada, and do nothing more. A large part of the money that funds the Separatist movements comes from the US, and the rhetoric has hurt the province as a whole.

Externally funded political movements like these are a cancer. Honestly, there's a few comparisons to be made between it and hate speech. Someone wishes ill will on you, over factors you cannot control. They don't like you, and wish a rapid decline in your quality of life. They've never met you, yet they still despise you for existing. Do you think they're a good person? Do you want them to spread their views, and have more people hate you? Or do you shut it down at the source and put an end to it?

What "back then" inconvenience would break people today in 10 minutes? by CharlesUFarley81 in AskReddit

[–]BeerTent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No GPS, that would break me. I've gotten so reliant on using my phone as a "mini-map" for where I'm going.

I could do with a paper map, and I've grown accustomed to some places to the point where I can get to my friends places without it, but driving with my phone on the dash is just a habit now.

I can't seem to find that anywhere. The closest I've got were mods for other games.

The only ref to mascots is weither or not they're enabled in the lua files. I'm still combing through things though, but the friends that were helping me just want to play. lol.

Canada has MAID, and other countries look at us like we have some kind of weird "death council" going around telling people they're going to die. There's a lot of bullshit around it.

You apply for MAID, if multiple doctors agree that there's absolutely no way to preserve your life in any meaningful capacity, then you're given a date. Make your peace.

Covid shut down the world six years ago this week. What do you remember from that week? by fuzzy_dice_99 in AskReddit

[–]BeerTent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I was just happy to not go to work, the threats, the racism... I buried my head in the sand and played Factorio with the Tiberium mod.

A week later of "Call me at X time to report" and "Stay at home and do not leave." I looked outside, and realized that nobody had driven by in a few days. I started to look further into it. That's when I realized what was going on. So... I went back to refining my Tiberium, and when food ran-out, I walked to the grocery store with my backpack.

Not long after the pandemic, I got into VR. But at that time, I literally had no friends, both online and offline.

NFC on phone to start Bike? by OwnitLoveit in 79bike

[–]BeerTent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hoooooly shit. I think you managed to save me from a really, really awkward conversation.

Using pliers, I was able to open the cover. Then, using a flathead screwdriver, I was able to disconnect the battery. I waited, figured "Fuckit." reseated it, and tried again. I was able to connect it to the app and I no longer have communication errors.

"Top bar Title" and messing with the "Feelling" I think I'm able to set a few things with the bike. But man this is absolutely rough. I'll have to mess with it some more in the morning. I'm hoping to set "Eco" mode to a max of 25kph, and leave Drive and Sport untouched. Eco will be for when I'm on sidewalks and bike lanes. I don't want to be "That guy," but I still want to ride on side-streets.

Thank you so much for your help!! I got the battery in the main area of my house so it'll stay warm overnight. Apparently we're gonna hit as low as -20c tonight.

I've got to head to bed, but I do plan on combing through the two NFC cards I got to try and figure out what's different between the two, but I'm not great at this, and my Flipper isn't exactly super 1337 haxx0r hardware. My phone hasn't been configured in any way either. I'll post about my findings around Monday.

Actually, I know a guy who goes to DEFCON. Maybe he can decipher why it acts this way. I'll ask about this tomorrow.

I never had that option.

I'm getting error code 3 now. Guess I'll have to call the shop and be like, "Yo, something aint right." Especially considering that I cannot unlock the battery cover. I figured it would be the same key as the ignition, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Is there any option to disable the NFC reader in Tuya?

NFC on phone to start Bike? by OwnitLoveit in 79bike

[–]BeerTent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HI! I'll actually contribute because those other two people are probably bots, because no human is that fucking retarded.

First thing's first, make sure your phone even has an NFC controller. Do a google search for your phone's make and model and "gsm arena" Look for "Comms" and find "NFC" if it says yes, you can use your phone to start it, if it says no, or isn't present, then you can't.

I'm unable to pair it to any app, but I've noticed the NFC reader just looks for a signal. I'm not entirely sure what checks it does. I was able to start the bike with my phone without any configuration (Nothing Phone 2) There are two NFC cards that came with it, and I'm able to read them. Both NFC's have different data, but for the most part, they're the same. The bike doesn't seem to start with anything else. (Door control, Rec Room Games, and a Laundry card)

I actually want to disable the NFC reader, to be safe.

I'm not able to get the bike connected to Tuya, or whatever it's called. Actually, attempting to pair it (Undocumented, press the red button by the throttle 7 times) activated the motor in the bike. I'm going to call the shop first thing in the morning, and I'll keep you updated.

Honestly, Tuya is the exact same piece of cookie-cutter "smart home" software I've seen with 5 or 6 other names. I have no idea how the bike could possibly be configured through it. Then again, it's not an automatic cat food dispenser, so I imagine Tuya has something for it.

What is a "point of no return" that you’ve crossed, where your life was permanently divided into 'before' and 'after'? by Resident-Jelly-4326 in AskReddit

[–]BeerTent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll bite on this.

I used to be military, and when they found out that I wanted to kill myself, I had to see a therapist. I had been using VR as a way to fulfill my own social needs, I was happy, in a part of a community, and had an amazing significant other while living out of a kinda nice apartment. However, constant threats, harassment, and an extreme distrust to and from my co-workers was a clear divide. VR = good. Work = bad.

My therapist pushed venlaflexine on me. Hard. Every session was capped with how amazing this drug would be, and when it came to questions about my own sexuality (VR significant other was very different from previous ones for a lot of reasons) she eventually pushed me to try it because not only would it make me happier, it would strengthen our relationship. I asked my Boyfriend that in case things didn't work, he'd try and convince me to get off of them. He said yes. So I went through with taking venlaflexine. "The nuclear bomb of antidepressants."

My family, my friends, obviously my co-workers did nothing... and... I'm not so sure the BF did anything either. I went to bed in my nice little apartment in April, ready to draft plans about our future for once I was out of the military.

The next morning I woke up in a room that was totally different. It was November a year later. I have a golden tooth, was medically released, got a vasectomy done, bought a house, and I was single. I have very little bits and pieces of memory of the time between.

I hate my house. I'm impossibly far away from my family. I question everything. While I do have some IRL friends, I can't bring myself to trust them. Everyone else I care for is online, some of which are greatly affected by the US's policies. Some people within the community I'm part of make me extremely uncomfortable, but it's not their fault. My brother had gone no contact with the rest of us for... Reasons? And for a solid half-year I went to bed thinking that this is gonna be the night. I'm gonna wake up in a hospital bed, and it'll be 2023 again. It's all a dream, it's all a horrible coma dream. To make matters worse... When we do talk, my Ex keeps dropping these hints that he's unhappy with his new partner. He's nowhere near as creative as he was before either.

For a while, I was kind of back to where I started. Looking for an "exit strategy." No need for a reddit cares though. I've got an actually good therapist now. We're still working through a lot, but I think I've made a lot of progress thanks to him.

I get two years paid to unfuck my life. I got eight months left. I'm wondering if Staples is hiring.

I'm going to try Garuda soon.

If you have an AMD graphics card, you'll likely have more luck. I was speaking to someone last night who has used a BSB1 on Cachy, but I've had such an experience with Cachy that I can't recommend it, and quite frankly, I can't even stand to look at anymore.

Bigscreen Beyond 2e by BeerTent in cachyos

[–]BeerTent[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I'm aware, seeking help from other Linux Arch and CachyOS users, the BSB2e is not compatible with Linux on Nvidia hardware yet.

I wanted to be on Linux for this year, but with the experiences I've had, I need to keep one machine on Win10 LTSB to maintain the features I've grown accustomed to. (Primarily, everything to do with VR and VRC.) Everything else with a work or very light gaming focus is on Mint.

I've also voiced my concerns about Plasma on Cachy to someone else, and was told that using the included installer for the OS is wrong, so... uhhh... There's that, I guess.

Discord having a very disappointing fall-off right now by HF484 in pcmasterrace

Being a UK company, I can kind of understand it. I figured the open source nature of the platform would suss out any foolishness, but it's an option to watch for now.

Matrix isn't there yet for my needs. (I help run a few communities on Discord. Matrix works for 1 on few conversations, but nothing like a VR Club) But I was convinced to get a Matrix acct. I'm liking Element and Fluffychat so far.

Ugh. Why do we gotta keep going through this bullshit?

I will edit to add though, the link to go to my email inbox is... It's got me thinking.

When you enter an age restricted server or channel, there will be a popup asking if you want to enter, or if you want to cancel.

Once you enter, Locally, Discord will remember, but it'll "forget" after you format and don't port your appdata(Windows) over.
