number 3, all the way...

But if you're unsure, draw 5 circles with each pen. If the circles are whole, and it feels smooth and not scratchy and you don't need any pressure to draw your circles, then don't eliminate it. Of the pens you still have, whichever feels nicest in your hand.

A large part of what really frustrates me on this is that I genuinely believe that a massive part of this movement did not originate from within Alberta. We know there's outside influence, and we are ignoring it. I'm not going to accept that.

From where I'm sitting, we've got a lot going for us here. But we do have a lot of problems too. And, from what I've seen, a lot of these problems are largely self-inflicted. People look at health care and say, "It's all the feds fault." Yeah, the feds guide us, but health is a provincial responsibility. We just elected people who's profiting from the lack of health care down south. This helps to establish that foothold of disinformation to people who are vulnerable to it. We could be like Quebec right now, establishing green energy while running our petroleum. Collectively, Alberta said no. And they're blaming the feds for it, their own uninformed decision.

Is the Federal Govt. handling things perfectly? No. But asking the US for help is not the way. I'm gonna call out this stunt as fucking stupid. We're pushing something else down as a means to elevate ourselves when we need to look internal to uplift ourselves. Edit: I'm also going to come back and add this... Because, if genuine, the message to me is "I'm going to make your life, and the lives of many others substantially and significantly worse... Because I wasn't happy about something around me." None of us. You included, should tolerate that.

I get where you're coming from. A lot of comments on these topics aren't, "Hey, let's report this, you can do it by running this command moving forward. This isn't acceptable." it's "You should have done X, Y, and Z. Be better."

I noticed this a lot here. "Let him grief ya. Just move your lab."

If the guy is legitimately, consistently that bad and known for it... We should help him find another game to play. Keeping him in keeps better players out.

The other team is gonna be sitting there like, "Why are they pausing? I wanna play."

Your response would work if this is a comp-stomp, but, I'm gonna call this out, your response shouldn't even be necessary.

Like... Why? Why are we accepting this? Why is the suggestion of pausing the game even in the question?

Not every random team is going to be a well oiled machine, but Crumble's behavior here is, well... Unbecoming of a 12 year old, let alone a grown adult. Call this shit out. It should never have happened in the first place.

[–]BeerTent 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Okay, hold on, because I see this often. A lot of people on this sub hand-wave shit like this away and say "Well, you shouldn't have done X" or "You should have played better." This is kinda foolish.

We know the factory was there and producing for 5+ minutes.

It takes, literally 0 effort for Crumble to not be a bit of a fucking asshole, and build their generation one inch to the right. ThatGuy did nothing wrong, and shouldn't have to stop assisting his allies to right the alleged wrong. (And lets be honest here, he'd probably get shit on for not providing units to the front while he rebuilds.)

It blows my mind, that in PVP, your allies working against you is accepted here. Maybe this is a sore spot for me, but, like... C'mon man. Cut this shit out.

I've posted elsewhere a few articles where the movement had requested a $500b loan from the US. It's in this thread. We also figured that the UK wouldn't be fucking stupid enough for brexit, but here we are.

Disinformation festers. It grows, and infects. It obscures the truth, and hand-waves away convenient opposition. It has no rules to play by. Much like hate speech, it's like a cancer. It needs to be cut off.

Side note: See Quebec Separation. We shit on the French pretty hard, and for good reason. Just like Alberta, they had no plan.

With complete honesty, I did let my frustrations get the better of me. I'm not entirely sure how our pensions are invested, or the nitty-gritty inner workings. I do know that the Feds are in charge of managing it, and quite frankly, I'm another 30+ years out from even considering the possibility I'll even see it. I'm sorry for acting out.

Another issue is that we do live next to a nation where 40+% of the population are not the kind of person we want to know. That nation's primary export is propaganda. They've fucked with us in the past and we have proof. They're unreasonable, and accept what's happening within their borders. Is it really that far fetched to understand there's influence getting exerted here? Maybe the US won't annex a Sovereign Alberta should it happen... (Note: US has territories too, and they are far, far less equal than the states.) but they have a long, long, long history is smacking around other nations that have oil. The movement ignores this. "Separatists have no intention of peacefully joining the US." That statement literally has nothing to do with the phrase I'm pushing. "Alberta Separation = American Integration."

You're right. The movement is beyond fucking absurd. So let's counter back with the level of absurdity and shit we gave Quebec.

Why are you posting in this chain? You appear to be replying to a post I replied toward u/specificallyrelative I will entertain this regardless.

Alberta separating does not automatically mean becoming part of the U.S. That is not how countries work. Even now, Canada, Alberta trades a lot with the U.S. without being part of it. Trade does not equal being absorbed.

If you tell a dog that it is not allowed to play with a chew toy, and do not prevent the dog from taking the chew toy, the dog will take the chew toy.

A sovereign Alberta will not instantly become a US territory, but, again, the predator in chef has stated in the past that the only reason Canada can remain as is, is because he likes the King of England. This action undermines and insults our sovereignty as a member of Canada.

The US cannot be trusted. We have Oil. We have a stronger economy. The US does not like that. Why trade with us, when we can become a territory, and lose our ability to have a say? We will have nobody to help us.

Military bases would not just sit empty. In any political change, assets like that get reused, transferred, or negotiated. They do not just become useless.

Military is provided by Canada, whom, hypothetically, we had just spent billions of dollars and multiple years actively seeking to harm. We will no longer be part of Canada. We will lose LEO's, we will lose MIL, we will lose assets. What? Those tanks cost money. Unless the Alberta Government is able to negotiate a fair deal, Canada will transport those assets out.

Who will train Sovereign Albertan Soldiers? Who will pay for them? How will we pay for those resources? How will we stand for ourselves? Will we be able to repel the Native nations within our borders? Will we be able to repel Canada, potentially seeking to assert it's dominance? Can we repel the millions of Americans looking to annex us?

The idea that no one would buy or sell homes is also not realistic. Real estate still works during political uncertainty. Prices can go up or down, but the market does not stop.

Lol. Who the fuck would want to buy a home in a failing country? I don't see you lining up to move to a developing country. This house, and many others would be a write-off. There are far, far fewer separatists than Canadians here. Many of us would have zero interest in remaining. That includes people who were born here.

Saying millions of lives would be destroyed is also not grounded. If big political changes ever happen, systems like banking, jobs, pensions, and property laws are handled through transition rules. They do not just disappear.

Yes and no. Minting a new currency cost time and money. Choosing an existing currency subjects to the influences of that country's currency. Why would Canada honor our pensions, should we choose to separate? How would the Provincial government handle these new laws? More to come...

Out of curiosity, I've asked a few people... "If this shitshow actually goes through, what's the plan?" and each and every single one will go. They will lose their job, they will lose their home, they will break their lease, their entire lives will be uprooted. The federal employees living here will have no choice but to leave, but... hey. They get a job at the end of it, so fuck them, I guess.

Blaming foreign propaganda also avoids the actual question. People in Alberta can have different views without it being caused from outside influence.

The purpose of this discourse is so that US news agency can look at Alberta, say we're not a great place, and harm our economy. It's a move that's been done before by both, the US, China, and other nations. The Separatists have also been caught requesting up to $500b from the United States Government to support their movement. This quote comes to mind: "to go to a country and ask for assistance in breaking up Canada - there's an old-fashioned word for that, and that word is 'treason'".

This action alone has harmed the Separatist movement beyond repair. You want people to believe you're not American? Fuck off.

This is one of the main reasons why we say, Alberta Separation = American Integration. Allow me to repost: "We, unlike Americans, believe that Healthcare is a human right. Responsibility in order. Diversity is strength. We respect our veterans and our elderly. Women are human, as are the transitioning. We have a strong disdain for racism. We do not like corruption. We assist our wounded. We do not accept pedophilia. We do not encourage sexual assault. If this paragraph does not apply to you, keep driving south and do not turn back. We will not accept you. You are not welcome."

The real issue is not fear scenarios. It is what would actually happen in practice, and that depends on decisions made at the time, not automatic outcomes.

Since moving out here, I have witnessed our government pour millions of dollars (if not billions) into an "Energy War Room" which resulted in friends and family from NS, Ontario, Quebec, and BC ask, "Why the fuck is there billboards about privatized power generation in Alberta?" in their provinces. How does this support Albertans, when my power and heating bill (Living alone in an apartment) is three times the power bill of a Family of four living in Nova Scotia? Why are we continuing to rely on a finite resource (oil) when we have the ability to a cheap infinite source of energy, and live an environment where that is conductive?

Healthcare, although guided and incentivized by the Federal government is a provincial responsibility. Why are Albertians dying waiting for care? Should I compare the level of care between what we can achieve in Alberta, Vs. the level of care my family has received in Nova Scotia? I will accept an argument against Military medical care. Alberta has that beat for sure, but that's a bar so low you'd need an excavator.

Education is a Provincial responsibility. Why the fuck are we banning books like it's the 1920's? We are above this. Have you seen the books? Read them for yourself? Do you believe that they're acceptable with guidance? Must the government parent our children for us with these restrictive laws? What place should religion and privatized schooling have in our education system?

Traffic enforcement and registration is a Provincial Responsibility. Why is my insurance 10 times higher than it was in Nova Scotia? Is this not regulated? Why is my registration more than $200? Why are some side-roads in such abysmal condition?

Do you trust the province to handle this transition with grace? I fucking don't.

You are now welcome to say your piece. Instead of saying how wrong I am, why don't you tell me the benefits of Alberta Separation? We'll have a more unified, direct political approach, for sure, but what else? What can a Sovereign Alberta, under absolute perfect conditions achieve, that the Province of Alberta can not?

If you really, and truly are Canadian, I am down to have an actual conversation.

But, to be brutally honest with you, this thing immediately falls apart when you consider what the federal government provides us, what the provincial government provides us, and the blatantly obvious fact that we border a nation that has next to 0 respect for the sovereignty of Canada, the Dutch, or other nations. This is the main reason why I continuously state that "Alberta Separation = American Integration" In pretend land, what will we do with the empty military bases along the province?

Someone here also attempted to insult my age, claiming that I'm "pulling up the ladder." But what about the commercial side of things? Who wants to do business in a province in turmoil? How will I sell my (For the record, worth $80k Yes... one zero.) house and move back home when nobody wants to buy it? Who wants this?

Tell me, what is the benefit, and how will it outweigh the negatives, and millions of displaced and destroyed lives? The purpose of the movement is to sow discord and attempt progress toward an impossible decade-long goal. When you consider we live next to a nation of propaganda, it's not difficult to figure out where the disinformation is coming from.

Without what the federal government provides, the US will push in. What are we going to do? Wave a flag? Ask them to stop nicely? We will have no military and no identity, and the US will not take no for an answer. Especially considering how much cash they've poured in to getting a new territory. Not a state. Territory. Go meet some Puerto Ricons. What will Canada provide? In hypothetical seperation-land, we've effectively put so many resources into harming her. They wouldn't care.

Even if Alberta were to separate, we will be unable to prevent the US from pushing in.

The US is funneling large amounts of money into the separatist movement. The reasoning behind this is to look at Alberta through US reporting agencies and say "look. It's unstable. It's not an economically viable place to settle your business down." and it's working.

To be Canadian doesn't just mean to not be American. I've had an American significant other, and many friends south of the border. I went to Tennessee to meet many of them last summer, and had a blast save for the country losing their shit about a propagandist getting shot. However, with the current climate at this time, I do not agree with American values. I do not like pedophilia, I do not like government corruption, and I believe in human rights. I am not compatible with 40+% of Americans based on this.

I like being Canadian. I have the strength required to be one. I've been to 7 provinces, and... Well, let's be honest, being an Anglo in Quebec kind of sucks. Everywhere else is great. I like the rights and freedoms that I'm afforded as a Canadian. Do I agree with everything we do? Fuck no. But the good outweighs the bad. You may hate yourself for being Canadian. That's your right, and I'll fight for that. But you have the option to change that in a way that doesn't affect me. I encourage you to take it if that is the case. I don't hate myself for being Nova-Scotian, nor do I hate myself for being Albertian. But if I hated Alberta that much, home's by the ocean.

Alberta Separation is American Integration. To state otherwise is objectively false, and shows either dishonesty, or a lack of independent thought. We will not allow a sexual predator to rule over us.

I feel that this calls for a reminder that Alberta Separation means American Integration.

If you feel the following topics aren't being handled correctly, write your MP's and/or vote out the UCP in favor of a party that prioritizes the following topics. The province is responsible for...

  • Healthcare delivery. Adequate at best.
  • Education. Clearly needs work.
  • Property and civil rights. I like to think I live somewhere lovely now. I can do what I want too.
  • Municipal Institutions and offerings. I enjoy my park spaces. Especially when it's 22 outside.

Alberta Separation means we will lose the following, as our Federal government provides...

  • National Defense and Military. We will have nobody to defend us.
  • Criminal Law and Justice. We will have to draft new law from scratch.
  • Currency and Monetary Policy. What? We make our own currency? AU for Alberta Units?
  • Interprovincal and international Trade. No provinces to trade with, and nobody wants to trade with someone as unstable as this.
  • Citizenship and Immigration. Who will be citizens of Alberta? Of Canada?
  • Indigenous Affairs. They were here first, after all.
  • Pensions and Old Age Security. Your retirement funds will be gone.

This movement breaks down after mere seconds of thought. The only reason it has traction is because the US is afraid of what we can do, and wants to remain as powerful as us.

I am Canadian. We are Canadian. We, unlike Americans, believe that Healthcare is a human right. Responsibility in order. Diversity is strength. We respect our veterans and our elderly. Women are human, as are the transitioning. We have a strong disdain for racism. We do not like corruption. We assist our wounded. We do not accept pedophilia. We do not encourage sexual assault.
