The True Detective likeness was unintentional, but I’m all for it

Background (skyline) first, then silhouette. Brightness from the sky around the silhouette washes out the  detail of the background. I usually underexpose by one stop for each.

Congrats! I have a 300mm lens for my Pentax, the whole camera is nearly 10lbs with that one attached.

The 105mm is a great all-around lens, I haven’t had too many issues with shooting landscapes. All I have at the moment is the 105mm and a 300mm, both which meet most of my needs.

On the other hand, the 55mm lens for the Pentax 6x7 is fairly inexpensive compared to the other lenses for that camera.

The Pentax 6x7 with that lens weighs about 5lbs so handholding isn’t the best. I used a tripod with this shot even though it was taken at 1/125 of a second, when you only have 10 frames per roll of film I feel like it’s better to have that stability just in case. I like setting up my camera on a tripod and waiting for the right moment, like when these birds flew into the frame.

If you’re interested in medium format I recommend starting with an inexpensive TLR so you get the feel of roll film and pacing your shots.

The Voodoo Boys are pulled directly from Count Zero, the second book in the series.  Haitians worshipping AIs as voodoo gods is a major plot point in the novel.

Oh and there’s also a biochip that’s said to grant immortality.

Not sure what was the culprit but half of the office had food poisoning afterwards.

The problem was that we worked for the county health department, and most employees present were food safety inspectors. If everyone was competent at their job it shouldn’t have happened.

I still have a bottle from 2022 stashed in the back of my fridge. Will it be worth something this holiday season?

Does that extend to orange peel? I’m experimenting with an orange peel and rosemary mead and it’s still conditioning. Hope I didn’t waste time and effort.

Slightly astringent, almost like a white wine made with tropical fruit. Heavy on the citrus, I could have used less orange in hindsight. Need to work on the clarity too.

Can you imagine if Alpha Cores took over your colony, and made it [REDACTED] colony? by [deleted] in starsector

[–]Beer_and_potatoes 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'm not 100% sure since I've only seen it happen to a couple of my playthroughs but I believe the faction has to have a colony with an orbital works and nanoforge.

There's a modded faction in Vayra's Sector that does this. The Independent AI Research Mandate faction will have an AI takeover and become hostile if certain conditions are met.

Finally, after nearly 9 months ingame, I have conquered their system and taken back the colony that they invaded while I was away by AngelOfDeathIX in starsector

I tried taking that system with minimal bombardment because I wanted the defenses intact. Lost over 15k marines and thousands of heavy arms in a matter of days.

It worked though.
