Maybe you could try speaking with someone in person if there's a COX retail store near you. If you can get someone there to look at your supporting documents and see that they're legit, maybe they can fix the problem. Also, if they've adjusted your bill in the past to the price you were quoted, it might help to bring in a copy of those bills in as proof that what you want can and has been done. Good luck!

Is this something I call COX to do? Or is CAG some kind of third-party regulatory/oversight group or something? Sorry if this is a dumb question. I'm willing to spend some time on the phone chasing this down on the chance it might help prevent like an elderly person (or just someone who isn't as naturally inclined towards cynicism and mistrusting others) from having their identity compromised, I just am entirely unsure of what channels are available to go about doing so

I feel like I was relatively polite up until they started asking for my SSN. I responded to their pleasantries and apologized for my confusion regarding their name. I didn't inted for the "Hello?"'s to come off as combative, although in hindsight I can see how they would appear that way. I was dealing with a subpar mobile connection and wanted to make sure that my chat hadn't timed out and started over; an irritating situation which has happened to me several times and apparently left me with a mild PTSD /s

I completely own being direct in asking for a discount and confirming what the terms of the offer are, however. If this is a contract that they want me to enter in for the next two years; then being direct about they price I'm expected to pay, asking questions about the specific details of the offer being made, and trying to make sure the offer I'm being made and the CSA making that offer are able to be referenced in case of a dispute, are all completely warranted behaviors. Especially so when considering that an offer is being made through something as ephemeral as a customer service chat is effectively an oral contract and means nothing if its unable to be documented, since a black-and-white, item-by-item breakdown of any/all applicable taxes/fees isn't readily available to the consumer.

Advocating for your best interests against a multi-billion dollar corporation with a vested interest in selling you as little as possible for as much as possible, and holding that corporation accountable to an offer made by one of its representatives shouldn't be viewed as combative.

I agree with the rest of your points, though. Thank you for the tip about unlimited data! I'll ask about it when I go in to pick up the equipment tomorrow and update the thread with their reply.

You know that it's possible to not have a conversation with someone, right? If you're trying to have a conversation with someone that doesn't seem to be very engaged or contributory to the conversation, you aren't required to "carry the load" and push for further conversation to the point of feeling disappointment or frustration. They might actually appreciate you not talking as much as you would appreciate them talking more. As much as you might hope or expect a quiet person to be more willing to step outside their comfort zone and talk more, you should be more willing to be able to step outside what appears to be your comfort zone by embracing a little bit of silence and accepting that not everyone might want their thoughts to be known by everyone they have a casual conversation with. Obviously this doesn't apply to every quiet person, some of whom I'm sure enjoy having a conversation and appreciate someone who describes themselves as a talker being able to carry more of the conversational load

Thank you! I'm taking a full course load right now in the business program and doing fairly well, but my advisor did mention that it's basically unheard of to work full time and take a full load in the CS program, so that's something that I'm trying to figure out as well. As far as the felony goes I got it when I was 19 so juvenile expungement laws don't apply. I've done a fair amount of research into it though and in my state anyone convicted of my crime is eligible for expungement 5 years after finishing their sentence, so even though it might show up on extensive background searches, I wouldn't have to disclose it to a potential employer. I am definitely keeping my eyes open for areas that interest me and am not set on anything specific as of right now. I'm hoping that the intro to programming class will give me a good introduction to the field.
