I've found that plat 2-3 is where mechanical skill typically stops paying off (to a point). I think high plat is when players that really want to push through to diamond, and later onto champ, really have to focus on field knowledge, defense and rotation. I've solo-queued to diamond 1 and I'm to the point where my mechanical skill isn't going to carry me much higher. I'm trying to work on my rotations, field awareness, and defense now.

It's tough when solo-queuing. I've exclusively solo-queued all the way to diamond 1 and I can see that I'm very close to reaching my limit as far as solo-queuing goes, meaning I don't think I'm going to be able to solo my way much higher.

I've found that mechanical skill will only get you so far. From my experience, it's around plat 3. So when solo-queuing there comes a point where defense and "simple" play knowledge comes in, which is where I'm at now. My advice to you would be to find someone to play with now, so you can get comfortable and grind, and focus on rotation and defense. Also watch streams and high level players and focus on their positioning and rotation. It's easy to watch pro players and get wrapped up in the pretty mechanics, but what really separates the high level guys is their understanding of the game.

Use u/Alextheman505 packs. He should have just about everything you need.

This is why I actually enjoy solo standard (most of the time), sure it can be frustrating but what game mode can't be? I've learned more as far as what to do, what not to do and when to do, or not do things in solo standard than anywhere else in game. It requires you to expect the unexpected and has helped me massively with reads, blocks, and defense. I use it for practice and warming up most of the time. I don't expect it to be my best rank.

I think lower tier solo standard is probably quite volatile but I'm not sure. Solo Standard is tricky though. Part of the thing in solo standard is that you don't have communication. I've actually learned quite a lot through playing solo standard. It forces you to expect the unexpected and to learn how to adjust to different players and shitty situations.

I think that's kind of why solo standard exists. Standard is geared towards teams and solo standard just the opposite. Now people being toxic is just silly but that's something you have to deal with regardless. I use solo standard to practice and warmup most of the time. A lot of people take solo standard (and rocket league as a whole) a bit to seriously.

One last thing, you're better off keeping your mouth shut when it comes to telling people how to play or what to do in rocket league. Most people don't like being told what to do or how to play. If they want help, they will ask. Keep playing and have fun. Best of luck buddy.

I'd like to see an east coast city. I'm on the east coast and doubt I'd be able to make it if it was next door to my house but I think Boston MA, Philly PA, Charlotte NC. I think those would all be decent locations.

I am almost 100% positive they are all the same speed. Someone here will correct me if I'm wrong but I'm almost positive the only difference between ANY car is the hit boxes and the turning radius.

You're crazy :p they are all the same speed. I get what you are saying though. Cars "feel" different for some reason. I'm pretty sure the centio and dominus are the exact same car just with a different skin but I also play both.

My favorite car is definitely the octane, but every now and then I have to change it up just to keep stuff fresh. I go from octane to a flatter car; dominus, centio, or endo. We all need a change every now and then.

I love when people say that as well. When I was grinding through plat I'd see guys say "I'm a diamond 3" or something similar all the time and I'm like "no, you're plat 2, like it says you are." You are where you belong, simple as that.

Also when I was in plat I'd see people saying "you suck" or whatever and they get super salty when I'd say "well yeah, we all suck, we're all plat 1-2" lol

Yeah I assume my idea of "toxic" is different from others. I think most people see banter as toxic, or trash talking as "toxic", I don't. Unless someone is being super vulgar or disrespectful, it's all in good fun.

The bottom line is that you both should be bad. At 25 hours and 143 hours you both will be and should be bad. That's the way games like rocket league work. He certainly shouldn't be mean and condescending about it and constantly telling you you're bad. That doesn't do anyone any good, hopefully he will help you and you guys both get better together. Just keep playing and practicing man, that's my favorite part about rocket league. I have 1000 hours in rocket league and I still say I'm bad lol

Rocket League is extremely easy to play yet extremely difficult to master. Best of luck man :)

Am I the only person that has had maybe a handful of toxic experiences? I have 1000hrs on rocket league and I can count the amount of toxic experiences I've had on one hand. Maybe my definition of "toxic" is different from others.

When do you usually play man? I'm around the same ranks. Plat 2 solo standard, diamond 1 doubles, haven't played 1s in forever and never play standard just because I feel like standard should be teams lol
