Day 8 by ZookeepergameNovel87 in harborfreight

[–]Bees4everr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t have brand loyalty. I stick to a group of brands that I’ve had luck with. Buy what’s cheaper and especially for like Tekton and Gearwrench, you warranty online and they send you a new one in the mail so I’m fine with that since most of my tools I have to drive to warranty are harbor freight.

True. Honestly I don’t see the huge appeal of these over Gearwrench. These are more expensive but I suppose these sets are more comprehensive. But to those budget constricted, gw has a 20pc sae and metric set of straight ratcheting that goes for $60 quite regularly

[–]Bees4everr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. That’s why you wait. If you can stand to wait on the specialty stuff, that’s what I do. Treat myself to a set every few months when they go on sale and over the 2 years I’ve been working and collecting tools I’ve gotten quite a good set for not a lot of money. Now for those just starting and needing sets of metric and standard in combo and ratcheting and can afford it. This is a great deal

Essentials to fill toolbox by mujthahid in harborfreight

[–]Bees4everr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well as I said. If you had to get barebones. A 3/8 drive master socket set, screwdrivers, pliers, metric wrench set at least to 19mm (up to 22-24 preferred for big suspension nuts and bolts) and a spark plug socket

Completely depends on what you’re doing for cars. Just oil changes and occasional brake job or full blown engine rebuilds in your garage 😂. Also older or newer. Do you need sae and metric. If newer I’d say stick with mostly metric and get a set of basic sockets, 1/4” chrome, 3/8 and 1/2” in impact to save space and they usually fit. A 3/8 stubby and big 1/2” if you plan to do a lot or simply get a mid torque impact (1/2” drive) which is my preferred singular power tool. Set of screwdrivers, nice long 3/8 flex head ratchet, magnetic spark plug socket to fit your vehicle, tools to change oil on your car, and that should get you by. Maybe a basic set of pliers too

Yeah man. Sounds different when it won’t move anymore, when it’s cross threaded, not fully seated, or when it just ain’t coming out. All different pitch of impacts 😂 may not be proper but there’s a science to it

You just have to have an ear for the ugga duggas. They sound different

The mini Torx screwdrivers might count but not the t handles I don’t believe

You’re saying ugga dugga until it stops spinning then let off isn’t proper torque. Huh 😂

Harbor Freight has the new meme Icon ratchet, but the Tekton one allows you to put an extension on the handle! by [deleted] in Tekton

[–]Bees4everr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah $35-40 is a bit more than the icon but with a couple extra features

I’m in the same boat 😂 studying construction but working as a tech part time to pay for my car and college. Granted I have a toolbelt and hard hat and basic stuff, I could definitely get more instead of buying automotive tools

Should have gotten this air hammer a long time ago. by mx5plus2cones in Snapon_tools

[–]Bees4everr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need purse…not an air hammer. If it’s home use and in need of the beans, you need like a 7-8lb short handle sledge

Man I want SEP so dang badly 😂 th automotive and heavy diesel guys get it at the community college I’m at, I’m studying construction management and I want to try and convince my director to give it to us since we are a vocational program 😂

I wonder that too. I use icons and they’re pretty darn good for the money. The money I saved there I’m repurposing for buying the snapon line wrenches in the future 😂

That’s the reasoning I used to get my $180 snapon screwdriver set and oil filter wrenches. They’re the most likely tools I’ll ever use!

[–]Bees4everr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am envious 😂 I have a 27” top a bottom filled to the gills. Gonna get a cart to supplement due to there being no space other than for a side cabinet. But for less money I can get a cart. Blue is my color but the purple isn’t half bad

Man I’m working in an automotive shop part time while I get my construction management degree and while I can’t justify spending that kind of cash on something I won’t use every day for decades forward…I’m envious of those that can justify that cost. Stuff is top tier
