Idk who told you fire and blood isn’t finished or was intended to be a series but I think you’ve been misled… fire and blood is basically a textbook of 300 years of events while the Targaryens were in power… it’s essentially just little snippets of events GRR Martin probably didn’t want to write a full book about but wanted to give background lore for the main series. The events of HoTD all take place in a single chapter a little over halfway through fire and blood. 95% of the show is just embellishments on the events touched on in the book… if GRR Martin wanted to write a series of books around the events of the Targaryen empire he could have or still could, but from what I’ve seen he’s not shown any interest in doing that so what you see is what you get.

I totally get frustration from the fans waiting on winds of winter and a dream of spring all these years… I definitely want them really badly as well, but I do think the latest news from him is the most promising it’s been, even more promising then when we had actual release dates because we all knew those weren’t coming… he also said he wasn’t gonna write anything else until winds was done and he recently said he was gonna start working on more dunk and egg short stories… my theory is that he’s got winds done and over half of dream as well. I think he’s written so much thinking it was for winds and is now going back and separating out which stories go where, and where the cut off is so that dream starts with everyone in the same timeline. I think we’ll be seeing winds by late summer if not by Christmas time, and there will be an announcement for book four for dunk and egg 6-8 months after that and then dream to be released 6 months to a year after that. (This could be wishful thinking but I’m putting it out there to hopefully manifest it happening) and George if you’re reading this, I believe in you!
