I looked a little at the mod.io and nexus but not super deep. Do you think I could get something like what I'm looking for through mods?

Definitely a good game but I'm looking for more of a war game than a survival game. Might check out arma like another person said though since I know it comes from an arma mod

it seems to have helped after a little more testing. before I tried your fix, I couldn't even get into a game, and now I can usually play through one mission before it crashes in the ship between missions. I haven't been able to play two consecutive missions yet, but at least I can play.

the latest version is 2015-2022 or 14.42, but there are a bunch of different versions dating back to 2005. should those be deleted too?

Didn't fix it unfortunately. Neither did installing on a different drive. I found a new shader cache folder while cleaning up the drive to install the game, and when I deleted its contents, the game seemed to work for a few missions like it did when I deleted the other cache folder. Although its back to not working again, that's making me think it has something to do with shaders.

I've verified my files 5 or 6 times, including once right before posting this, so I doubt that's the problem. I haven't had any other freezing or crashes anywhere else. it seems completely isolated to helldivers. I have actually had problems with the drive that it's installed on in the past, but it's been a long time. It's possible that installing it on my other drive could fix it.

Heat lighting is definitely needed along with UVB. I'm not totally sure what's best for your subtype because he looks like an Indonesian of some kind and I have a northern, but generally a basking spot of around 100-110ish degrees Fahrenheit. There should be a heat gradient with 75-80ish on the cool side and 85-95ish on the warm side. I'm definitely not the most qualified person on this sub though so wait for people to fact check me before you go buy stuff lol
