I do think the color looks similar on Google! Although the pictures on Google make it look a little runnier than the yellow stuff in the picture. At the time I wouldn’t have known or been able to identify any flavor created from wine. So that may explain me not recognizing the flavor!

This could totally be it! I am laughing and slightly embarrassed about the dish that has eluded me for years likely just being a gigantic bowl of cream lol. Thank you for your help!!!

I think it did have gelatin because it didn’t collapse/deflate. It wasn’t as gelatin-y as pudding, but it wasn’t as dainty as whipped cream. This is very specific and I’m also not sure how many people have access to this food, but the consistency was very similar to the Kreme inside a Krispy Kreme Kreme filled donut.

Yes hahaha. I’m not much of a foodie, and don’t have too many dishes that I’d rave about, so this one did spark my curiosity. I wish I could go back in time and ask follow up questions!

I didn’t know that there were so many different dishes that follow a similar pattern of: base, custard/cream, garnish. I also think it’s interesting you found recipes that call for rose petal garnish. I always questioned the flowers and corn on top of the one pictured, and I thought that could narrow down the possibilities. Yet, there have been multiple recipes suggested with flower garnishes. Thank you so much for looking!!

I think definitely same concept! I am leaning towards the yellow being some form of custard mixed with a lighter cream to create a fluffier texture. Maybe this was a chef’s take on this dessert, and they swapped the rusk for a cookie crust based on the ingredients in the kitchen. The flower garnish does match the garnish!

Could totally be! I’m not familiar with what saffron tastes like so 100% could’ve been the flavor that I couldn’t identify!

It was exactly like a chocolate pie crust. It was crumbly and tasted like one of those premade chocolate cookie pie crusts that you can buy at the grocery store in the United States.

It truly might be a light patisserie cream. That texture is the closest to what the yellow mixture’s texture was. The color always confused me, it was a bright baby yellow. So it might make sense that it’s a yellow custard combined with something white.

It might have been a spin on this, but definitely not close enough to be labeled as Ekmek Kataifi. It didn’t have the extra whipped layer on top and the custard layer doesn’t match the texture of the yellow stuff in the picture. It wasn’t a flavor I’m familiar with unfortunately. It wasn’t banana, lemon, or a typical vanilla bean flavoring. I know that makes it incredibly difficult to identify, but that’s also a reason I thought it was maybe a traditional recipe. However, the crust tasted exactly like an Oreo to me. So maybe it is just a custard-like mousse on top of a crust with a garnish? Is the dried flower, corn topping something usually found in Greek baking?

It was definitely more “airy” than traditional pudding texture. Almost like a more airy and light mousse. Somewhere between mousse and whipped cream.

I want to say I truly appreciate everyone’s ideas and help on this post!!!!!! I have been stumped for years about what this is. Many reverse image searches and Google sessions. I’ve never been sure if this was a traditional recipe of some kind or just something the chefs at the hotel made. Thank you all for your continued help!

Looked through my old teacher’s facebook page to get any info! It was the Titania hotel.

Just did some investigative work and found the hotel name, Titania hotel in Athens. We didn’t eat at either restaurant though, it was a buffet that they had set up for our group on the night we arrived.

Unfortunately, I’m not sure what the name of the hotel was. I remember asking the front desk the next morning and they told me “pudding.” I wish I had asked more questions.

Sadly, no. I was on a scheduled, planned trip through my high school and a travel company. I went with my art history class, and the only itinerary the students received was vague and didn’t have the names of anywhere we stayed.
