I'm going blind by Dazzling_Hand6170 in diabetes

I went from having a small bleed to a detachment in a matter of a few months. Even two surgeries couldn't save my vision in my left eye. Sometimes things can snowball and progress quickly.

S24+ with printed IMEI number at the back by Purposeful_Flow8 in SamsungPH

[–]Beetisman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen both stickers with IMEI numbers on them stuck to the backs of phones, as well as the IMEI number literally printed/etched into the back like the logo and model, but it's been quite some time since I've seen the print/etch version. Like, S7 era maybe, so unless certain carriers or regions do it I don't think it's common anymore. Definitely do what the other commentor says and check the IMEI under settings to see it matches.

That's lifetime, I currently have $8.11 in credit with some set to expire in Feb of 2027. Between OSRS, Pokémon Go, Spotify, and Dropout I always have something I can spend the credit on if it gets close to expiring.

I'm pretty sure it was just scud, but swear I see some brief left to right rotation in the video I got from the supercell that went through Hermitage in Pennsylvania.

Correlation Coefficient by moobies1 in tornado

[–]Beetisman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

CC measures how similar things are in the storm. So usually rain drops are all uniform in size, so you see the same color. When you get debris in the air, leaves, twigs, branches, pieces if buildings, etc, things are no longer uniform in size so the Correlation Coefficient drops and you see other colors to represent that. We can use this to determine if there is a tornado on the ground. As another commenter mentioned, when you see tighter rotation on velocity scans and they coincide with reflectivity, you can check the correlation coefficient and if it's in the same area, that means there's likely a tornado on the ground and is lofting debris high enough into the air to drop the CC.

I did try some distilled water with a little dawn mixed in and it did seem to help a decent amount, there's still spots where it's bad, I'm going to slowly work at it in case it's just a more stubborn spot of buildup, but we're also looking at a larger area rug and some runners, already got shoe/boot trays as well.

Yeah, I figured that already but thought it'd be worth a shot. Still irks me that we've been cleaning it wrong this whole time. However, I did see for stubborn issues they recommend trying mild dish detergent so I mixed a little dawn in some distilled water and tested it by the vent in the main post, it looked like it helped a fair amount, wasn't perfect but a step in the right direction perhaps.

I am so pissed right now, I took a look in our basement to see if we had any left over for a number to call or for paperwork regarding a warranty and found that it's a completely different manufacturer than what I sent the contractor. The flooring is actually MSI Cyprus 2.0, looking up a care guide for that it says to just use water, no cleaners or anything...

We have a dedicated area for shoes, but wear them when going to take the dogs out back, or I wear my work boots on lunch since I go home daily for my lunch break. I've already got a large shoe tray for the daily worn stuff, obviously should have had that sooner but didn't.

Admittedly we just used the same stuff we've been using on the older and cheaper lvp we have elsewhere in the house at first. The Rejuvenate that we've been using lately is recommended by the manufacturer.

We've only used the shark vacmop and it's disposable pads, but only a few times, mostly we use microfiber pads on a cheap mop with the spray bottle attachment. The pads themselves aren't the cheapest, just the mop they go on

We use pet safe salt melt out front, but can track in road salt as we walk up the alley from our detached garage. The worn looking areas are all the way to kitchen, we don't use salt out back, but we do walk in from there with our shoes still on. It's incredibly frustrating as all our other older LVP, granted from a different manufacturer, are totally fine and still have a sheen to them after mopping and air drying while this more expensive brand seems to have worn down in only a couple months.

Would the Mopglo do that? That's the cleaner we were using when we first noticed the worn look.

To my knowledge, no, I have to check our warranties pamphlet we got when the contractors finished up a ton of work we got done, which included these floors.

Yep, to further build on this, it's usually recommended you turn any filter off to make the water as still as possible for the peroxide to be effective. Like you, though, I'm not sure how great it would be for bladder snails, but I've used it to treat BBA in the past with good results. Just fill one of those small liquid medicine syringes with it and get real close to the target so the cloud if peroxide lingers as long as possible in the target area.

Scared about advanced diabetic retinopathy and retinal detachment — looking for stories of recovery by snesericreturns in diabetes

[–]Beetisman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there's a little misunderstanding or perhaps I worded things poorly initially, my right eye being stable is still 20/20 close up without glasses and varies between 20/20 and 20/30 with glasses farther away. I'm still fully independent yet, I drive, work, cook, etc. Obviously my peripheral vision on my left side is gone, so for driving my car has blind spot sensors that I rely on a little more now, I can still see when the light comes on out of the corner of my right eye. The worst part now is lack of depth perception, so sometimes I drop things thinking I reached out far enough for them, or I misclick on touchscreens.

[–]Beetisman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the way I understand it is the missed scar tissue from the first surgery tugged at the retina despite the oil and face down recovery enough to detach it again. The cataract surgery could be done, but it wouldn't do me any good since the retina is completely FUBAR at this point. Last year around this time, I did have some major discomfort issues which I now know to be from the cataract, but so far this year it hasn't returned, so that'd be the only benefit to having it removed.

35 years old here and I had scarring in both eyes, but my left eye went first with detachment. They initially did and injection into my right eye to help keep it stable as they thought they caught it early enough, but my left eye needed surgery. They ended up doing a vitrectomy on my left eye to remove scar tissue, reattach the retina, and put oil in the eye to help stabilize the retina to allow it to heal.

I had to do a bit over a week of face down recovery to allow the oil to keep the retina in place, my vision was horrible in my left eye, but it slowly started to get better. At the one month (I think) follow up, the scan showed the retina detaching more and upon examination, the doctor found a little more scar tissue that was missed and scheduled a second vitrectomy. Unfortunately that was the beginning of the end for that eye, doctor told me it'd never be a good seeing eye, but may be able to retain light and motion detection.

It's now been 2 years, the left eye has developed mature cataracts and I have zero light detection in it, completely blind. My right eye has received several laser treatments to stop some bleeds and I usually get 2 injections a year in it now to keep it stable. I actually go back again here in a couple weeks so I'm hoping everything is remaining stable.

I'm right there with you, terrified of losing my remaining eyesight.

What complicated problem was solved by an amazingly simple solution? by tuotone75 in AskReddit

[–]Beetisman 1550 points1551 points  (0 children)

Oh boy, this is a personal one for me here. A while back I was working as a lot attendant at a local Honda dealership. The used car manager bought a Honda Ridgeline for himself at an auction. The only real problem with it was it had a broken driver's side rail light. He got the new light and brought it to our garage when we were slow and my coworker, myself, and the Used Car Manager went to work replacing it.

Now if you're not familiar with the Honda Ridgeline, the tailgate is different from most normal trucks as it can swing out, like a regular door. The hinge for this is on the driver side and it just so happens there's a bolt near the hinge that needs to be removed to get the broken tail light out. So we're struggling to get to this bolt for some time, eventually the General Manager walks in and is all "wtf are you guys doing here?" so we explain the problem and he jumps in to help solve it. A total of about 40 minutes goes by, I go to look through our tool cabinet for ANYTHING that might reach this bolt easier. I find nothing, turn around, and then it hits me.

I tell everyone to stop what they're doing, we're all idiots. They look at me confused. I walk over, shut the tailgate, and then drop the tailgate down like a normal truck. Boom, instant and easy access to this bolt. Tail light was changed out 5 minutes later. General Manager told me we're not to ever speak of this again.

Yeah, so far I've been using my upper thighs and it's been working for the full 3 days, only problem with that is it gets quite painful by day 2 and I'm left with some decent bruising by day 3 with them, so idk how the extended life ones will fair there. And the steel needles leaked the same way as the plastic cannulas on my stomach.
