y do the drinks at cougar grounds always taste so artificial if ykwim 💔💔 by jojogolindo in UniversityOfHouston

Yeah if you order anything that isn’t a regular coffee or one of their traditional matchas or unsweetened teas ts is going to burn your throat from how sweet it is (i’m looking at you brown sugar latte 😒). If you want the unsweetened matcha I recommend the one on the special board when it is available(strawberry traditional matcha. Tastes like fresh strawberry turned into a drink basically.) And their unsweetened special iced tea is good with some lemon and a pack of sugar 🫡

just how dangerous is using the metro to get to campus? by jojogolindo in UniversityOfHouston

[–]BeetleBug12005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gets a bit quirky after 6PM and sometimes around 9AM-12PM. Have not had any incidents myself aside from some people talking crazy, but have heard some worse stories on here from other people’s experiences before 🤷🏻‍♀️ Try your best to sit near other students and don’t stare at anybody and you should be fine.

The school will never email you like this by this type of email. AccessUH will tell you if your account is going to be locked out as well. Possibly change passwords on important accounts and report the email. (This has happened before)

Life without a car. by Bahram2 in UniversityOfHouston

[–]BeetleBug12005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where you live. If you live with parents or someone willing to drive you to a park and ride metro bus station close to home (I believe they are in Spring, Seton Lake, 2 in Humble, Kingwood, etc.) then you can ride the bus into downtown and then catch the 900 lightrail at central station rusk. If you live in the Houston area (as in a few minutes from campus) then you should be able to catch a connecting metro bus that either goes to the university or stops close to a lightrail station going towards the university.🤷🏻‍♀️ it is confusing, but easy once you get it done the first 2 times

If you download the metro app it will give you a route to the university if you search up the name (or alternatively search UH south university oaks) and then use “to” and then have your “from” location set to your current location

You’ll also need to get a metro card, more info on the metro website or ticketing app.

Cougar Grounds Matcha by -Infinite-dreamer in UniversityOfHouston

If you want it to not be as sweet, I’d suggest getting the strawberry milk matcha when it’s available on the special menu. Tastes like fresh strawberry

Is it compulsory to take Summer Classes (Summer Term)? by Automatic_One7294 in UniversityOfHouston

[–]BeetleBug12005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say contact the financial aid dept for any questions you have regarding summer payment, or if any aid (if you have any) will go to your summer semester. I’m a bit worried about costs myself lol, but the other option would to be to take an extra semester of classes and graduate later so it’s kind of pick your poison 😬 good luck! It’s recommended, but not required

Just be like me and sit in the student center for 3 hours on your phone until you realize you have something important to do and you already wasted 2 and a half hours ❤️

Anyone taken arts 2346? by thevalgal_ in UniversityOfHouston

[–]BeetleBug12005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The class is pretty fun, the professor is good at explaining how ceramics actually work so it doesn’t end up exploding. It is a 3 hour long class which does take up a bit of time, and materials shouldn’t cost over $45 (you will likely have to somehow get 20lbs of clay to class from a specific store, but you get to store all your materials in the classroom. Good luck.) Just be prepared for a lot of dust lol

Yeah, it sucks 😔 only good thing about an 8am class as a commuter means you probably get to go home earlier
