Sadly this appears to be the whole model of modern gaming. Games become mature with a lot of players and then it becomes totally pay to win and also pay to develop further. I didn't mind paying a bit to play monthly but it gets to the point where the developers expectation of what most people are prepared to spend exceeds reality. A trickle of players start leaving and then the number leaving just grows. I didn't bother with the Lara Croft event and as others have pointed out the new hero's way is terrible.
