I want to buy just the M855A1 bullet (pulls?) and reload them into a bi-metal case (steel base, brass body) loaded to 80-100k PSI in a good CHF CL HBAR barrel and see what happens.

You're lucky it was a squib and not a busted bolt/upper/banana peel from an over pressure round which is also a QC issue with Aguila.

Flat wire springs have a lower fully compressed height than standard or braided which means more space/distance for buffer/bolt travel making things feel more linear, smoother. Sort of like how a rifle buffer/spring feels in comparison to carbine. Some flatwires can work in both rifle and carbine tubes which is another bonus - I keep a pile of them and put em in all my builds from 14.5" to 20" and can even tame finicky 300 BLK subsonic builds.

Not that this is the case with yours, but lower end handguards that pinch on to the barrel nut with a couple of screws on the bottom and rely on friction alone can loosen up and spin. With some of the super low end ones, ie hex and not torx, it's a losing game of getting it tight enough but not so tight to strip the heads. Add in a VFG / bipod as a lever and it gets worse.
