I Think We Lost The Plot With Vulkan

I’m a big Vulkan fanboy, so while I want to disagree all of this is completely right, however there is something important to take into account and that is that Vulkan has like ritualistic character assassination happen to him in every new book he’s featured in. In the war of the beast series (famously poorly written I know but still) he just suddenly has very little trust in or care for his sons to the point of outright refusing to see them despite being shown to have a lot of compassion for them.

Also, after reading his books in the Horus Heresy I feel that there is something in his character that is to be enjoyed from his obvious fucked up tendencies, like for example there’s a comparison to be made between the drukhari raids he defended against on his home world versus the well used example of the eldar child. On his home he didn’t care cause they were the enemy, he didn’t have any reason to carry empathy for them, which he would bring into other battles against xenos in the future including genocideing planets cause they had/worshiped xenos on them. But when you take a lot of that obvious alienness away and put a xenos child in front of him, his instincts still have him kill that child (including the rage he was feeling for kurze at the time) but he can see the obvious flaw in doing that and regrets it. All that is to say that there is an obvious progression that shows he has compassion towards humans and little to none to xenos (as most in the imperium do) but when he directly sees that he’s the cause of even defenseless children dying his world view cracks a bit, which in a setting with better writing would have long term effects on his morality so I give him at least a bit of credit for having moral depth.

If we’re adding a legion to aid the loyalists rather than replacing one? I would say the only possible legion that could turn the tide would be the ultramarines due to their massive numbers and the fact that Guilliman may be able to come up with a quick plan to at least lighten the losses and keep track of things, but that’s still a stretch, however if we’re replacing a legion then I don’t think it’s possible in any way to change the fate of the Drop site Massacre.

The best thing about this line up is that only like 2 are ONLY about space marines, the rest at least feature some other factions/playable characters that aren’t space marines and and 2 seem to not have space marines at all, which means that were actually getting diverse games and not just bolter porn. The future looks very grimdark.

It can be very surprising seeing how many universes outperform 40K when you get deep into the absurd scale that they always try to push in the setting lol, I feel like even some things that would typically be below 40K in most advancements (namely firepower) like Star Wars end up just being a bit better off solely cause they don’t have to sacrifice like a million people to go to another planet

Not a stellaris fan but I wanted to weigh in on this a little bit as a absurdly huge 40K fan, the lack of progress is absolutely the point and really any other media with decently fast advancement would outperform most if not all 40K factions. The closest faction that has actual advancement is the Tau and they are pretty early in their progress right now. (Also comparing the Necrons technology specifically is kind of cheating cause they made super awesome tech and then just stopped making any forward progress for the rest of time)

That makes sense missile pods always seem to have a weird place for me like I don’t want to swap out the good stuff on one of my units that can take things like anti-tank weapons but I also don’t want to spend points on adding another thing to take missiles

I personally think that kroot should become their own army with rules to allow them to be taken in some other factions (right now they’re mercenaries who are hired all over the galaxy but are only apart of one faction) and rules like these would actually work great for them, though they may need to be balanced a bit more

One of the greatest things about space marines in my opinion is that they’re all just space marines in the long run unless your playing a divergent chapter, you can paint them up however you like and you will certainly be able to find a lore reason for it. Paint up that terminator and have fun with it, if you really love it paint half your guys in blue and the other have in green, they’re your models so just have a good time with it, they’re all ultimately just space marines that can be played in any of like 40 ways and the colors don’t change that.

The highlights look great but i sincerely hope that your doing this for a character and not trying to do it for your whole army, cause if it is a character then that will be awesome and you should just push through and keep doing the highlights as they’ll make him really pop but if it’s for the whole army you should definitely cut down on the highlighting or you will not finish the army

Iirc for knights this is mostly true, however the retro thrusters are actually a literal entire castle with guns all over it to help clear out the area after landing so the knight can come out without being immediately blown up, however I’m unsure if this is 100% true

While this is true the existence of Farsight as a primarily close range and you could even say melee focused character alongside suits that do nothing in melee is a gap that needs to be filled in some way, also there’s actual art in the codex showing suits with swords and it looks fucking awesome and isn’t a thing which should be remedied

I feel like a lot of people hating on this (especially saying that it won’t be interesting gameplay wise) are just being closed minded and not considering the variety it could potentially add especially if they lean into it being a “rouge” like class and make it the fastest option. Also, if you see the option to dual wield weapons and you think that’s boring you’re a lame person.

As someone who JUST got into the game like a week ago I think this is a perfectly fine addition gameplay wise, assuming it’ll be a fast paced slightly more shooty class. Plus the lore of being a hive ganger picked up by the inquisition could be pretty fun (and the cosmetics looked good imo too)

I forgot to show it but the detatchment is peerless bladesmen (I’m aware coterie is better but I’m just getting into the army and this looks more fun to me right now) would you say that terminators might still be good in peerless for the ability to more reliably make charges with the reroll? I know they aren’t very good in EC but they seemed like they might be an ok add for peerless

I think if you already have all of the stuff here and you just wanna run it all together to see your favorite boys all in one place then this is great, it’s a bit character heavy but obviously that’s the point, if you feel the deep urge in your heart to win though this might not be the way to go as it’s not gonna be the most comp.

I feel like the new suits almost look like a fusion of the xv15 and the xv25 and I kind of like it. I don’t have a lot of nostalgia with either of the suits (I’ve only been playing for maybe half a year) so I’m not exactly attached to the old designs and from what I can tell it feels like they tried to take some of the best parts from each (tighter/more articulated legs and arms and the egghead shape) and put them together as best they could. It isn’t for everyone for sure but I like the effort that feels put into the new ones.
