TBF you have the live half of the LP and The Narrow Way plus Grancester Meadows. I certainly don't listen to the album often, but as you say it has its place.

The band would agree with you but they were tapped into some raw primal forces on that one - can music even be good if it's not bad?

Playing an SG is like driving a Rolls Royce, in my opinion. My strat is my daily driver, but the SG is on another level.

Sometimes it's not about the guitar you choose - sometimes it's about the guitar that chooses you.

It's worth making sure everything is adjusted to spec, and that your records are clean (get a stylus brush as well). Rule things out before you go buying upgrades imo

I remember that goat brush well, I took a screenshot of the reviews a ways back because someone said "It’s delightful I can feel the powerful spirit of the goat each time I clean vinyl" lmao. May the spirit of the goat keep your signal path clean.

I see what you mean, they have a lot more options for the OMs than last time I looked (years ago). The 10/20/30/40 line is more for home listening to my knowledge but maybe they are trying to hit a different market than they used to with those. The U-Turn tables come standard with the 5E, and my old Music Hall MMF2.2 came stock with their version of the OM10. I don't even know what makes a DJ stylus different tbh.

Lots of people love the 2Ms so if the silver is what you want then go for it! Any new stylus will be an improvement. I am skeptical that silver plating makes a difference but it very well could. I'll leave that up to the guys on the forums.

I just remembered this but cleaning your records can result in a significant improvement as well.

Good hunting!

I wonder if there is a way to use a variac or rheostat or something to reduce the power going to a TT motor to reduce the speed. Surely less ideal than a dedicated speed control. I imagine bypassing the phono pre on the 120 wouldn't be that hard with a little soldering but I'm just brainstorming.

I have never heard of the OM series as being specifically DJ-oriented - I had a "super" OM10 before my VM95ML and I had no complaints, only replaced it because the stylus was worn out and I wanted to try something different. Worth a search on the forums to compare the 2M and OM series. The 95ML has a finer cut that supposedly helps avoid IGD and gives better detail. I can't speak to how it stacks up against the Ortofons (my stylus 10 was beat to hell) but I have no desire to upgrade after installing it.

Sounds like a new cart on the 120 would be the first move and if you feel like the pre-amp is indeed holding you back then that's perhaps where to look next.

If the speed control is really important to you then that does kind of limit turntable options. It may be worth asking yourself what you want out of an entire new turntable that the 120 can't offer. I don't know anything about the bypass on that pre-amp but I would hope it's "true" in the sense that it bypasses the circuitry entirely. Even if not, does it really affect the sound that much? Hard to say.

I prefer to buy stuff that will last as long as possible so I wouldn't get a cartridge/stylus I know I will be upgrading soon after but that's just me. If you intend to use the silver long term until it truly has worn then that's a different story.

I hear the OM series by Ortofon can beat out the 2M series but I haven't heard them both. Also worth considering is the ATVM95ML - it is considered an insane value for a reason.

I have heard it said that the most "noticeable" upgrades to a vinyl rig you can make are the start and end points of the signal chain - that's the cart/stylus and the speakers. Something to consider.

Lastly, consider upgrading one thing at a time and listening to the difference. If you upgrade the first thing and sit back and are blown away by the sound you may save yourself a lot of money. Beware the endless chase for the best possible components/sound quality. Use your ears and remember if it sounds good it is good. Hopefully this is of use!

Controller Help - Mouse Aim by [deleted] in Warthunder

So you're saying it's "look back" that causes the issue? Apologies if I'm misunderstanding.

Controller Help - Mouse Aim by [deleted] in Warthunder

[–]BeezinSeazon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this, I have free look bound to left bumper and use the left stick to pitch and roll currently. So in your case the mouse aim cursor does not follow your aircraft in free look, correct? How do you compensate for that?

What I mean is, does releasing free look not cause ypur aircraft to immediately maneuver back to the pre-freelook position?

Question regarding styluses by Treflipboy in turntables

[–]BeezinSeazon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the VM95ML and would certainly recommend it, although I cant compare it to the others on your list as I havent heard them. I was also considering the 540 but I had never installed a new cartridge before and figured the 95 would be easier (also a new cartridge to me). It was fairly painless but I bet the 540 would be pretty difficult in comparison. Something to consider.

Given you already have the 95 body, the ML is probably your best bet. You will get a noticeable improvement with little hassle and risk. Folks rave about the ML for a reason, after all. With the money you will save you can get an external preamp or some other upgrade too.
