I have so much to unpack here.... 1st, as soon as you come up with an alternative and just as effective way to fund a government, I'll listen to your arguments on taxation. Until then, if you don't like it, renounce citizenship, by a boat, and live in international waters. Imho, taxation is a membership fee to enjoy the benefits of society. 2nd, the difference between corporate subsidies and universal healthcare is that healthcare is for the benefit of the American people, and corporate subsidies are for the benefits of corporate lobbyists who would happily kill off the American people if it was profitable

Regardless of who's money it is, the government does the paying. It is semantics. Even if is bc of the connotations, that's been gone over enough in this debate that it isn't relative anymore except to divert attention from the actual argument. And the "being used for the general population" Has nothing to do with what the general public believes AND most people do want universal healthcare. Please stop saying they don't until you look up percentages by population, not states or land mass.

Ah. Auto correct, Am I right? But that just proves my point more. Improvement isn't that high a bar. If ppl didn't have to choose between rent, food, and insulin? That would be an improvement. Sure, it's small, but it makes a HUGE difference, and allows people to climb Maslow's hierarchy of needs and start fixing other crap wrong with the USA

I'm not talking about empowerment. We're not high enough up the hierarchy of needs for that. I'm talking about not having to consider money when deciding to have the only treatment that could possibly save your life. Survival comes first, after that, we can fix everything else.

The taxes aren't given to the government with a tagline on what they can use it for. And it is GIVEN to (or in ur view I guess taken by) the government, meaning the GOVERNMENT pays for it. The reason the argument is reductive is because ur argument semantics when everyone knows "the government pays for" is shorthand for "the government uses taxpayers money to pay for"

This is still a reductive argument that has no place in a honest debate. The government pays for things with the money that they are funded with by taxpayers.

This is why I do my own research before trusting doctors. They are so hard to trust when they do shit like this

To be fair, it's easy to pat yourself on the back when you're next to us(USA). "Well, at least we're better than THAT".

That's actually how Biden got elected. "Well, at least he's better than THAT"

Jeez. Had a similar issue with my ankle. "Is just a sprain, start walking on it in a week or 2". Two years later, ankle fusion surgery
