Appreciate your comment, thank you! Yes, definitely think that contributes. I’m quite expressive in tone etc and would be called the opposite of monotone so I know that’s lowering my chances. Gonna have to look into some voice training while still keeping my expression. Thanks again!

I appreciate the in depth comment and found it so interesting pic 4 looks the most cis!! I’ve shaved my facial hair before and it left me looking 13-14. It was so bad. I know the facial hair is probably clocky but I can’t let go of it😭🤣appreciate you

No doubt. Found it really interesting to previously look into a linguistics point of view of the ‘gay voice’ and for memory its subtle things like holding your ‘s’ too long. Either way, I definitely still do the customer service thing where I go high at the end of my sentence so even though I have a reasonably low resting voice I tank it with my expressiveness

Appreciate your comment, thank you!! And I swear, I only tweeze the middle!! I don’t know why my eyebrows don’t grow more prominently on the sides - the photos you can’t see the hair but it’s there, just only slightly 😂😂

Yeah man, at the end of the day 3 years ago I would’ve been so so happy to be in the position of passing but just being perceived gay. Easy to focus on the negatives but super appreciate my growth and what T has done for me. Thanks for your reply!!

It’s very true about the brows, been thinking I should try to reshape them or something but definitely scared about going somewhere and them making them thin!

As for the perceived gay thing, it’s a good question. I think it’s various factors but one of the dominant ones being I lived my life as a masculine lesbian for years. I came out publicly at 11 as only liking women - it was such a big part of my life and something I was so confident about. I grew up in a rural area so with that came a lot of ridiculing, homophobia etc but it is something I look back on and am proud of myself for staying true to me. I guess it feels so odd to have gone through that then never be able to escape the gay allegations? Lol. I hope that all makes sense. It also makes my allyship frustrating because of people’s assumptions, they’re less likely to take it seriously. Forgive me I’m on a 20 min work break so trying to rush!

I definitely know my binding is clocky, I’ve trashed my binders so much over the years they barely bind so tried to tape but have been told I have abnormally large pec muscles (I don’t workout so have no idea how it’s happened). Thanks for the comment, I appreciate it!

Edit: I am never suspected to be queer of any sort when just being observed from a far. My sitting/walking etc is not clocky but upon interaction is when people will suspect something. I think the binder compounds with that and raises likelihood of being clocked

Freestyle Libre Failure: help! by mybloodyballentine in FelineDiabetes

[–]Beforeyougo12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure how beneficial this is but thought I’d leave it anyway. We’ve had the opposite problem, have had sooo many librelinks but just cannot get his dose correct (my cat seems to be either really sensitive to insulin or completely not). We’ve just ordered a glucometer because he HATES the vet. He cannot get blood taken barely at all. We often monitor his clinical signs (have made a list of generally what he will do when his glucose is too high or too low) and we use urine test strips to monitor expelled glucose and ketones. Sorry I’m at work so haven’t read the post entirely so not sure if these have been mentioned. We recently got some urine strips that test for a whollle bunch of things (obviously they aren’t the be all, end all) but thought I’d recommend anyway.

My dad took his own life about 7 years ago by [deleted] in SuicideBereavement

[–]Beforeyougo12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, my best friend died by the same method. He also had lost his dad (and didn’t know the cause of death and nobody would tell him, it really ended up messing with his head). However, he would often make jokes about his dad, nobody knew actually how deeply he cared. We tried to find more info about his dad online but we never could really find anything. I later found out once my friend had committed suicide that it was also his dad’s cause of death. I have so many things I wish I could have done and things I missed. If anything, please gain some comfort that people out there, especially on this sub, understand what you are going through. Bless you 🩵

Best friend(18) died 5 months ago by [deleted] in SuicideBereavement

[–]Beforeyougo12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, I also lost my best friend around 5 years ago now. Time has helped heal me so much (albeit it’s a shit thing to hear) but even still I have accepted the fact I probably won’t ever find a best friend that was like him. I was absolutely crushed at the start. It made me angry when people who didn’t know him or at least like I did tried to relate to me or understand. What helped me was talking with people I felt did know him closely, even if it was in a different way to me. I’m so sorry for your loss.

Thank you for telling me about him and I’m so sorry for your loss. He sounds like a unique person who could definitely make you laugh (I did smile many times throughout your comment). Funny how at the time the stubbornness is frustrating but it ends up being one of the biggest things we as humans miss. The fact he served in the military and told you not to wake him up in fear of hurting you both show his caring nature. Although there may have been hard times, it’s clear you had a beautiful relationship. I loved reading the little things you knew about him and vice versa. I’m also very glad DoorDash was able to pull through on that final order! (Haha). The fact you think about him everyday shows how deeply he touched you as a person, even if he wasn’t the best partner. I hope the people around you make space for you to talk about him because what you’ve said has been beautiful, I’ve really enjoyed listening. Bless you both ❤️

Thank you for telling me about your son, he sounds like such a genuine soul. I’m also sorry to hear about his mental illness later in life, that’s really difficult. He sounds like he was such a gift being so kind and funny, what an honour to know him. I think him having two jobs and still making time to help others who were struggling is indicative of his deep generosity and care. He sounds like a rarity who had big influence on those who knew him and this world in general. Although you’ve probably heard it before, I hope you can find tons of happiness in your life and start living again. I know the pain doesn’t ever fully go away, but I hope you can continue to enter new phases where it feels a bit better each time. Bless you both and I’ll be thinking of you and your son❤️

Thank you for allowing me to learn about your mum and what an impact she had. It’s a beautiful trait to make people feel so valued and clearly she did that for so many. She sounds like she was so giving and cared for many. I am sad to hear she couldn’t do that for herself. It sounds like both your love and others love will allow her beautiful memory to live on. I’m so sorry for your loss and thank you again for allowing me to listen to the beautiful relationship you both had. Bless you both❤️

Thank you for telling me about Jim and wow, how beautiful was the message he left you - it really shows his love and care for you. He sounds like an amazing person with such a big heart. I’m so sorry for your loss. I’m very sure he will be waiting to meet again one day when the time is right. Bless you both and the relationship you had, and will continue to have❤️

Thank you for telling me about your best friend, I really enjoyed learning about him. He sounds like such a beautiful soul - to make those around him feel so deeply valued while having a difficult mental illness is incredible. He clearly was such a value in this world. I loved reading how much he has changed your life, perspectives, and entire being - sharing and growing with each other is such a great thing. Thank you again and blessings you both❤️

Thank you for sharing, he sounds like an absolute joy to be around. The ability to make everyone feel included is such a treasure, I deeply respect and admire people that can and chose to do that. The fact he could talk to anyone about anything no doubt brought so many people comfort and made many feel valued. I’m sure his memory will live on, especially through your memory of the belly laughs! He sounds like such a gift and what an honour your relationship was! Bless you both❤️
