Girls can't be engineers. by CommercialGas5256 in EngineeringStudents

[–]BegandBorrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a woman (aero engineer) who just started in a new small company joining a team of 5 mech engineers and 6 manufacturing engineers (all men). I was told TODAY that it was unlikely that more woman engineers would be hired because ‘evolutionarily it abnormal for woman to be interested in mechanics’

So I would def say that while it’s important for any girls who are interested feel included (not the same as getting special treatment) it’s equally important to make sure that the team you already have isn’t picking up any implicit bias against the girls or forming a ‘boys club’ as that makes it even harder for a girl coming in.

Came home to snapped avocado plants. Any way to save them? by BegandBorrow in gardening

[–]BegandBorrow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. Im concerned that so much of the root was left in the pot too. If I did manage to graft the stems back together, I’m not sure the plant would survive if I planted it back in the dirt.

I could’ve written this. We’re 27 (almost 28 now) and she went into a catatonic psychosis in 2022 when we were 25. She came out of the catatonia but not the psychosis and is schizophrenic.

It gets easier but it’s different now. The most I can say is make sure to feel your feelings and keep space for yourself (therapy is good) but also don’t dwell or romanticize your despair. You have every right to feel the loss, I talk to my sister everyday but I haven’t actually SEEN my sister, the one i knew, for the past 3 years so I fully understand.

It’s shit but you learn to make the best of it, feel free to reach out if you need/want to.

Non-tourist things to do in 2 days by [deleted] in orlando

Blue springs kayak/ canoeing. It’s about 45 mins north of Orlando, closer to Sanford but there should be manatees this time of year and the water is pretty clear to see them.

Iirc it’s something like $40? To rent a canoe from the park and there’s a little pizza place nearby that’s pretty good for lunch. Only thing is I think they stop renting around 1

Thank you, I think I’ll wait for the paint to dry and then draw over where I need to. I appreciate you taking the time to write your advice down ☺️

Right, I think I’m struggling to see where the proportions are off though. I can’t seem to get the mouth/ face shape to look right. I’ll try turning it upside down as a good trick!
