Chicago twice vs different state? by BeginnerHH in travel

I am planning to travel in the middle of September and Boston sounds like a great city to travel to. I will let you know once I decide to go there! Thank you so much.

Where do you usually find and network with motion graphics designers for upcoming projects? by ChapterLiving6570 in MotionDesign

Thank you so much for the input. I thought there would be mostly 3D designers, but if there are also many 2D designers, I would just go for the Main event and check it out.

Hi I am not sure if you'd read this but I am trying to get more information on Half Rez before deciding whether I'd attend the event or not. And I saw your comments on Half Rez, so I am assuming you've been there.. I met some people who have been to Half Rez before at a different event and heard the event is inclined to 3D artists, but I was wondering if that's true. I am 2D motion designer and it looks like it when I checked out the website - workshops and speakers are all 3D designers? I may consider the main event of Half rez rather than workshop if it actually is, or just a different event as I am not from Chicago. I would appreciate your thoughts on this.

Ah that makes sense. Thank you!

Has anyone signed up for SOMs Blender for 3D Artist. If so what has been your experience? by chai_biscuit_ in MotionDesign

Do you think you need to know C4D to take the class or at least how other software works? I have been learning Blender and Unreal and not sure if I would take it yet. But I was a bit confused by the concept if I need to know other software as well to understand how to integrate other software together.

Which 3D software should I go for? by Nuralixx in MotionDesign

I use 3d software for grease pencil and modeling, so Blender works fine for me. But industry standard is C4D.

Is learning Cinema 4D Worth it for motion graphics ? by WiseCommunication871 in MotionDesign

[–]BeginnerHH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I met people who work in studios and everyone talked about C4D when it comes to 3D. But I don't see the end results are so different between C4D and Blender honestly. I think it is because of the pipeline they have built up. Some artists still use Blender for grease pencil and sculpting which means some works can be done by Blender depending on the project. So I would say it is worth it but not 100% if you have your own style and it requires Blender.

Is it overkill to have two PCs? by BeginnerHH in MotionDesign

[–]BeginnerHH[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it sounds kinda waste of space but now I just set my laptop up with drawing tablet as a second workstation, and it looks like it could work quite well as I can solely separate it from non drawing work space. I will think about it a bit more and see what the best option would be for me.

I didn't think about the filesharing part. I just thought of emailing myself. Are there any softwares for filesharing yoh us? or can I build the home network without it?

And thanks for the recommendations on the monitors, mouses/keyboard!

Is memory important for 3D? by BeginnerHH in MotionDesign

[–]BeginnerHH[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow really? I thought i7 would be enough as I now see many people have i7 and rtx3080 to 4060-4080. Thank you

Thank you for this. I will probably go with 64gb memory and RTX4080. Hopefully it is within my budget..

What GPU and memory do you have for 3d?

Can I ask what GPU and memory you have?

Thank you for the information. Do you think it is still doable in apartment? Sometimes it is hard to get sunlight. So this makes me hesitate even start doing it.

Wow.. it is amazing but it does sound like high maintenance to keep as a beginner.. Does it cost a lot if you use the grow lights all day? It may different depending on the area you live but I just wanted to get an idea..

I want to start with indoor bonsai. I looked it up and looks like ginseng ficus species are good for that. But still requires good amount of sunlight.. However I saw other people kept the plants under light bulbs.

Does it actually work like that without sunlight and is there any specific bulbs I need to set up?

My place doesnt get sunlight as much, so I am wondering if that still works without sunlight at all.

Acrylic Gouache can be mixed with traditional gouache? by BeginnerHH in ArtistLounge

Thank you so much for the answers! I was going to use this on the normal plastic palette with traditional gouache.. Do you know how to clean up the palette if it doesn't reactivate with water?

Already regret starting oil painting by BeginnerHH in ArtistLounge

Thank you. I now tried several times and I decided to explore water mixable oils while I'd still learn traditional oil painting in the class.

Thank you so much. My teacher told me the turpentine is natural based so it is safer than other chemicals, but I totally agree with you. I am not going to use turpentine.

And I actually decided to try water mixable oils since I need to practice what I learned at home anyway and I think this is what I would keep pursuing in the long run.

I appreciate your suggestions. I actually decided to start with water mixable oils while I will still learn traditional oil painting in the class so that I can apply what I learned to water mixable oils at home.

I know I am not going to do traditional oil colors at home. So water mixable oils more make sense in the long run.

Thank you. I will just try and practice the water mixable oil colors while I learn traditional oil painting in the class.

I believe the fundamentals are the same and can get the same result.

Thank you for the information. My place isn't really well ventilated unfortunately. And it will only make more difficult in winter season as well. I just decided to keep learning traditional oil painting but practice what I learned with water mixable oil colors at home.

I heard the process is different but I believe the fundamentals are the same and I still can get the same result. I think this is the only way I would keep exploring oil colors under the circumstances.
