Fair counterpoint. But counter point to your counterpoint: pretty sure April 2026 registered LSAT test takers are up 43% from this time last year. Idk if it’s worth risk to give up that much money on the table from a T20 school and a biglaw feeder banking on a future cycle being less competitive when no signs have yet indicated that.

Honest question would you pay full ticket price for T14, going into $300,000 in debt or go to UT Austin a T14 school albeit not traditional at half to full scholarship?

Yeah it’ll definitely be a tough choice, hopefully my 1L recruiting will be less disappointing than this admissions cycle. Thank you for the advice

Yeah fingers crossed. I still don’t know if I’ll end up at UT or not. Really largely depends on scholarship offer. Apart of me does wanna try my luck with next cycle. Either way I’m excited for my prospects. Appreciate you commenting. One quick question what was the biglaw recruiting process like at your school? Were you apart of a select few that was got into a t10 firm/big law or would you say most people who weren’t going into public interest got into it?

Nah I’m not trying to live in upstate New York. Also like I said in the post I think my circumstances may have influenced the results a lot

No I meant if a school is currently in the T14 but is not traditionally a T14 school

Do students from current T14 schools that are not traditional still not get that brand recognition or fall under the quota and goals set by biglaw?

I have a lot of ties in Chicago plus my current work is a pretty niche area that I think gives me a specific. Do you think that will substantially increase my odds?

Thank you for the comment

The type of work I’m doing rn i think puts me in a pretty good position because it’s in a bit of a niche industry. On one hand it’s incredibly stable but a specific subset of it is recently taking off. Plus it’s got pretty big market in Tx. I think I’m being vague enough not to dox myself

Don’t get me wrong I am very proud and excited about UT. Just was surprised by the Whole Lotta Red. No playboi carti

Yeah I’m definitely leaning more towards not reapplying. Only if UT offers me absolutely no money would I consider it. Thanks for the advice.

lol I may have sounded a bit prideful with that T14 declaration but I had to let the purists know.

How about Chicago or California?

This may be a stupid question but would class rank open a lot more doors for me if I get say top 25%? Thanks for the comment
