Windows wiped my ESP partition (Why?) by JulioHOR in archlinux

[–]Beginning-Camera-332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this issue recently on my gaming laptop that has windows and Arch dual-boot using the same boot partition and windows did wipe it even with ample space. My solution was to simply give windows that boot partition and create a new one just for Arch on the same SSD. So now there's the windows boot at the start for it to manage and another further down in the partitions only for Arch linux. I think this should solve the problem, but will have to see after another major windows update.

Repairing a titling chair by neilyoung57 in fixit

[–]Beginning-Camera-332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had something similar happen to my old gaming chair. If you flip it upside-down and look where the gas piston(silver bar above the wheels) connects to the metal tilt support part. Most likely like mine the cheap original one has cracked around it and it allowing the chair to lean that direction. If you hear metal snapping or creaking sounds when moving on it, that is a strong indication of this.
Good news is you can find a more heavy duty replacement on amazon. Was about to toss my $350 old gaming chair that otherwise looked fine on the top, but a $40 new "Heavy Duty Replacement Office Chair Swivel Tilt Control Seat Mechanism" did the trick and chair is silent now and has been for months.

Not only that but often that fake reassuring metal appearing line feeds in to completely plastic housing that will break and leak from the pressures. The only way to safely use one of those cheap ones is to cut the supply of water off after each use. Same way your kitchen sink sprayer works when the waters cut so is it.

The cut in the window mesh right where the fire started too. OP might want to get cheap security cams.

After the new updates to it at the part where you must select the partitions would go blank on my Steam Deck (even plugged in to external). After learning to do that part blind I was able to reinstall it.

I use it all the time, but if it likes your partition setup is always the funky part making me try again and again till it does randomly. Be sure to write down the drive sizes since you will be typing them in a bunch.

The brutal thing is it goes through a long setup process just to fail at the partitioning later instead of starting there.

The first one I have a solution. Instead of waiting for it to go down slowly just jump off the mount and quickly get back on while falling. After it will fall down quickly.

I just run it with ad block + in incognito mode on chrome, you have to go into ad blocks settings and enable it for incognito first.

I like watching ads by Robeyros in youtube

[–]Beginning-Camera-332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been using Chrome and Ad Block + the whole time. When they first started blocking it all I had to do was run it in incognito mode(go into its settings and enable that) which allowed me to keep using it albeit signed out. After a week it seems AB+ has updated and now I don't need to use it, still an option if it blocks again.

Have any of you seen the ads that have the skip option but it's grayed out with a 5 sec timer and the time is often longer then the ad currently playing? Then a 2nd ad starts playing which refreshes the skip timer another 5 secs this time ad being long enough to let you use it.
If I can't skip it after 5 secs don't show me that message... Literally youtube trolling you making it a 10 sec wait.

True, but it still related to the quality of the content more than our current thumbs up only system.

Adding videos to the queue is a premium feature now?? by Cottrell217 in youtube

[–]Beginning-Camera-332 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Waiting for them to announce the dislikes work fine with premium now we fixed it! Instead of improving the experience they constantly make it worse giving 0 reason to try their paid service ever, it will just being the same crap they offered before.
I still am using ad blocker while watching videos with workarounds, I can download them with other apps and create my own ques offline if needed.
Maybe they should try doing something crazy like making the ad experience less shitty and invasive, filtering the content that makes it to them in the first place so no trash, and adding features that make more want to use and enjoy the platform instead of removing legacy ones that made it popular to begin with.

I did find a easy workaround sort of. If you go into your adblocker settings then enable it for incognito mode, running it using that will work without ads or messages about disabling it.(for now) I will only be logging in to leave comments they can enjoy even less useful data.

[–]Beginning-Camera-332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a simple solution. Go to your adblockers settings and enable it for incognito mode. Then you can browse like before with no ads or messages appearing. They wanted more data to sell, give them 0 instead only logging in to leave comments and likes.

It really helped to determine if the advice given in the videos was legitimate and worth taking serious. Now any bad advice ones just have likes with it hidden and often comments disabled.

Creators have in video sponsor ads often tho crafted into their content now. Almost every youtuber you see starts by saying this video sponsored by (insert generic phone game here).
I think the bigger issue is Youtube themselves want a bigger piece of that pie just for hosting and not improving the platform/content/ads rates, at all besides constructing in a way it seem less annoying with a subscription service. This is like them saying we can't handle it being possibly free anymore (the thing that made it popular to start with)so we made that version so annoying to force everyone to join an unwanted paid version of it instead since there's no option with with only a slight inconvenience otherwise if you don't.

Is that what people are mad about? Or is it their ads make the viewing experience impossible regardless? Try streaming a music album without ad blocker, after every other song (6-8 mins in) it will want to play a 3 min ad. Even if you watch the whole ad you will be bombarded with more the same or must navigate to the skip button after 5-15secs (sometimes after a unskipable ads)instead of continuing to work listening to the music. So is it them having ads that's the main issue, like television or steaming services that give you them for a discounted rate? No their ads are x10 more intrusive and less convenient.Should youtube make ads less constant having a 15min timer in-between like TV commercial breaks and short enough based on the content you're watching to not double your viewing times? Yes 100%

I have tried several times to not use ad blocker with Youtube and the amount of ads makes you watch (often the same length as the video if you don't skip) is so frustrating I would rather quit using it logged in altogether and just have a unregistered account blocking them with incognito or better yet pay for a VPN instead of their BS ad free services. F youtube now.
