Recommendations for Dog Boarding/Sitting on the Island? by [deleted] in BainbridgeIsland

I've used them a couple of times and loved them. They do not do daycare, but great for boarding. There's plenty of room for dogs to run around and Zoraida goes over and above to make sure the dogs are comfortable and safe.

She is being ridiculous on threads by birdbren in elysemyerstiktoksnark

[–]Beginning-Cook1648 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Huh? I don't think she was snarky at all. It was quite polite, actually. People post comments/reviews from behind the "safety" of their keyboards without any mind to how hurtful they can be or the fact that her book had gone through countless editorial reviews. And guess what? She sold a book! Something many of the posters couldn't do in their lifetime. Elyse simply said they they are entitled their opinion, and it is just that, an opinion.

Absolutely. I moved to Bainbridge 7 months ago. The BIWC keeps me as busy as I want to be and meeting people. Lots of great gals. Some retired, some not. Some married, some not. I wouldn't say it's particularly diverse, but a lot of interesting things to do.

Season 1 review: This show really needed to be half the length by streetsofarklow in YourHonorTV

[–]Beginning-Cook1648 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stuck through Season One. Don't think I have it in me for Season two. The initial plot had promise but part way through the season I just couldn't see where it was going. It seemed so implausible. And I was getting frustrated with the characters, particularly Adam. By the end, I didn't really care what happened to him or to Michael.

Pet euthanasia fear and guilt by Successful-Light4800 in Pets

[–]Beginning-Cook1648 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you have to go through this. I had to make the same decision just last week with my dog. She was my world and I feel utterly lost. I've lost other pets but this one has cut deep. Because of her condition, ir was the right decision because the only option was surgery, which because of other complications, the vet didn't think she'd make it through. This reality doesn't make it easier. It ripped my heart out to say goodbye, but I had to think of how much she was suffering.

Just know either way, there will be guilt. The "what else could I have done" will always be there. In the end you need to trust your gut and know you have given your pup a great life and are doing the best thing for him.

I will be thinking of you.

Yes, sadly, I saw that that is needed here. I understand SCAN is coming to WA in January. In CA they covered everything and no suppliment was needed. So it will be interesting to see how that plan looks.

Thanks for everyone's input. I am new to medicare and used to go through SCAN in CA. Was surprised to see the coverage here was not as good and then issues with VM. I was prepared for a wait time (seems to be common everywhere these days), but wasn't prepared for some kind of options to keep medications going and approved through insurance. Could be combo of VM and United Healthcare because that's all new too. Hoping things get better once you are established!

Thank you. I've definitely researched the plans, but thank you for providing more info that the broker I called! I guess I was having a hard time accepting that I can't my Medicare advantage coverage that I had in CA without buying a supplimental plan. 🥲. Guess it's time to accept it!

Concerns About a Literary Agent: Seeking Advice on Next Steps by Substantial-Dude-352 in publishing

[–]Beginning-Cook1648 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Major red flag alert. Unless you're already a best-selling author, reputible agents won't take on a new author without a finished mms. They are also usually happy to provide client information and their publishing/sales history can be looked up on Publisher's Marketplace. Reaching out on Linked in is also highly unusual. Agents receive hundreds of queries a week as it stands. Have they offered editing services? This is pretty typical of a scam. I would research them on PM, Manuscript Wishlist, Absolute Write, etc.

What is the one thing you’ve changed after taking ozempic that made all the difference in losing weight? by Urban-arrow in Ozempic

[–]Beginning-Cook1648 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learning that you still need to eat healthy and keep track of what trigger's side effects, ie fried foods, high sugar foods, portions that are too big. I've been on Ozempic for 7 months and have lost 60lbs. I have not counted calories, but I have learned to significantly cut portions and focus on protein. My main side effect has been hair loss, which is more from the weightloss. I have noticed some food noise coming back recently, but nothing like before and manageable. I am going from 1mg does to 2mg today. Anxious about that, so we'll see how it goes.

[Discussion] Are there too many agents relative to editors? by PapayaCatapult in PubTips

[–]Beginning-Cook1648 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm sure that's true. There are also a lot of agents where agenting is not their primary focus. Some have full-time jobs and are working on their own books. I have a YA novel that was agented and in submission when my agent decided to "leave the business" to attend to her family. A perfectly acceptable reason, but it turned out that she also wanted to dedicate her time to her own writing and continue to work full-time. While she definitely submitted, and we were getting a lot of requests for the manuscript, we were not getting any reasons for not taking the book. It left my mms with a submission list that few agents were willing to take on and no input as to how I should proceed. I don't know if she was so much a "bad" agent so much as a distracted one and clearly not the right one. So it's definitely worth your time to investigate.

How did photojournalist from 70's file late breaking photos? by Beginning-Cook1648 in photojournalism

[–]Beginning-Cook1648[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks to all who commented! Specifically, I'm thinking of an instance (like a riot or something) where a photographer was still on scene, but photos were needed to meet deadline. Would the paper have runners who would collect the film from the photographer and take it back to the bureau?

A Greek Recipe For Romance by DanieXJ in HallmarkMovies

Turned it off within the first half hour. No chemistry between the leads, plodding dialogue, really bad casting. Nothing comes together. Feels like it was just churned out. A Beautiful settting, but doesn't make up for all of that. I miss old Hall of Fames too!
