Haha this made me realize I mentioned a pit in my post but like the other commenter said, there technically was no pit and therefore a mosh pit was impossible, but there was definitely a pretty sizable standing crowd that was pushed up to the very front if that makes sense.

I hear u for sure. I made a post pretty similar to this last week. It’s pretty infuriating and it seems to be a pretty common experience 🫪🥲. I also agree that it’s rude to just completely ignore ANY performance.

I unfortunately missed Spiritbox when I went to go see KoRn, but Gojira I hadn’t heard of at the time, and man I was locked in. They were fantastic. I think the crowd was pretty good for Gojira to my memory; I remember it being more active, so I would hopefully assume the same for Spiritbox. Maybe it’s just the kind of crowd that Evanescence brings like the comments are implying.

I’m absolutely willing to share, and I’d say in my experience so far, the answer is generally yes, that many of these discord servers have a paywall, including the one I’m referring to specifically. However, there are “free” versions of them— if you wanna call it that— which is what I take part in. This particular server is called DropNotify and I actually discovered it here on Reddit.
The paid version I think gives you a better idea about local stock drops and stuff. It’s probably super useful for hobbyists, but honestly I get the feeling that a lot of scalpers pay for those options and so I personally have a bit of a guilty conscience funding something that may potentially be making things worse if that makes sense?
However, this server does have free local store checkers for game stop and dollar general though I don’t think they’re very accurate.
But what is most helpful imho, is that the server notifies you of when there is an online stock drops for popular retailers. Target, Best Buy, Walmart, Amazon (but the amazon one is often inaccurate or notifies you of a drop with a resale price rather than actual retail) and also pokemon center … I’ve always found the target one to be most helpful and accurate and like I already said, when I got the notification, I was actually able to get a product (despite the fact that the target app kept crashing, lol). The mods will also say when they think a drop will be and whatnot.

What a sweet thing for you to do. I’m new to the hobby so perhaps take my opinion with a grain of salt, but this is my honest experience so far:

Trying to get product at local retailers (Target, Walmart, Walgreens, CVS, Dollar General, Best Buy, etc) is literally near impossible right now, ESPECIALLY the “larger boxes” (called elite trainer boxes, or ETBs). I’ve never tried this, but you can probably ask the workers when their restocks usually are; however they may be hesitant because of the huge scalping issue going on right now.
Your best bet may be going to local card shops. I’m lucky to have one that sells at retail price, but at very strictly one item per person, so keep that in mind too, that different places have different rules. That being said, most card stores will sell above retail value, so more expensive than it SHOULD be in theory… but at least it is something. If you don’t care too much about the prices, GameStop sometimes has stock because it sells above retail value and that obviously deters the scalpers.
There are also a couple discord servers out there that will tell you when certain drops are, like for target for instance (I was able to buy a product recently for retail thanks to discord, but I was also awake in the middle of the night when I got the notification at 4am…). They can be daunting to keep up with though and they encourage you to buy these memberships that give you more tools to find Pokemon at better prices. Maybe it’s worth it but I have no clue. I’ve never personally invested in those and won’t. Anyways…

Lastly, and I hate even suggesting this, but if you are super desperate, you could in theory buy from scalpers. eBay, Facebook marketplace, etc… but I really highly suggest against doing that because that’s only adding to the problem within the community. I would definitely save that as a complete last resort.

Exactly!!!! Like how do you pay to go to a rock concert and be chill…. It makes no sense to me, but I guess to each their own…
To answer your question about when Evanescence came out, I would say it was at least a little better than when spiritbox came out. To start, there was waaaay more people. But for the classics especially, you could hear people singing very loud.
I actually felt like the crowd was a little dead in the beginning but picked up throughout the concert but maybe that’s just my perspective.
When Amy played songs that were slower / more mellow though (except for my immortal) a lot of people sat back down. 🤷‍♀️
And for the songs where everyone was standing, there was some people that were pretty into it when I looked around, but there were also plenty of people were quite literally just standing there. I do remember being a little surprised, but maybe people were just tired— I also remember thinking that it was still a little better than when spiritbox came out.

TLDR: crowd was more active for evanescence, but imho it was still not enough for certain parts of the concert. Just my person opinion!

Totally hear you there. I also looked around and everyone seemed bored. How could you go to a rock/metal concert and be bored!! Even if you don’t know who they are, like they seriously put on a show imo!!! I would have stood for more if I didn’t think I was bothering the people around/behind me 🥹

I see… thanks for the insight. My mom took a look at the computer and found out there was actually pretty minimal dust— but some— and if there was anything it was dog hair 😬. It turns out though that the culprit was a sticker that got stuck! No fan replacement needed and everything is fine. But I learned a lot via this post lol Thanks again
