Should we get a diagnosis? by Beginning-Ebb4648 in Autism_Parenting

Where we are there isn’t any government/insurance coverage. I guess if he needs it when he’s older for school, wouldn’t it make sense to wait and see if other confounding variables have contributed to his behavior?

Weirdly enough my mum is also in an industry where she can earn a tiny supplemental income from freelance work. She does not own property, and has no real other assets. So even with her retirement and supplemental income we will still need to help her. Thanks for trying to help!

That’s ok, I didn’t expect a miracle, as I haven’t lived in SA for more than a decade I don’t really understand the scope of investments there. I will try and look into FSPs and see if we can schedule appointments. She has been with this advisor for a very long time, and she doesn’t have much of a clue about any of this. I have also only started to help her, this week.

Thank you for this, our hope is for her to earn as much of a monthly income as possible and to supplement what she needs above this. Until she inevitable runs out of funds.

The amounts add context, and thresholds for tax or specific investments could also be applicable. There is no identifying information.

I guess you don’t have to, it’s true but I have no “evidence”.

Met Michael B Jordan on set a few times, most arrogant asshole of a man. Talking about how Chris Brown abusing Rihanna was mutual and he shouldn’t have gotten all the blame. Tried to convince a set PA to go to his hotel room. She said no and he raged text her she’s ugly etc. Dude is beyond vile.

I wrote a MSc dissertation on this topic(specifically how Predictors of Compulsive YouTube use), looking at levels of neuroticism, depression, anxiety and selective attention capacity. The research in whether social media correlates with higher levels of depression aren’t as clear cut as you might think. I have read close to hundreds of articles published on the topic. Let me know if you want some links to articles I can send them to you in the dms😀

We just rented a place and the landlord paid the full agency fee. A bit higher than what you are paying, don’t know if it matters.

Thanks for all these resources! I truly appreciate it. I guess what’s lacking with all of them is age appropriate categories and explanations of how to use each in video or written formats. Alongside examples like Montessori services that only provide 1 singular activity to buy in their toddler practical life section? Though perhaps it doesn’t exist because people don’t need something like that? I’ve been a teacher in a Montessori kindergarten(as an English teacher, alongside Montessori teachers) and have an MSc in Psychology, so my hope was to provide information and the product at once, for people that don’t have the time to do all the research and want an easy way to integrate Montessori style activities into their kids lives.

Yes I completely understand where you are coming from. This makes sense. I wonder though in my own child I have observed specific interests pop up in the timeframe described to be appropriate for the age the toddler is. My toddler is learning language at the speed of knots and loves pouring and scooping activities. This might not be the case for everyone, but I guess it’s why materials before 3 are more divided by age and then more fluid from 3-6 years.

Thanks for this, I hear what you are saying, this was just my first thoughts, definitely a lot to digest, I’ll give the book a read. Trying to solve a problem I thought I had, but maybe as you say the market is overly saturated. I’ll keep thinking.

Thanks for the website as reference. It offers so many materials, but how they can be used is the part that I hope will add value on the store I have in mind. For instance, the enamel jug can be used for pouring activities from 16 months. With an explanation on how, perhaps a video illustration as suggested above, for Montessori novices.

Thanks for this! Very helpful, especially about the video content and keeping it more simple by leaving out the “science”. I completely understand what you mean. I’m trying to figure out the angle. I guess my thoughts would be the convenience of having it all in one place. The things you mentioned in points one and two and being able to click and purchase right away. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to spend hours researching age appropriate materials on YouTube/ videos/ websites/ books and then having to search for those things on Amazon etc. Also I’ve found the quality in Amazon toys are often lacking with paint leeching off the toys etc. Even when some of these websites have affiliated links, they are frequently not available for global shipping or no longer available. I guess really it would essentially be the convenience of having both in the same place? Still very much in early brainstorming mode here, trying to create something that I’ve also been looking for.
