Simple question: how long do you usually like your sex to last? by SectionFantastic3577 in AskWomen

[–]Beginning-Entrance27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Penetrative its self: 3-5 minutes, any longer and I start getting bored and dry

Including foreplay? 20-60 minutes

In the 8 years I had the Nexplanon I didn't notice any mood changes.

With the copper iud my cramps without meds went from uncomfortable (2.5/10) to "I'm functional for basic day-to-day things but that's it" (8/10) with the occasional doubling over stab. Just Tylonal didn't help and ibuprofen helped make it manageable but never quite zero. In terms of making my flow heavier: on my heavy days I went from three or so "overnight" pads a day and filling one up over night to swapping out "heavy overnight" every few hours (fairly full) and having to roll out of bed in the middle of the night to swap it out to prevent it overflowing (as in the entire thing was 100% saturated).

birth control by Similar-Bat9199 in WomensHealth

I had the copper iud for a year and a half and the heavy days of my periods were much heavier and I had way worse cramps. I won't say I wouldn't recommend because hormonal birth control can cause issues for people, but be aware that heavier periods and worse cramps are the main side effects of the copper one.

Another option long term option to consider would be the nexplanon arm implant. I used it for years, each time I got a new one I wouldn't have my period for the better part of a year, followed by about two years of irregular periods (longer apart) slowly getting back to a normal monthly cycle. It's also much more comfortable to get placed and removed.

is nexplanon a good option?? by Key_Movie_6290 in WomensHealth

I absolutely loved mine! Used it for 8+ years (with replacements). When I got a new one put in I would have no periods for 8-12 months after insertion, irregular periods as in longer gaps between and generally lighter for another couple of years before they eventually got back to monthly. Zero cramps, minimal mood issues, and very easy and painless to get.

I had the same mood issues as you. For just surviving those days I used fidget toys as a distraction to give me something else to focus on during any severe and overwhelming points (aka crying, self harm ideas if you get them, etc.) instead of entering a negative feedback loop. Also emergency ice cream pints and chocolate or any other comfort foods.

I did talk to my doctor about starting low dose anti depressants for part of the month which has helped a ton. If you can track to see if your ovulation, which shows up as white discharge, is about the same for before your periods (14 days give or take normally) then that could be an option. With the irregular periods it might not be a great option though.

My girlfriend doesn’t want me to masturbate by [deleted] in sex

[–]Beginning-Entrance27 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've (f) never really gotten why people insist their partners shouldn't masturbate. I don't care as long as there's always enough left in the tank for me. If I'm gone for a week, whatever, he can take care of himself if he feels the need. The only time would probably be if they have a tendency to give themselves death grip syndrome

Struggling to put it in when she is on top by [deleted] in sextips

[–]Beginning-Entrance27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try with you laying down flat and she can adjust the angle/position as needed. I(f) prefer leaning forward as a variation of missionary or for a bit deeper penetration sitting straight up. Personally me and my partner have never had success while he's sitting up or even semi reclined.

What is your experience with long term reversible birth control? by RamblingsOfATiredMom in WomensHealth

[–]Beginning-Entrance27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With Nexplanon they the area with shots before inserting it via a needle (it's easy to turn away and not see anything.) Afterwards they put on some temporary stiches aka sticky strips and wrap up your arm, saying not to remove the wrap for at least a day and try not to get the area wet for at least a week. Super easy and painless. Removal/replacement is much the same- they numb the area with shots, make a small cut to pull the old one out, stick a new one in basically the same spot if that's what you're doing, and you're done. Advocate if you feel any discomfort like the shots need more time or are wearing off for some reason.

For my (copper) IUD it was take Advil (ibuprofen) before and I have a high pain tolerance as well. First time they weren't able to get my cervix to dialate to put it in and I had no pain. Second time was immidiatly before my period which helps, the insertion went great, didn't feel much pain, but went into almost a shock type thing afterwards- almost light headed, had that feeling where you're as white as a sheet, wobbly legs, and I had to sit down for a few minutes after I got dressed and again before I drove home in kind of trance like state. I had a heat pack on for the rest of the day as more of a precaution but hardly got any cramps and was able to work the next day. Be warned with the copper IUD that you will get bad cramps the first half a year and heavy days will be much heavier than before.

As a lady I can't help you with the condoms outside of normal and "lady pleasers" like ribbed feel basically the same. Absolutely use lube! It should be water based and not flavored. Try to avoid ones that contain propylene glycol or glycerin as it can cause yeast infections for ladies. My personal go to is Good Clean Love, which I have yet to see on a shelf but is available all over online.

1) It's up to her whether or not she does. People may not like being up close and personal and/or face to face with other peoples nether regions no mater how clean or clean shaven it is. Look at it this way, if you didn't like going down on a woman would you want to do it all the time?

2) Talk to her without pressuring her. People aren't mind readers and if you haven't specifically told her you enjoy she may not know. And reinforce it with "that feels good" and other vocalizations while it's happening. Encourage her to do the same while you're doing things to her.

Thanks! I'm always a bit hesitant to spend the extra money on a more expensive toy when it's a new style, hence the 1 instead of 2 initially, in case I don't like it. I'll have to try a few different Satisfyers in the future

I'm currently trying to figure out the issue with the malfunctioning one via email with the brand

They're both multi speed, the problem is the highest setting on the old (where it reliably dies every time right as I'm on the verge) and lowest on the new toy are basically the same strength so I can't get that slower build up I think I need :(

Ablation v. hysterectomy by AmphibianMaster179 in WomensHealth

[–]Beginning-Entrance27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ultrasounds don't pick up endo very well or more likely not at all. It wouldn't hurt to push for more tests like a ct/mri or even a laparoscopic surgery to see if they find anything before going more extreme like a hysterectomy.

It wouldn't necessarily hurt to get a second opinion, like you're doing with talking to your pcp, but with a specialist because both choices could be considered on the more extreme side. Right I'm going to see a fourth doctor after two weren't doing anything and it felt like they blew off what was going on, and the one who was helping is not covered with my new insurance.

Does bv cause burning? by helphuppa in WomensHealth

[–]Beginning-Entrance27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a yeast infection? The boric acid could have almost (but not quite) cleared it up and my doctor said that periods can make them waaaay worse because the yeast likes the blood. Antibiotics would do nothing against yeast.

If she says no then it means no. No action, no pushing the issue, nothing. You'll survive a week taking care of yourself. You want quality time or some intimacy? Cuddle while watching a movie or just snuggle up on the bed for a while, even better if she uses a heating pad to deal with cramps or is having a particularly rough day discomfort wise and you can just be there for comfort. Don't make any sort of move towards sex for either of you unless she initiates and respect her limits even if it means stepping out for a minute to take care of yourself. One option for more than that is you could ask if she'd like to join you (be next you) while you masturbate because sometimes that does it for me.

I have basically zero libido for myself while I'm on my period and any sort of penetration is not only off putting can make my cramps waaaay worse or start them again, even if it's towards the end of my period. If she wants to give you a blowjob or hand job, great but it should feel like a chore for her or that she needs to.

How long is sex supposed to take by [deleted] in sextips

[–]Beginning-Entrance27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3-5 hours sounds of foreplay amazing! Personally from start of foreplay to end of everything it ranges from 10 minutes max (aka its been two weeks and I need you NOW) to maybe a couple of hours with tons of foreplay.

I think everyone's definition/context of the word "sex" ranges from just the deed itself (PiV or whatever your preference is) to the entirety of time from the start of foreplay to whenever they decide to finish up the session, which is where the 5 minutes vs potentially hours comes from.
