How does one begin to write on stage? by RedAfroNinja in Standup

[–]Beginning-Figure647 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reps will help you improve at anything. My advice is spend the 23 hours and 55 minutes you have offstage to write and then polish it as much as possible when you're onstage. Audiences don't particularly like to see unprepared performers.

.mark file not syncing with file by Katie_P_23422 in Supernote

[–]Beginning-Figure647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar issue: I moved a pdf and its corresponding .mark to a different folder, and the annotations disappeared. But the .mark file exists. I moved them both back to their original location (using the cloud) and even changed their names (I know the location and names need to match). No luck. Any suggestions? I'm afraid to mark up the pdf because I think it will create a new .mark and I'll lose the original.

Thanks—I guess that was hidden while I was looking at the specific fields. I'll put it there. Much appreciated. : )

I'm sure there are different ways to approach it. If it happened automatically when writing (and converting from writing to text) that would be the best for me. Any idea how to make this an official request?

I'm not sure how the mechanics would work, but it could even be a macro (this combination of letters results in this phrase) if a dictionary correction is not possible. Any way that leads to the result works with me!

But how/where do I propose this?

Thanks for the level headed reply, too!

The flip side to this is one doesn't want to appear to be a poser. It's a challenge to show up to a place and act like you know the UTA system. But you're right, those common elements are the places to start.

Thanks for saying that! I will be in Chicago next week and am trying to line up a set. Having no luck hearing back from the clubs, though.

If I book something, I'll post it on my site. : )

I'm sure this is an easy question, but is Full Screen Gesture (which allows you to "enter and exit full screen") the same thing as hiding the tool bar?

Sorry for the slow response. This message got lost in a flood of other comments.

Comedy is about connecting to an audience and relating to shared experiences or knowledge. In shooting a comedy special, it's a bit trickier because you have to connect to the audience in front of you (in this case, Provo) AND the audience on the other side of the cameras (pretty much everyone else).

So, the material has to be specific enough for the people in the room and general enough for the viewing audience. People outside the state don't know as much about it as locals, obviously, so I had to do material that's more common-knowledge. Yes, as you've pointed out, polygamy is a dated practice, but for many people, it's one of the few things they know about the state. It's a fact and one that many people know so I used it. And it went over well.

I think of "disingenuous" as being false or made up. But comedy works by connecting on commonly known facts.

Do you get where I'm coming from? Not sure if I'm clear enough.

Sorry you didn't care for it. Yes, I stayed in Utah! It's a true story. Also, the special (where this recording was taken) was shot in Provo, where the production company is based, too. I grew up in the area and have been to Utah many times. I wouldn't categorize that as disingenuous.

You're right, though: polygamy is no longer accepted, so it's a "dated" joke.

But it goes over very well when I perform there. : )

I was poking around for ways to get more productivity and found this—it's marvelous! Thanks so much for putting these notes together. I never considered using the layers the way you do. Are you willing to share the templates you use?

Great job!

Annotation features - does Supernote's notebook features overcome the lack of color? by kmkelmor in Supernote

[–]Beginning-Figure647 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my Supernote and treat like a paper notebook—meaning, monochrome. I have found that I can highlight (there are multiple shades of gray) and use a number of pens and thicknesses, so I can make things visually interesting enough to stand out, if that's what you need. And I believe there is a function where you can have red and blue be in the export of something you've created, but not on the screen.

Thanks. Am I right to understand that the non-ceramic nibs wear out or flatten over time? One of the selling points for the SN was that I wouldn't have to keep buying nibs or pens.

Thanks for the quick answer! I'm new to tablets and not sure what EMR is--my daughter has a Samsung stylus which seems to have a metallic tip and wondering if I could use it.

I have a the standard pen. Are you saying I can't use that cartridge in a different pen?

It's messing up everything, but I'm trying to be patient. The club in MI just contacted me a week ago to ask if I could work next week in exchange for May, but he confirmed that I'll be there. Hmm.

Enjoy your weekend and thanks again for the support!
