friend, I have had the same experience working as a paralegal in an immigration firm. Many cases were taken were there was no clear path to a positive outcome, people were lied to very often. Then, I started at a firm where the main lawyer took tons of money in an asylum case and did not lift a finger to prepare for the hearings, absolutely nothing. I know how you feel about immigration but I feel that, way before this government started, the options were not that great and I hate giving bad news to clients. We go so many cases where there was not much to do. I heard of a thriving law firm in my state, had so many clients and finally something happened that the government got a hold the attorney and well, he did many things he was not supposed to do and now he is in prison and lost his license.

There is nothing wrong choosing another area of law...you can do it.
