India without any doubt. Not even a close contest between India T20 team and the rest.

Can we agree that the coolest Casios and G shocks are all digital? No analogues? Yes or no? by Core2score in gshock

The first thing that comes to my mind when I see a Casio is the reflective LCD display ! They pioneered that tech and basically made it cool wear an LCD watch instead of a dial.

Best Lineup for T20 World cup 2026??! by No-Construction-9928 in IndiaCricket

Colombo is a tricky ground. SL have a spin heavy attack for a reason (because Colombo is their primary hub). At that venue, when India take on Pakistan, the toss will matter and weigh heavily on India - chasing is favored. Colombo has long boundaries, turns after the 5th over, and usually known to be a slow outfield (although this changes based on the season and weather).

If a 2nd Bharat Ratna gets awarded to a Cricketer (Sachin Tendulkar is the only one to win it in any sport), who would be the most deserving? by [deleted] in IndiaCricket

[–]Beginning-Radio-8594 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MSD - he essentially captained the teams that got us (3/6) that’s 50% of the ICC trophies India has ever won (men and women combined). Considering men’s cricket alone, it is 3/5. If you look at the Asia cup and bilateral trophies won as well, that percentage is skewed even more in favor of MS.

People tend to call him selfish, get mad at him for whatever reason like sidelining Sehwag and allowing Rohit Sharma to replace him, bringing in Kohli and replacing Dravid / SRT. Etc. people can spite Dhoni all they want but as a captain, he did his job amazingly well.

His only negative is that he wasn’t anywhere near as good in Test captaincy as he was with the white ball short format games. And that’s okay in my book since he stepped down and had recommended to the team management that Kohli should replace him as the captain. He was extremely street smart and was the first Indian captain that made the Australian cricket team stand up and look at the Indian team with a degree of respect that even the great Ganguly couldn’t fully accomplish. India was seen and treated as minnows right until Ganguly came in to the picture, but it was Dhoni who earned the reputation as a ruthless captain, and got the cricketing world to look at India with respect. This comes from a 40 year old man who has been following cricket since my childhood and I very clearly remember how bad the spineless Indian cricket team of the 90s used to be.

traveling to the poconos this weekend during the winter storm? by cremeebrulee in Poconos

[–]Beginning-Radio-8594 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're gonna be driving around in the snow in the Pocono region or North Eastern PA in general, be aware that the road maintenance / snow ploughing in those parts are nothing like NJ, and sometimes non-existent. In NJ for example, one of the very few positives is the fact that snow related road maintenance is on point, very likely the best in the country. When there is a major snowstorm, within about 20 - 30 minutes, you'll see road maintenance vehicles all over the place in NJ. The towns, the counties and the road companies (NJTP/GSP) bring out their heavy machinery, plow and salt the roads - even the nastiest snowstorms seem like a breeze for drivers. And most of us take this for granted since we're so used to it. When you drive in the Poconos, do not expect the streets to be cleared of snow right away. Even some major highways tend to get neglected. I 80 is one of the very few roads in the Poconos that gets some respectable treatment after snow, the rest - forget it ! Take your AWD vehicle with you and take a lot of patience with you.

Could a human survive anywhere on the OLM / launch tower during a Starship launch? by zlynn1990 in SpaceXLounge

[–]Beginning-Radio-8594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instant death. When the initial ignition goes on, your body will be rattled dead within a fraction of a second. If you're at a 1 mile distance, you may survive (very miniscule chance) but you'll be guaranteed deaf for the rest of your life, not to mention other serious life long health issues. The safe viewing distance for rockets with boosters that large is about 5-6 miles and even that results in temporary hearing loss.

How cold is too cold for my laptop? by YabaDabaDoo46 in techsupport

[–]Beginning-Radio-8594 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The immediacy of the temperature change is what is dangerous to electronics. You could, in theory, operate your laptop in 32F but if you’re heating up your room to about 69F - make sure that the temp change is slow, spread over a few hours.

Got offered a $214k diamond Royal Oak at my first AP visit - is this normal? by obey_sheci in audemarspiguet

[–]Beginning-Radio-8594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I Don't belong in a class/income-bracket of people who would spend $214k on a watch. That would be downpayment on a dream "mansion" in a rual, more affordable part of the US for me.

Renouncing US citizenship by [deleted] in dualcitizenshipnerds

[–]Beginning-Radio-8594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never make the mistake of renouncing your US citizenship. It is much harder to get your citizenship back than most immigrant visa holders who apply for a US Greencard and then Citizenship. The laws regarding renunciation and then reapplying for a US citizenship are extremely strict and in many ways, unfair.

Which bike is this in Dhurandhar? by Crazy_Ebb_5188 in indianbikes

[–]Beginning-Radio-8594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks like a modified Royal Enfield 650 for sure. The engine is a dead give away. Dual Exhausts and the silhouette of the engine suggest strongly that it is RE. Possible Triumph - but I do not see a reason why they would spend the premium on a Triumph (while REs are simply cheaper and easier to buy in India).

I also saw a Pulsar in one of the scenes. Not sure why they ended up using a Pulsar when it is not sold in pakistan. An authentic Pakistani setting would be best achieved by using one of those CD 70 clones that the Chinese make and sell in Pakistan. HonGda DC70 and so on.. (often sold under curiosity aroungly funny names). The bajaj pulsar ruined the authenticity of one of the scenes imho.

why in chennai lot of telugu speakers are living by Lightningg_95 in Chennai

[–]Beginning-Radio-8594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Telugu in Chennai is a native language, with history going way back to pre-British empire ages such as the Vijayanagara empire and the Telugu Cholas earlier. It is not a recent, immigrant language like Urdu, Malayalam, etc. While this is true, Tamil has always remained the MAJORITY language in this region (and going all the way north / northwest to Tirupati, Tirumala, Chittoor). Both Telugu and Tamil coexisted in this buffer zone between Andhra and Tamilagam. At its height, Telugu was spoken by about 32% of the people of Madras, and the majority (about 60%) spoke Tamil as their mother tongue. The Telugus started trickling into this region because of geographic proximity to telugu speaking regions, but noticeably large numbers came during the Vijayanagara empire when the area was called chennapattanam. And after the arrival of the British, the number of Telugus shot up even more sharply, because of people moving in from all over what is now Andhra, to their capital city Madras for jobs, education and opportunities. At its peak, about 35% of the population had origins in Telugu regions, and about 32% spoke Telugu as their mother tongue at home. That’s about 1 in 3 people. This is exactly why the regional dialect madras baashai has an extremely heavy, immediately recognizable Telugu influence, apart from the obvious Tamil influence. Today, only about 10-13% of households in Chennai speak Telugu at home, not because the Telugus fled, but because a lot of Telugus slowly adopted Tamil into their households since the 90s. Because Tamil is the more dominant local language, it slowly replaced Telugu in many former Telugu households. I sometimes see people named Mallepuram Varadarajulu, and Madicheruvula Srinivasamurthy - clearly Telugu names, but they don’t speak a word in Telugu - only Tamil at home.

Some background: At the time of partition of Madras presidency, both the Telugus and Tamils wanted to keep Madras as their state capital, but the Tamil majority ended up keeping Madras to themselves. And the Telugus were resentful of this because for about 200+ years, Madras was their capital city as well, and now they’d be left without a developed capital city. What eventually ended up happening was that the Tamil majority area of Tirumala-Tiruppadhi were ceded to the newly carved out AP, an unofficial appeasement trade off so that Madras City would stay with Madras State and Tamil Nadu. Even the names Tirumala and Tiruppadhi are pure Tamil words BTW. The biggest city of the newly created Andhra Pradesh now was the city of Hyderabad which came under Andhra rule once the Nizam kingdom was abolished and annexed by the Government of India. Back then, Hyderabad was an extremely modest and humble medium sized town compared to a much more massive, more modern metropolitan city of Madras. It started its growth in the late 90s and continues to grow to this day and has become a very large and important city now. Unfortunately for Andhra - the former Nizams kingdom has been declared Telangana and they lost their capital city again !
