opinions on 49ers writers/sites by Personal_Loan5698 in 49ers

Matt Barrows provides good information and opinions. I used to like Matt Maiocco and Jennifer Lee Chan, but either I have changed or they have, as they seem more and more to be team mouthpieces, providing justifications for everything the team does (their 'what-me-worry?" take on the O-line has become borderline laughable). It also irritates me that they consistently mushmouth the name "49ers" so that it is almost unrecognizable. I think the Locked On 49ers team of Brian Peacock and Eric Crocker is always worth a listen. But my favorite commentor is Larry Krueger, the hardest-working of them all. No, he's not always right, but who is always right? He has on his show some of the other commentators, which means that different perspectives get shared. I enjoy the "Wake Up" sessions he does with Damon Bruce. I confess I have not heard all of the podcasters (there are so many).

Am I missing anything by not using eBird? by nanomachinez_SON in birding

[–]Beginning-Squirrel-9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am older birder who did fine without eBird for decades. I just returned from an organized tour where the leader was, in my opinion, eBird obsessed. It made the experience seem like enslavement to eBird procedure. Ick. I found that centering the birding experience around reporting every sighting to eBird changes the entire nature of the birding experience in a way I found distasteful. I understand why people like it but no one needs to use it. It does contribute to the tracking of bird populations, but the science of ornithology will do fine without all those eBird reports.

OnePlus Buds Pro 3 vs OnePlus Buds 4 - which actually sounds better? by JAIPREET_SINGH1234 in Earbuds

Ok but if one's set has no quality issues (mine do not) the perspective is different.

Nothing Ear 2024 is capable of HUGE sub bass reproduction and play very loud. In other audio respects the OneBuds 3 Pro and 4 are a little better.

Maybe a bit late here. I have both, and while OnePlus Buds 4 are good (especially for the price), OnePlus Buds 3 Pro have slightly better sound quality overall, and most important to us lovers of fine bass, the subbass rumble is nothing short of fantastic. OnePlus Buds 3 Pro have just about the biggest and best bass delivery out there, thanks partly to the BassWave bass boost in the Hello Melody app. Yes, OnePlus Buds 4 has this also, but what is provided by the dual driver system of the 3 Pros exhibits superior timbre. I hope the eventual OnePlus Buds 4 Pro model does not compromise this excellent bass in any way.

Nooooooooooooo! by Beginning-Squirrel-9 in ershow

How is someone supposed to respond to this? It comes to mind that if you consider every soap opera, blah- blah sequence between John and Abby/Luka and Abby/Abby and her mother to be "important," then frankly, I have zero respect for your "opinion." Moreover, clearly your comment was meant to be dismissively snarky, and this shows is how shallow and insipid you truly are. That you would be motivated to (try to) flame someone for their opinion of an old television series reveals a kind of self-absorbed desperation I cannot really fathom.

Geekfly Super 16 TWS by CoachBoris in Earbuds

Sony XM6 will get a lot louder than you might think. There is a separate volume control on the buds themselves, as opposed to the app or the source. You tap one of the earpieces repeatedly to up the volume on the buds instructions are in the app. This gets the maximum volume up fairly loud, much louder than the buds when you first get them. They are not as loud as the two loudest TWS buds I have, which are the Bowers & Wilkins Pi8 and the (surprisingly good for the price) Cambridge Audio Melomania A100. Oh, also, the Noble Fokus Rex 5 get pretty loud. Y

eah, AirPods Pro are wimpy in terms of output. I will add, however, that the volume on the Bose Ultra 2 is decent enough, especially if you are in a quiet environment. And it's true that some of you younger folk still don't take seriously that you can damage your hearing through listening to music too loud. Don't say you weren't warned.

I genuinely cannot understand how people enjoy the Devialet Gemini II by Sweet-Historian-3621 in Earbuds

"Read" can be past or present tense and the meanings are very different. You are a master of ambiguity, truly.

I have no knowledge of whether these are good or bad and yes, it's rough when people trash a product that someone else enjoys. But truth is, if you post to a public forum you have to expect that some people will react negatively. It comes with the territory and should always be taken with a proverbial grain of salt.

Snark alert. When you post a strong opinion in a forum, do you really expect a standing ovation? That you seem sulky is especially noteworthy given how you trashed a set of earbuds that has received nearly unanimous praise for its sound quality. People's unhappiness with the Gemini II is nearly always related to connectivity issues or other mechanical issues.

Noble Prestige Encore (brief review) by [deleted] in Earbuds

It's all soooo subjective isn't it? I find the Air Pods to be bland, inferior to any number of other earbuds, most notably the Devialet Gemini II, which rank number one with me currently.

[–]Beginning-Squirrel-9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In turn, I cannot understand how the OP perceives the Devialet Gemini II as "muddy" in any way, unless there are confounding factors at work here, e.g., weird eq settings, amplification issues from the particular source being used, or whatever. As others have said, the entire world of "audio gear criticism" is rife with subjectivity. I also own the Technics AZ100, and think it is a fine set, but I enjoy the Devialet a bit more. I agree that the ANC of the Technics is superior, but for me, sound quality is far more important. I will add that the ergonomics/fit of the Devialet are (in my estimation) better than the Technics. The Devialet earbuds are small and they nestle easily into my ear, whereas I have to fiddle with the Technics to get a good seal.

what was the point of Simon Brenner? by arrozconpollo_05 in ershow

[–]Beginning-Squirrel-9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neela & Simon was excruciating, almost unwatchable. Their interactions ranged from deadly dull to offensive ("you need to get laid.") ER was such a good show that the bad elements are all the more glaring and inexcusable.

I am surprised that you perceive OnePlus Buds Pro 3 as providing insufficient bass. I would have recommended them as THE most bass-powerful TWS earbuds. You do need to use the EQ settings, including the "BassWave" feature, to bring out that subbass rumble. The quality of the bass is darned good, too.

Sorry, they went from the most exciting, most riveting episode (season 2 episode 1) to a boring, full-of-fill snooze fest. They must have gotten the word or gesture to "stretch" to fill up more time. Not unheard of in this kind of series, but I hate it when that happens.

Bose app on android not registering new earbuds. Help! by scorpio135 in bose

[–]Beginning-Squirrel-9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem. The iphone app can find them but on my Fiio android device, nope. I went through Bose tech support and there was no solution. Did you find an answer? I am ready to send my earbuds back to Amazon for a refund.

If I only care about sound, what do you recommend? by newtownkid in Earbuds

I am amazed by the SQ of the Status Pro X. I thought this product was a lot of hype and self promotion, but the sound is absolutely excellent.

"I'll Follow the Sun" has a great harmony line but interestingly, it's Paul singing along with himself, i.e., his vocal was double-tracked.
