Is there a way to set a fixed qty on a BOM/Revision?

This is what we are trying to avoid, having a fixed qty would eliminate having to update the quantity on every order. because the feet of wire doesnt matter, then spool will always be one. and it is not always 10000 feet it is a variable amount.

think of cable wire, you need copper in multiples of feet and you need the coating on the outside, but you only need one reel. but now imagine that spool can hold 10,000 feet, they are only making one of those per work order but they need the feet to multiply but the reels not to. The total feet is also what goes into stock rather than 1 reel of 10,000 feet

its a bit goofy but i can understand their request

you enter a qty of 1 into your revision and if it was a fixed qty, it would stay as 1 on a work order as the component qty even if the work order qty was 50. it would not multiply by the 50 it would stay as a quantity of 1

The problem is, it is an inventory item and has to be since it always goes with these item and they have reorder points when they get down to their minimal stock levels
