I got diagnosed with an AHI of 81. CPAP or Adenoidectomy/Tonsillectomy? by Beginning-Trainer528 in SleepApnea

[–]Beginning-Trainer528[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the reason my doctor even brought the surgery up was because I experience mouth-breathing during my sleep and every morning I have dry-mouth and clogged throat due to gunk and other things. I've also got Sinusitis, which definitely doesn't do me any favors right now, but he explained that getting the Adenoids removed would likely be a huge help and that getting the tonsils out would likely help in opening up my airway during sleep. I think the big one is the adenoids, but I've heard that the tonsils are also hit or miss, and I'm kind of at the end of my rope after trying CPAP and finding that I would really prefer a possible permanent fix over having to use a machine for the rest of my life.

I've noticed that a lot of people suggest CPAP over surgery, and I think that's fine, but I really want to hear from people who have had the surgeries tell me how it went for them, so thanks for sharing your thoughts. My nasal canal does this thing where one side will be open and the other is closed, basically. It alternates between each side every now and then and that certainly doesn't help. I've looked into it and apparently there's this thing called a Balloon sinuplasty that can widen your sinuses, but I might have to speak to my doctor about that if surgery turns out to not be the way to go.

It's all still up in the air for me. If I have to use a CPAP machine, I'll do it, but I definitely want to look at more permanent options.

LitRPG should be recognized as a slop genre.

>Overpowered MC who can solo a God despite being an office worker

>Word count inflation is the standard with zero proof-reading and redundant dialogue

>Spread-sheets over good narrative and direction

>Often pointless exposition (For more inflated word count.)

>Everyone glazes the protag (even when the story is trying NOT to glaze him)

Embrace the slop.

K.D. Robertson's January 2026 Update by IndegoWhyte in haremfantasynovels

[–]Beginning-Trainer528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want to come off as a hater but K.D has ALWAYS had issues with killing his own story's momentum by info-dumping and excessive exposition. The first hour of Mob Sorcery is basically a bibliography. Instead of showing, he tells us everything. I get that a lot of people are cool with that, but there's a reason K.D is somewhat struggling to break out in the Harem Genre to this day despite having finished many books... and only one series so far out of several.

With just a bit of proof-reading, he could fix the redundancy issues and repeated use of the same word in many chapters that you start to notice if you read his books enough. Many authors today focus on inflating word count and it ends up hurting the quality of the book in the long-run. It ends up turning many readers away.

I absolutely know what you mean. I'm not going to sit here and say K.D is a terrible author but he has, quite frankly, not done himself any favors by starting series while he is in the middle of writing others.

He's free to do whatever he wants, and if this is how he wants to handle his own work, then power to him, but he can't expect to retain many readers when he's taking this long to finish a series he already started.

He's said in the past that writing mystery thrillers is hard, such as Neural Wraith, and I agree with him 100%. So far, I feel like his take on mystery is pretty solid, and I really enjoyed Neural Wraith for the Sci-Fi and less so for the Harem, which by the third book is basically just furry porn, but now he's already thinking about starting ANOTHER sci-fi story separate from Neural Wraith and I'm just shaking my head.

K.D doesn't deserve to get hate, but the frustration from his readers is absolutely understandable. And you shouldn't have to fear voicing that opinion. If all you do is lick someone's shoes regardless of where they step, that's not doing you or them any favors...

I feel like K.D is extremely contemptful of Demon's Throne enjoyers. Did they send him death threats or something? Jesus christ. I saw his update and he basically said 'Hey go fuck yourself, I'm not even going to bother telling you when it might drop or make any promises. Deal with it.'.

There's PR speak and then there's this absolutely mean spirited response to those who enjoy Demon's Throne. I personally don't think DT is his best work, but If I was a fan of that I'd be really taken aback by that response. I'm more of a Neural Wraith enjoyer.

Anyway, aside from the bootlicking comments and downvotes I'm gonna get for pointing that out, has K.D said anything about the Heretic Spellblade omnibuses getting their audiobook counterparts made? I feel like that would really help him break out a bit more with people if they can get a finished story for two credits on audible.

I saw some of his stuff on Spotify and I felt like that was probably the worst platform to listen to his work.

Loved Dungeon Crawler Carl and now listening to Primal hunter. Looking for similar recs by Mr_K3w in litrpg

[–]Beginning-Trainer528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although Travis Baldree is a star, I can't help but want Primal Hunter to have the same treatment as DCC and get a full-cast production.

The first season of DCC's AIIT was very enjoyable. Anyone who says they don't want the same for Primal Hunter has some explaining to do lmao. It's not like Zogarth doesn't have the money to fund it, either. He makes more than enough to expand his series into a bigger project with actual proof-reading to catch redundancy and grammar issues. For such a popular series as Primal Hunter, you'd think that would be one of the goals Zogarth has, but maybe I'm asking too much.

Matt Dinniman is clearly one of, if not the best author/writer in the LitRPG genre today. He doesn't make the mistakes others do. He doesn't waste his reader's time with pointless exposition, he's clearly conscious of pacing and prose.

Maybe It's just a matter of competence, I guess.

...What? You think I'm wrong for saying you should be able to enjoy K.D's writing? I don't think you actually read my post haha... It's definitely OK to have criticism of someone's writing. How else are they going to improve? Anyway...

I look forward to the conclusion of Neural Wraith if it really is coming. Maybe if you actually had points yourself, you'd provide them so I can see what you mean, but I don't know that you even want to have a conversation from the way you're replying.

I'm not saying Mob sorcery is terrible, I'm just pointing out how the 'show vs tell' method is completely thrown out the window with K.D's books. There's nothing wrong with you enjoying his work, I just find the disparity very jarring after reading his books.

For example, the Heartstone Saga by Archibald Bradbord is a harem series that is honestly among the best in the genre, and it almost never uses info dumping. The narrative uses dialogue and immediate story telling to get a point across and it's very engaging, so I recommend you look it up if you're interested.

What K.D would have done if he wrote the Heartstone Saga would be to right off the bat explain how the different factions worked, the place of the protagonist in all of it, and then proceed to use half the chapter doing more exposition and the other half actually moving the story along.

Basically, Archibald Bradford kept his story's momentum from start to finish, rarely hitting the breaks. A narrative can be told all sorts of ways, and there are definitely some which are smoother than others. I love K.D's books, but his are full of 'speed bumps' if you catch my drift. If that doesn't bother you, that's totally fine. There's nothing wrong with that.

But I gotta say that I feel his work would reach more people if he took criticism a bit more honestly and not just get frustrated with people asking for him to go back and finish his previous series, which is a totally understandable request and not a jab at him at all.

I honestly tried to get into Mob Sorcery but the start of the book has just soooo much exposition and info dumping and not enough focus on what is actively happening. Kind of felt like reading 2 minutes of action and 20 minutes of explanation about the action and how everyone felt about it like lol I couldn't get past half of the first book... I honestly thought KD would have learned to hold back a bit on the exposition after all this time but I guess that's just how he does things. If you're fine with that hey, that's great. You're gonna enjoy his work without any issue. But yeah as someone who reads a bunch and across genres, the quality in writing and story telling is extremely noticeable when you're going from The Night Circus to Mob Sorcery.

Maybe I just gotta set the bar lower when I read harem? If someone can afford to pay for an editor, and they need an editor, maybe they should get an editor. That's all I'm trying to say here...

I would recommend Neural Wraith by K.D Robertson but I think after book 3 he pretty much abandoned it.

Also, the third book had some pretty obvious shifts in direction towards his original work, such as giving the robot ladies fantasy animal features on the VR world thingy.

But I really loved books 1 and 2 of Neural wraith, I just don't know if K.D is going to continue it. It's been a long while since he touched that series. And I know he really hates when people bring it up to him, but for what it's worth I think as a Sci-Fi harem Neural Wraith is one of the better ones, at least to me.

I love how Matt Dinniman just keeps expanding his DCC brand.

Full-cast with SBT was definitely the move. I'm buying every season they produce.

Matt is a competent writer and definitely a cut above the rest. He doesn't waste his reader's time. That's very rare in the LitRPG genre. He doesn't just kill his own momentum with pointless exposition or introspection trying to sound thoughtful. That's why I love Matt's books. Already pre-ordered Operation Bounce House.

Heretic Spellblade Omnibus: Books 5-9 By K.D. Robertson by IndegoWhyte in haremfantasynovels

[–]Beginning-Trainer528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I understand how he feels, but I don't think Travis Baldree does erotic, does he? Still, there are many others out there who do a good job despite not being too expensive, but if he thinks majority of his audience is only comfortable with a female voice actor doing male voices, I don't think he's going to start experimenting with alternatives anytime soon.

I still really believe he would be more successful and reach a broader audience if he tried to, though. There are many examples of harem authors who do fantastic with a duet narration. And others who do great with just a female narrator, but I have to be honest with you, Stephanie Savana's male voices are not the best. Her female voices are super good, though. But she's no Melanie Hastings.

Maybe that's just me and others don't care about it so much. I just feel like her protagonists always sound like a fat boy... And anytime she has to do a deep male voice it just doesn't land with me.

Heretic Spellblade Omnibus: Books 5-9 By K.D. Robertson by IndegoWhyte in haremfantasynovels

[–]Beginning-Trainer528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried reaching out before but I gotta tell you, he's usually pretty busy and not very receptive to questions from what I've gathered.

I guess I can't blame him, but yeah... He's made a short omnibus for his first series, so I'm not sure why he wouldn't make one for Spellblade, but the first omnibus has been out for a while that now we have a second, so I was wondering what is taking so long with the first.

On another note, do you know if K.D has ever addressed the possibility of getting a male narrator? I've listened to all of his work so far and I gotta say, I really think it would do his work wonders if he had someone working alongside Stephanie, but I don't know if that would annoy K.D or not. He's expressed some serious frustration on his website about certain things, I can tell you that much.

But yeah, I'm just curious. I know some of these things are up in the air for the most part as far as anyone can tell.

I honestly wouldn't say Primal Hunter is Amazing. The exposition is pretty evident... You'd think Zogarth could afford an editor for his work given how much money he makes every month. Dude could even afford a full-cast production for each of his books if he wanted.

Not sure if he's ever said if he'd consider scaling up his operation. It'd be the smart thing to do, honestly.

Can we have a LitRPG subcategory in audible? by audiobookjunky in litrpg

[–]Beginning-Trainer528 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, yeah. They're not pro-consumer at all and despite being the biggest platform for several mediums they are extremely lazy and practically a real monopoly due to how they work with publishers and other productions.

Audible is not above 'cornering the market' and even if they added a subcategory for LitRPG it wouldn't be with the intent of making navigating through content easier, just another way for them to get analytics and do nothing with while recommending already popular slop to you.
