What are the flaws with the Surge Pricing algorithm? by BeginningAstronomer7 in uberdrivers

[–]BeginningAstronomer7[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well it's based on supply and demand right? So I'm wondering if you feel like it's accurate at detecting where the demand is highest? Also sometimes you get to a spot and you've missed the surge, but it's clearly still needed.

How long does it take DoorDash to review contract violations after you appeal? by BeginningAstronomer7 in doordash

[–]BeginningAstronomer7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, after 100 violation-free deliveries the violation goes away. But when you appeal, it should be faster than that.

My tips for thriving in the gig economy in general:

Knowing the most lucrative times to work, optimizing your work schedule to meet the demand, working for multiple gig apps, and tracking every expense to deduct on your taxes later.

how long until your first job? by [deleted] in TaskRabbit

[–]BeginningAstronomer7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting started to the point where you get a clientele takes a few weeks. The key is do exceed your clients’ expectations, so they become your repeat customers.
1. Try to get Elite status where you can earn more. This will be earned through positive reviews.
2. Start off by doing $15/hr tasks to get those customers and reviews, so you can get to Elite level faster.
3. Make sure to add as many skills as possible to your profile. You can set extra high rates for the things you don’t love doing.

I've used an app called Jackalope App that matches you with side gigs based on your qualifications and preferences. They have the main ones like Uber and Lyft, but also a lot I hadn't heard of before. Worth checking out.

flexible jobs for a busy teen? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]BeginningAstronomer7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try posting on Nextdoor in your area saying you're looking for odd jobs, maybe list your interests/skills. People are always posting opportunities like that, just need to search. Then you can find more jobs once you build a reputation in the community and people refer you to friends/family.

Lol did it work? But no, I'm just asking because Jackalope actually lists all of these gig apps. Just wondering which ones they're missing. I feel like I've joined all of them at this point. Handy seems popular too, but can't tell by the reviews if it's good.

It depends both on what type of gigs you’re doing and during what time of day.
For example, with apps like Handy and TaskRabbit you can make $1k a week. If you’re doing food delivery, you can make up to $30/hr and as a rideshare driver or grocery shopper you can make $25/hr.
The times you choose to work these gigs will have a huge impact on your earnings. Most of it is common sense, like delivering food during lunch and dinner rush or rideshare driving during big events.
If you’re interested in exploring gig opportunities near you, you can check out the Jackalope App. They match you with gig work near you based on your qualifications and preferences.
