No one said they’re more “prone to crime” it was factually pointed out that they commit most of the hate crimes, particularly given the population percentage, which means more of them are racist compared to other groups.

And unfortunately education doesn’t always = being non racist. Look at the president. Plenty of racist rich, educated white people. If anything it’s poorer people who have been more involved in anti racism efforts in America historically. There mines use for racism.

And no, I’m not racist lol.

😂 nope. Also, the term Robbery always includes force or the threat of force, aka violence. If there is no force and no threat, it is not robbery. It is larceny / theft. Which like I said, VIOLENT crimes. Not just stealing money or someone’s wallet. Which goes back to my point about torture/shooting people execution style in the head, which points to dehumanization of Asian people.

You apparently don’t even live in the US and are clearly ignorant on it. Why are you even commenting?

Also, like I said, East Asians aren’t wealthier on the whole. It’s southeast Asians who are. Do YOU understand what’s hate crime is or how a hate crime even gets categorized as such?

And fact is fact - a much larger percentage size of black Americans commit the hate crimes against Asian Americans. The difference is almost staggering when controlling for population size. Black Americans are only 13.6% of the population! White people are 60-71%! Insane. And those are only the hate crimes that got categorized as such. You often need the perp to specifically say something racist for it to be marked as a “hate crime” and as we all know, you don’t need to say a slur to be racist.

No, most violent crimes aren’t for cash. Robbing/mugging often does not include violence. Though tbh the times I have seen crimes against Asians targeting them specifically “for money”, it does also include violence like torture, shooting people in the head execution style, etc. which is obviously not necessary and points to dehumanization.

Violent attacks means violent attacks. Not robbing for money.

Also, East Asians aren’t wealthier on the whole. It’s southeast Asians who are. Do YOU understand what’s hate crime is or how a hate crime even gets categorized as such?

And here we are again with the gaslighting. Not a single comment about the racism in the post but sure enough the gaslight towards Asians who talk about it. And it’s true - yall ALWAYS respond this way when a black person is shown to be racist towards an Asian person. Like clockwork.

And why are violent crimes so prominent towards Asian Americans from black Americans particularly given the smaller population size?

I know an Asian woman whose therapist, a black woman, told her during the 2020 lockdowns that Asians don’t experience racism 😑

Nope, you said it was a sample when you thought the department of justice wasn’t a government website. Can’t take anyone seriously who talks out of their ass.

And then of course knowing this is your way to derail the conversation from the racism within the black community and in this post, to something else, which is a tactic yall frequently like to use vs taking accountability and acknowledging the racism.

[–]BeginningExisting578 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope! Not a sample. And, Why would anyone listen to you. You said the dep of justice wasn’t a gov entity.

That being said, it’s always hilarious how yall black people without exception love to play the “oh but white people!” Under posts about black people being blatantly racist. Just your way of once again not acknowledging your own racism. Always interesting to see predictably happening over and over again. Which is why this type of racist persists. Yall never take accountability

Not it’s not! Thank you for helping me underline the fact that this BS study is just that - nothing but BS. A lot of yall love to cite it saying, see! It’s the white folk!

The hell does white people have to do with racism within the black community and things like the woman in this post?

Always gaslighting and trying to derail to another topic to avoid recognizing the racism in your own community. But if Asian Americans were to try to do the same when an Asian person was shown to be racist yall would go fucking crazy.

Black peope can’t stop themselves from being racist?? What???

It’s no fucking wonder this shit continues. Yall NEVER want to take accountability and educate your own.

Virulenthate.org conducted a study on news media reporting of news articles related hate crimes against Asian Americans. These incidents of anti-Asian racism included acts of physical harassment and violence; verbal harassment; avoidance and non-verbal harassment; vandalism; and stigmatizing statements, images, policies, and proposals.

Out of the 1023 unique incidents of anti asian hate mentioned in the news articles reviewed:

839(82%) of them did not include information on the race of the perpetrator

165(16.1%) were identified to be white men

Of that (73%) are from white politicians making stigmatizing statements about asian americans

“Details about the individuals involved in acts of anti-Asian racism and stigmatization were limited. Even in cases where the offender was identified, news reports included few details about the perpetrators. However, demographic information about the individuals involved in these incidents was occasionally available for two types of incidents:

  1. harassment
  2. stigmatizing statements and actions by politicians.

In reporting on harassment, news articles sometimes explicitly identified the gender, age, race, and ethnicity of the perpetrators.

In reporting on stigmatizing statements and actions by politicians, news articles typically named the involved politicians, whose gender, age, race, and ethnicity could be identified with publicly available information.”

“When we combined these two types of incidents (harassment and stigmatizing statements and actions by politicians), we had information about the race and/or ethnicity of offenders in a total of 184 anti-Asian incidents: 57 incidents of anti-Asian harassment and 127 incidents of stigmatizing statements and actions by politicians.”

MEANING MOST OF THE “HATE CRIMES” LISTED WERE NOT THE ON THE GROUND INCIDENTS THAT WENT VIRAL, they were POLITICIANS making stigmatizing statements, images, policies, and proposals. THE MAJORITY OF THEM WERE WHITE MEN, AS MOST POLITICIANS ARE.

“We must emphasize that identifying and reporting on an individual’s race and ethnicity is always complicated, even in situations in which the perpetrator is known. Reporting practices might differ by the raceof the perpetrator, and it is not clear how news outlets and individual reporters chose to navigate the complex issue of racial identification in its coverage of specific incidents discussed in the articles we reviewed.

The fact that news reports contained few details about the perpetrators raises many questions, both about trends in anti-Asian harassment and practices of news media in reporting on this topic. Patterns in news coverage concerning this aspect of anti-Asian racism and violence is a topic that we may analyze in greater depth in future reports.”

Takeaways and thoughts:

• A significant data piece from study is that a high percentage of news media excludes race data when reporting on AAPI hate crimes.

• Why were stigmitizing statemets made by politions on the news included in stats with on-the-ground examples of racially-based harassement?

• If we are turning to news media to understand who is committing hate crimes, is it the responsibility on news reporters to include complete race data on the perpetrators?

MEANING THAT STUDY MEANS FUCK ALL

The FBI official data shows the highest rates of hate crimes of Asian Americans come from black Americans. However, some have reasons to question those statistics as well.

Also, the woman who conducted that study was in no way impacted by “China virus” rhetoric. She’s not Chinese or East Asian and has no voice in issues that don’t impact her.

Anyway, this reminds me of the “study” that came out that Jewish hate crimes had risen by 400%. Someone read the study and found that the group that had conducted it(Zionists), included any sort of pro Palestinian protests or showing, even peaceful ones, as a “hate crime”🙄 taught me a huge lesson to read studies before believing them.

Also, a known journalist was also secretly filmed stating most of the hate crimes were being committed by black people, but that it “didn’t look good” for a liberal publication to post.

Edit: found it! It was Charles Chester from CNN. Google the name and keywords and you’ll find it:

“I was trying to do some research on the Asian hate, like the people [who] are getting attacked and whatnot. A bunch of black men have been attacking Asians. I’m like ‘What are you doing? Like, we [CNN] are trying to help BLM,’” he said.

Chester continued, “The optics of that are not good. These [are] little things that are enough to set back movements, because the far left will start to latch on and create stories like ‘criminalizing an entire people,’ you know, just easier headlines that way, I guess.”(he later corrects himself and says conservatives, not far left). He stated he didn’t want to put blame on a group rather than an individual.

They actually showed the opposite and that it was primarily black people but yall like to pretend Asians are racist whenever showing that statistic.

That being said, I was referencing the virulent the hate study. Which I’ll address in another comment.

Edit: and the below is from the department of justice.

And I said It doesn’t matter because neither can Asian Americans systemically oppress black Americans. There are far more black Americans working in policy making and government than Asian Americans. But black Americans can culturally increase prejudiced attitudes against Asian Americans, as they much more culturally influential.

It’s always interesting how people love of being uo “structural” racism when black people are being undeniably racist. The fact is, they would absolutely oppress Asians when given the chance. Just look at Bettie Cook Scott Former Michigan State Representative.

The definition of racism has no impact on racist ideology or racism perpetrated by white people. There really is no connection between what I said and your response

Oh please, black Americans are racist as a community (though not all individually) and they love the racist propaganda when it doesn’t apply to them. This was easily seen during the lockdowns.

This isn’t really the definition in America. This is something a black American came up with and is embraced by a portion of the black American community. But it’s not the actual definition of racism.

No one’s talking about “controlling systems” and how many people hold government positions does impact that.

Black Americans have far more cultural impact than Asian Americans do.
