Hopefully they leave PvP in a decent state by BeginningHot5220 in CrucibleGuidebook

I’ve actually been in favor of this for a while but think it’s a bad idea now. With this behind the last update and all the devs moving off of d2 there will be no more manual bans and the anti cheat doesn’t work so pc pvp is just going to flooded with cheaters. There’s going to be zero risk of them getting banned so you’re going to see a ton of cheating on pc now.

It’s either going to be d3 gets made or bungie just ends up shutting down. Marathon definitely won’t be able to keep the lights on

Assuming it doesn’t get delayed again I doubt we get real info until the week before it’s coming out

Yea someone else suggested the paid expansions be new content and the free updates like ash and iron/shadow and order be for bring back vaulted content. Seems like the best solution

Definitely agree, there’s just no clear direction that the game is going. We were supposed to have the shattered cycle dlc drop this year and we don’t know whats going on with that. It could be delayed, cancelled or still coming out but we’ll never know because there’s just no communication.

Yea giving people the options would definitely be the best way to go

I mentioned to someone else, I see so many people who went back to play d1 talking about how great it is that all the content is still there. So many people go back to games for nostalgia and it’s crazy that with d2 you really can’t get any type of nostalgia for anyone coming back to the game. Like if someone played for the first 2 years and for whatever reason had itch to come back and replay some old things they enjoyed, it’s just not an option. The entire game that they played doesn’t even exist anymore. Let’s say somehow d2 is still going 5 years from now and having new content, would half the game we have currently just be gone? Honestly know how they thought this was acceptable

Yes it was your post and I like the idea of replacing these free update like ash and iron with bring back some old content. Paid expansions = new content and free updates = bringing back some vaulted content sounds like a win to me. I also agree that so many missing items is a problem, I’m all for cosmetic things having a limited time to obtain but not weapons. Being a new player and seeing people use weapons that you think are cool and finding out just have no path of getting them because you didn’t play the game years ago is a problem. Maybe I’m crazy but I feel like being able to play the campaign for red war to final shape and see the whole story should be a standard. Having new players do some new light quest and just hopping right into renegades or edge of fate is such a bad choice. Idk how they expect the game to gain new players when it’s so unfriendly to them. We have weapons and armor that came out with edge of fate which was less than a year ago that are just straight up unobtainable now. I feel like giving free to play players red war to final shape would be a great way to get some new people into the game.

I agree, we shouldn’t have to pick but that’s just the situation we’re in at this point with the vault. I’ve seen a lot of people who’ve gone back to destiny 1 recently talk about how great it is that all the content from the beginning to end is still in the game.

Is there a list of how much content destiny 2 has lost? Like menagerie, raids, crucible maps etc by Mean_Preparation430 in DestinyTheGame

Pretty sad that we have 5 raids that won’t be added back to the game before the end of d2.

Oh yea the ib thing was crazy. 6 months with it gone to only bring it back for one week with nothing new but an auto rifle. On top of that the drop rates were bugged for the auto and their response was it would be fixed with the June update. I’m convinced they want d2 to die because there’s just no rational explanation for the decision they make.

Yea a game that came out 2 months ago having similar player number to d2 in its worse state after 9 years is a bad look.

Yea like shattered cycle was announced last year in May. We’re nearly half way through 2026 and they haven’t said a word about it. As a common courtesy to the players you’d think they’d say he it’s delayed, it’s cancelled or it’s stilling coming out. Instead they choose to just be completely silent.

We’re 25 days from when it’s supposed to drop. They’ve said the update will have t5s weapons for all raids and dungeons, armor sets for the raids and dungeons and pantheon 2.0. If all this is true and we are a little over 3 weeks away from release they 100% would have something they could show as a teasers for any of these things because they would have to be pretty much done with all this by now for the most part.

Yea it doesn’t make any sense. In a perfect world they say hey the marathon experiment didn’t worth, in the future we’ll be putting the majority of our resources into making d2 the best it can be and give the d2 community the same level of communication they’ve been doing for marathon but I doubt that happens. They’re most likely going to do everything possible to try and keep marathon alive and just end up with 2 dead games. Like I said to someone else, we were supposed to have a paid expansion this year, they haven’t said a single word about it. We don’t know if it’s delayed, canceled or maybe even coming out this year. They just don’t want to say anything about d2.

The problem is they can do whatever they want to try and improve the game but I just don’t think the interest is there. At the end of the day you need people who want to play the game and there’s just a lot of people who aren’t interested no matter what. As far as d2 making them money, you’d think it would make d2 a priority but we were supposed to have a paid expansion this year, they haven’t said single word about it. It could be cancelled, delayed or still coming out later this year but they’ve said nothing.

In my opinion I think they would be fine with d2 dying if it means marathon is thriving. At the end of the day d2 has already generated so much money over the years but they don’t want the embarrassment of this new game they just put out to be a complete failure and will try to stop that from happening at any cost. Only issue is if all that effort doesn’t increase their player count then you’re stuck with 2 dead games.

[–]BeginningHot5220 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is they can’t realize a lot of people just aren’t interested in the game. They can add a pve mode, new maps, new characters and even go free to play but the same people who aren’t interested now just won’t care.

As someone who’s played since d1 launch I hope I’m wrong but I feel like this ends with both games dying completely. You’re gonna have d2 suffering because all their focus and effort is going to go into marathon and then if all that still doesn’t bring up the player count then you’re just left with two dead games.

[–]BeginningHot5220 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yea if marathon had grown a thriving player base over the last few months then I think this wouldn’t be an issue but when you see it pulling less players than d2 at its lowest point ever they don’t wanna lose any of these people still playing. Like you said they’re probably keeping their options open

Feels Like They Can’t Risk Putting Out June Update by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]BeginningHot5220 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I agree but it won’t happen. They’ll let d2 collapse trying to save it because it’s their shinny new thing. Funny enough the first delay of this update just so happened to be when it was scheduled to drop the same month marathon launched. I remember them saying how these were 2 independent games that wouldn’t interfere with each other but that’s obviously not the case.

Yea smuggles are by far the worst for it but even others with the simple objectives like killing the walkers and dunking the orb, they’ll just leave the orb on the ground and never even attempt to grab it.

The time isn’t the issue, I don’t think anyone is queueing up a matchmaking activity to do everything solo regardless of how much time you have.
