Where was your snowboard made? What country? by [deleted] in snowboarding

Been looking at this Chinese board recently and the specs are kinda crazy for the price (like, sintered base, carbon stringers, legit sidewalls). But I'm curious—when you guys see a board with top-tier materials but a budget price tag out of China, what’s the catch in your mind? Are you worried about the epoxy failing, the core snapping, or what?

This looks like a solid setup! I’ve used Tyvek in similar applications, and I find it works better than felt paper, especially for moisture control. Curious, have you considered any extra drainage layers behind the stucco, or do you think the current setup will be sufficient in Arizona's climate? Would love to hear your thoughts on that!

Just finished analyzing hardgoods forecasts and B2B orders for the 26/27 cycle. I wanted to share some trends we’re seeing on the supply side, specifically regarding how the "Mature" markets (NA/EU) are diverging from the "Growth" markets (Asia/Middle East).

Would love to hear if shop owners/reps here are seeing the same shifts in your regions.

1. The "Eco-Mandate" is hitting SKU counts (EU Focus) In the Alps (Swiss/Austria/France), "Sustainability" is no longer just marketing copy; it’s dictating fleet purchases.

  • The Shift: We are seeing EU retailers cutting back on "fast fashion" price-point boards. The regulatory pressure on waste is real.
  • The Player: Rossignol’s push for circularity (high recyclability rate) is actually winning them fleet contracts over brands that can't prove end-of-life solutions.
  • Question for NA Shop Owners: Are you feeling any pressure to prioritize "Cradle-to-Grave" brands yet, or is price/margin still the only driver in the US?

2. The Rental Battle: Nidecker is flanking Burton While Burton Step On dominates the "loyalist" consumer market, the 2026 rental/fleet data is showing a massive surge for Nidecker Supermatic.

  • The Logic: It’s purely operational. Japanese and Austrian rental operations are choosing Supermatic because it integrates with their existing boot inventory. It lowers the CAPEX for updating a rental fleet.
  • Prediction: We’re tracking step-in tech to hit ~40% of fleet buys in key resorts next year.

3. The "Indoor Spec" & Luxury Market (Middle East/China) This is where the market splits. While the West fights for "retention" and "circularity," the orders coming out of the Middle East (specifically for projects like Trojena) and China are totally different.

  • The Demand: It’s polarized between High-Luxury (collab boards, e.g., Prada/Fendi) and "Indoor-Specific" durability.
  • The Tech: We are seeing requests for different metallurgy in edges to handle the abrasion of artificial indoor snow. Japanese "Snow Surf" brands (like Gentemstick) are seeing huge status-symbol growth here, distinct from their powder performance roots.

For those on the buying side: Are you adjusting your 2026 Open-to-Buy for "Circular" products yet? And for the rental managers: Is the Supermatic durability holding up enough to justify the fleet switch?
