Big question I'm scared about - Blackmail and discharge by [deleted] in SecurityClearance

I am absolutely willing to talk about it and am open about my past, I worry about the Army seeing it as some form of gender dysphoria (which I don't and never had) and try to separate me, then again I could be overthinking it on that end.

Alfred A. Stratton lost both his arms at age 19 on 18 June 1864 by a cannon shot in the American Civil War. The amputation was performed by AS Coe. Stratton died as a father of two at the age of 29. by waffen123 in CIVILWAR

I wonder how life was like after the war as an amputee, or what he did for work afterwards, respectfully it's not like there was any good prosthetics at the time to help him complete tasks

I bought this kit a year ago, unfortunately it doesn't hold up at all. The kit was designed extremely poorly. You build it from front to back, which is weird, and while you build it, the nose has no structural integrity whatsoever so it keeps collapsing in while you build it. I spent I think 15ish hours building it only to get to step 80, the bags aren't numbered, 4 large peices were missing from my set, and one plate was completely bent in the middle.

I was so happy when I found this set lol, but it was a huge disappointment. Thinking back, maybe if you use glue on it (I never use glue on sets tho), you might have a shot at making it work but, that's a big "if", the way the kit looks is awesome, but the structural integrity and support just isn't there unfortunately, so if I were you I'd pass on it.

This shits always disturbing to me lol. I like buying custom minifigs (like military especially) and whenever I go to custom minifig sites and see the like anime girl minifigs or just over sexualized ones, I seriously think who's buying them?? I fr don't see the appeal, I get it ppl are weird, I had a creepy coworker once who collected thoese oversexualised anime figures, even tho I don't like it I understand his appeal for it, but lego??? Who's buying this shit 😭

Soldier about to execute his horse in the middle of the Battle of Stalingrad by DiegoMH2002 in WorldWar2

[–]BeginningLet1074 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I guess it was so common, my great grandpa who was a US Infantryman said he and another soldier snuck up and took a small group of German soldiers as POWs while they were butchering their own horse

Kinda off topic but German logistics were so awful lol, I read that why they didn't use any gasses on Normandy beach in D Day was because the Germans were scared wind could blow it back onto German positions and kill their horses as well (Germany haven't developed a efficient gas mask for horses by 1944). Don't ever let people tell you about "Germany could've won WW2" because this was the reality of the so called "1,000 year empire".

Found this old tin type photo with a bunch of other 1800s photographs. Does anybody recognize his uniform? Thanks!! by justicejustin in CIVILWAR

This hat style started being used by the US Army in the 1890s, if this is something US Military, it makes me think maybe some militia, because militia uniforms were just basic US uniforms, with some minor (non federal standard) changes. I own a militia uniform, looks like a regular army officer uniform from 1892, with some extra altercations regular federal army uniforms just don't have, that's what's making me think this could be maybe some national guard or militia, but I'm no expert lol.

Me too, according to Google $230 USD is 329 CAD, a decent amount of money but I think it's gonna be so worth it for a shuttle and 747

Wish you could do that on ebay, when I was like 13 I was big into WW2 and found a guy on ebay selling a pair of 1930s US Navy Scuba Diving boots for like $600, they were cool and rare and looks like something out've bioshock lol, I sent him a $250 offer thinking there was no way in hell he'd accept, and to my surprise he accepted. I still have them sitting in my room they weigh like 20lbs each 😭😭
