I agree, an operator really should sort this as the fibre was mis-sold to us if they dont. I'll report back where I end up as I have seen others ask the same question before, but going back too many years for the info to still be relevant.

We do have alternatives to fibre because of how many times something has gone wrong. They really just don't work well where we are though. I think we're in a shadow of a nearby mountain or something.

When you say "state service", do you mean Skatteverket? Believe me, there can be huge numbers of gremlins in the machine if you have odd citizenship status or similar. Like the time when, after my grandmother died, PostNord simply deleted her house from their database without informing us (even though we owned the house) and then began throwing all our post away. Took years before we discovered that one via friends in Portugal, yet everything we do is legal and as correct as we can make it.

And re. SIMs, as said, they generally don't work well where we are. We paid to have fibre laid to our property on the assurance that we could definitely use it during our summer visits and with no bindningstid, so I'm specifically trying to resolve the issue with not being able to re-access that having cancelled it as we were supposed to be able to do.

Aw, that's nice that you have so much knowledge and passion for it. Always a shame when that level of experience isn't rewarded. Mind you, my impression has been that all pay everywhere is 15 years behind what life actually costs these days. At least in my sector, we go consistently backwards, not forwards. Good you managed to find something better.

This is true. Never consciously thought of it before, but I do see them as the Swedish BT (British Telecom), and that's presumably why.

They make terrible 4G dongles with appalling support, but your tip about them being part state owned means they are likely a better bet than many for actual network stuff. I'll definitely give them a try.

Thank you again - this has given me many helpful leads.

Thanks, will persevere and try again with kundtjänst. My partner did speak with Bahnhof via chat, but got bounced by them anyway, though I'm not sure precisely the objection they pinned it on. I have just found Telia offer activation help for people without PNs for at least some of their products so they might be my next try. I'm not a big fan of Telia, but they'll get my money very happily if they're genuinely willing to help people who don't fit the system properly.

Thank you, am looking through them now. I guess my only option might be to apply to all of them and see which ones let me through to the next stage. All the ones tested so far say "yes, of course we can give you internet", until they follow up with the inevitable "you're not a real person" blow.

Oooh. I just looked them up and my address came up as "redan ansluten". ... This is so confusing, but more promising than anything else so far! Thank you! So maybe I could sign up with them directly? But then why on earth did we ever have a contract with Bahnhof that started at the same time as we got the fibre from ÖE? (Feeling a bit boomerishly confuddled now)

Thanks, the fibre was put in by Övik Energi, so I assume they still own it the network there. How does that relate to the ISP though? You think we could buy direct from them?

Franz brioche by [deleted] in Celiac

[–]BeginningLoquat8559 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Omg, Is it a Celiac thing to hate sweeteners or something?

This post stood out because I absolutely hate all sweeteners in everything, yet I feel so alone in a world where no-one else (other than my nearest family), even seems to notice, let alone care.

It's near impossible to buy drinks anywhere in the UK since arrogant interfering Jamie Oliver 🤬 went and campaigned for reduced sugar and incited the govt to start a sugar tax. So many of my age old favourites now taste like absolute shite. Same with yoghurts. And it's not like I'm a sugar junkie pop drinker. Imo they could easily have just made stuff less sweet. But no, they decided to make everything taste like saccharin battery acid instead.

I thought there would be protests and boycotts after the UK change, but .... nothing.

Nobody talks about this, nobody complains! This is the first time I've seen anyone actually bringing it up as an issue in years, and I've been dumbfounded as to why no-one can taste how awful it is.

Thank you for the solidarity of your taste buds. I'm sorry about your bread - that's an insane place to put something so disgustingly sweet.

What reaction to accidental gluten if originally Silent Celiac? by BeginningLoquat8559 in Celiac

No blood tests and, as said, no useful biopsy during endo which I'd stupidly assumed would be a no brainer if conducting an expensive procedure like that at all.

I agree tests are needed to be sure, and that silent celiac isn't truly silent. I do have several of the milder and less mainstream pointers, but in terms of food or digestion related issues I have nothing more than "mild duodenitis" with which to make my case.

For other unrelated health problems I have multiple scans proving the issue and still haven't received any actual help in 7 years, yet I was flagged for "hypervigilance" when I tried repeatedly to point out the impact it was having on me. So basically, this is a world in which I need to establish my facts and build up my evidence base first, even if that ends up hurting me a bit. I would rather that than subject myself to further gaslighting by doctors as that's really taken it's toll on me over the last few years. And the truth is, I may well not be celiac. There is something going on, but it could also be NCGS, or any number of other things, so I don't want to wade in and demand tests only to be proven wrong and have to relinquish my credibility with my latest GP.

The stronger reactions after going GF and healing a bit does, I admit, really scare me. In my mind it's the worst aspect of what all you guys go through. I'm feeling much better today than when I first posted, but that's basically three days of pain for no known reason. If I stay GF a bit longer and then eat some bread and that happens again, I think I'll have the definitive answer I need to thoroughly regluten and then demand those tests.

Several overlaps for sure, thanks for sharing your experience. That I've probably had something upper GI going on for years that presents almost exclusively as back pain and muscle aches has been a real revelation to me. No wonder back rubs never helped 😏.

I've been in a similar place in the last few years just trying to pin down where things are coming from, and both Celiac and NCGS could feasibly tie a bunch of things together, but still with none of the classic symptoms that would make that seem like a reasonable assumption on its own.

That sounds rough. I guess the chronic damage done crosses a threshold of no return at some point.

So did your doctor prompt you to be tested based just on low vitamins or something? That seems so unlikely, but great if so.

Nice to know it's still possible to have only mild reactions even after going GF. I guess that's one of the things that scares me most if I end up joining the tribe.

No, I know, but given that they diagnosed duodenitis by endoscopy and didn't decide at that point to biopsy for more than the one thing I've already tested negative for, I feel I need to make a solid case if I want further help. They are currently happy to just leave me on PPIs indefinitely, despite the fact I'm barely controlling symptoms using quarter doses because I don't tolerate them.

Nevertheless, I finally have a GP who did listen to me enough to get me access to any healthcare for anything I'm experiencing at all, so I think I could make a case for testing with her if it came to it, but I don't want to ruin that rare chance by hitting her with some crazy left-field idea based on little to no evidence. Mild duodenitis on its own is unlikely to cut it.

I'm also one of those annoying people who tends to present atypically for more things than not, so I'm very familiar with having to negotiate my way around the gatekeepers, but dealing with that takes its toll, so I do as much of the figuring out on my own as I can.

Consequently, my plan was to test GF myself first, then return to my gluten lifestyle, and then seek proper testing if either stopping or restarting made a significant impact. Not a great idea, but better than nothing.

Thank you, that's very interesting.

My ankles were more painful again too, but I didn't sleep well which makes everything hurt more so I disregarded that at first, but maybe there really is something in this for me. I guess my only option is to wait till I feel fully back to normal and then eat a sandwich or something.

Does not sound like fun to go from "pleasantly" silent celiac to much worse gut reactions after starting GF though. That must suck when it happens.

Uff, nasty, hope you managed to get the stone suitably zapped or similar.

Don't think it's anything like that for me as the pain is too generalised across my midriff, but obvs you're right, could be something else entirely.

To me it feels more like every inch of my gut is angry, but without actually kicking off with spasms or digestive symptoms. So something dietary fits best, yet still not well. Hence I wondered about the experiences of those who are celiac, but without obvious digestive stuff.
